The accuracy in depth estimation of the transponder calibration algorithms based on Long Baseline (LBL) technology needs to be improved, especially in the case of no Depth Gauge (DG), poor depth estimation will directly affect the spatial positioning accuracy. In order to comprehensively improve the solution accuracy of transponder calibration, this paper proposes a calibration algorithm based on Local Area Segmentation (LAS) method. According to the simulation results, LAS performs the best in depth estimation, horizontal positioning solution and spatial positioning accuracy.

Inductor filters, such as the ones implemented in DC-DC buck-boost converters for electric vehicle chargers, have a major impact on the converter weight, volume and cost. Thus, their design is key in order to obtain an optimal design of the whole converter. This paper proposes a design methodology for powder core toroidal inductors, which is based on a holistic approach of the design of the inductor, where losses due to high-frequency effects are computed by means of specific loss model for toroidal windings, and saturation, geometrical and thermal constraints are considered. The convenience of the design tool is shown through an analysis over a wide variation of parameters, including converter topology, parallelization, switching frequency and inductance. The analysis demonstrates the relevance of high-frequency effects on the inductor design, so certain misconceptions can be avoided, such as that the inductor volume monotonically decreases when the inductance value is decreased or that paralleling inductors always results in more compact designs. A design example is presented for a 15-kW, three-level electric vehicle battery charger. The algorithm is used to obtain an optimal design of the converter, including the inductors and SiC MOSFET devices. Finally, an easy method to obtain a commercial inductor design from the theoretical one provided by the algorithm is presented.

Recently, with the miniaturization of GIS, there is a need for the miniaturization of spacers as accessories. Miniaturized spacers make it difficult to secure adequate insulation distances, resulting in a more concentrated electric field at the triple junction of high-voltage (HV) conductor-insulator (spacer)-insulation gas (SF6), which is a weakness in GIS. Therefore, by introducing a new concept design technology, functionally graded material (FGM), which is recently applied to various materials and parts industries, three-dimensional control of permittivity distribution in a spacer can be expected to alleviate triple-junction electric field occupancy and improve insulation performance. In this study, we propose an optimized model using NSGA-II to optimize the permittivity distribution of FGM applied spacer.

Parametric study and optimization of the cryo-magnetic system for EU DEMO at the pre-conceptual design phase

The pre-conceptual design phase of the EU DEMO magnet system relies on mechanical, electromagnetic and thermal-hydraulic analyses of different conductor designs for the Toroidal Field (TF) coils, the Poloidal Field (PF) coils and the Central Solenoid (CS) magnet. The cryo-magnetic system includes the superconducting magnets cooled by forced flow of supercritical helium at about 4.5 K, the cryo-distribution lines and valve boxes, and the cryogenic system with several cold boxes. The present analysis focuses on the cooling requirement of the TF coils with three winding pack options for the cable in conduit conductors based on 2015 DEMO baseline, featuring pancake or layer winding approaches. This analysis methodology would be further developed with the latest conductor designs and more complete heat load assumptions for the future conductor design studies and the specification of the cooling requirements. Parametric studies on the cold source temperature and on the supercritical helium mass flow rate have been performed on the three conductor designs in order to identify for each one the impact of the cooling conditions onto the temperature margin with respect to the current sharing temperature. In this study, the heat load contribution have been limited to the estimation of the neutron heating and some joint resistance heat loads when available. In addition, Simcryogenics, a dynamic modelling tool developed by CEA, is used to model supercritical helium loops for cooling different conductor designs. An algorithm has been developed to optimize both the cold source temperature and the supercritical helium mass flow, in order to minimize refrigeration power for each conductor design. optimization studies are analyzed and compared in order to estimate for each TF winding pack design, the impact on refrigeration power. This paper develops an optimization methodology for the Thermal Energy Storage (TES) tank embedded with Phase Change Materials (PCMs) for domestic water heating applications with respect to the design parameter constraints and tank size. It presents the optimum design conditions for two different TES configurations considering different control strategies for the conventional cascaded system and the multiple entry independent PCM modules. The optimum configurations are determined using adaptive simulated annealing algorithm aimed to enhance the energy content and compare the systems outputs, namely the available energy and the heat transfer fluid outlet temperature at the optimum conditions for the two systems. The present study is conducted during a complete melting and solidification processes. It simultaneously validates the effectiveness of the multiple entry independent PCM modules in satisfying the low and high user requirements of domestic hot water and highlights the reduction in the electric power consumption throughout the year compared to the conventional TES system.

