Few studies have been carried out with the objective of comparing criteria in different paradigms. This work presents an experimental study comparing the cost of mutation analysis in the Procedural and Guided objects paradigms. A set of 32 programs implemented in C and Java was used. The tools Proteum and MuClipse were used. The strength of an adequate set of test cases comparing a program in one paradigm to the same version of the program implemented in the other paradigm of interest was also evaluated (cross scoring). Results indicate that as much the cost, the strength of the mutation test is greater in programs implemented in the Procedural paradigm compared to the OO paradigm

Pattern languages might be useful tools for design as far as designers can identify the right patterns. For this users need to understand the relationships between patterns and how to combine them. In this process, knowing how patterns have been used by other designers might help in identifying the best combination of solutions. In this paper we propose a module that recommends patterns based on the selection already made by them, with a view to supporting designers in making the correct design decisions. © 2010 IEEE.

While interaction patterns are becoming widespread in the field of interface design, their definitions do not enjoy a common standard yet, as is for software patterns. Moreover, patterns are developed for diverse design aspects, reflecting the complexity of the field. As a consequence, research on formalization of interaction patterns is not developed, and few attempts have been made to extend techniques developed for design pattern formalization. We show here how an extension to our recent approach to pattern formalization can be usefully employed to formalize some classes of interaction patterns, to express relations among them, and to detect conflicts. © 2010 IEEE.

The intelligent network (IN) management is one of the key technologies in the IN research. We introduce a method for the design and implementation of the service management point (SMP) in the IN service management system (SMS) based on an object oriented paradigm. After describing the SMP's management requirements, we further discuss the SMP's design principles, functional structure, definition of managed objects and the implementation schema. The characteristics of the method are examined.

Distributed time service is a basic object service in distributed computing environment based on CORBA. In this paper, We present a clock synchronization method based on clock groups. We dividing machines in a system into groups, nodes in a group are in the same LAN. There is a master clock and several slave clocks in a group, who carry out intra-group synchronization. Master clocks of all groups together accomplish inter-group synchronization. Such dividing-to-group synchronization method make the system scalable and flexible. At the same time, it reduces machines spanning LANs to attend synchronization, thus synchronization overhead is reduced. We have implemented clock synchronization based on clock groups in our experimental distributed object environment.

OMT(object Modeling Technique) is an informal software developing tool. The feature of the informal method is that it describes a system adopting natural language and intuition graphics. In order to increase the tightness and decrease the ambigity,this paper presents formalizing OMT. Moreover,this paper discusses an automatic translating developing tool from a formal OMT to a C++ program. It may be used to shorten translating period and avoid programming mistakes in manual implementation.