Adaptive mutant particle swarm optimization based precise cargo airdrop of unmanned aerial vehicles

Emerging unmanned system technologies and smart logistics have motivated logistics enterprises to use unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for last-mile cargo delivery through the air so as to benefit from its flexibility and low cost. It is useful to deliver cargoes by airdrops from fixed-wing UAVs. However, wind and parameter errors of the UAV could make the cargo deviate from the desired landing point. To improve the accuracy of airdrop methods, this paper presents the Continuously Computed Release Point under conditions of strong wind (SW-CCRP) airdrop strategy to transport the cargo to a given position by a fixed-wing UAV. In this strategy, a set of differential equations are used to model the cargo motion and wind perturbations are considered. Based on the established motion model and the kinematic relationships between the cargo and the target position, the expected release point can be accurately predicted in real time. In order to satisfy the precision requirement, the precision assignment is studied to determine the permissible parameter error ranges. In view of that the conventional precision assignment methods are difficult to be applied in the airdrop system because of its complexity and strong nonlinearity, an adaptive mutant particle swarm optimization (AMPSO) algorithm is proposed to solve this problem, in which the adaptive inertia weight can balance the global and local search. In addition, the mutation factor of the AMPSO is able to avoid premature convergence and stagnation. Finally, two specific test scenarios are designed to validate the effectiveness of the proposed approaches.

The blockchain-assisted swarm robotics system, as an emerging distributed multi-robot system, has been widely discussed and studied for its outstanding advantages in secure communication, data logging and consensus achievement. Due to faults, formation changes, and obstructions, the network topology and communication rate change in the process of multi-robot collab-oration, which inevitably affect the stability and operation efficiency of the swarm robotics system. However, few studies have quantitatively assessed the degradation of system stability performance after failure and how to respond to failure of team members and optimize the system for failure. In this paper, the concept of "energy"is introduced into the quantitative evaluation of system failure resistance, and an evaluation model based on communication distance, communication quality and communication volume is proposed, which can evaluate the stability of swarm robotics systems at different moments and any member in real-time collaboration. As the stability improves, the "energy"increases, and vice versa. Additionally, the "energy"balance is applied to the optimization process of multi-robot formation, and the optimization equation based on the efficiency of swarm robots is proposed. The optimal formation efficiency equation of the system at a certain moment is obtained by jointly solving the energy optimization equation and the system. The simulation results show that the proposed formation optimization method can improve the stability of the swarm robotics system at any time and in all directions, and maximize the operational efficiency of the queue.

Reliable Islanded Microgrid Operation Using Dynamic Optimal Power Management

The tradeoff between the operating cost and the reliability of microgrids imposes challenges of having cost-effective power dispatch and reliable operations. The work presented in this article optimally solves this issue in a microgrid that contains photovoltaic (PV), dispatchable generator, and storage battery. Flexible control algorithms are developed to enable high penetration of PV power in islanded microgrids such that the challenge of having a cost-effective and reliable operation can be mitigated. This is achieved by creating a power flow optimization framework that considers all variables associated with the system operation. Particle swarm optimization is utilized to effectively optimize the power flow among the integrated sources and to dynamically schedule the battery state of charge. The proposed controller of each source works to fulfill the requirements of the optimization. The energy index of reliability is employed as a direct measure to quantify the reliability level of the microgrid. The effectiveness of the proposed approach is demonstrated by simulations and validated by experimental studies.

Symmetric Cryptography With a Chaotic Map and a Multilayer Machine Learning Network for Physiological Signal Infosecurity: Case Study in Electrocardiogram

Digital physiological signals in telecare medicine information systems have been widely applied in remote medical applications, such as telecare, tele-examination, and telediagnosis, via computer networking transmission or wireless communication. However, these medical records need to ensure authorization demands in the channel model for human body communication and remote medical servers and enhance the confidentiality, recoverability, and availability of transmission data. Hence, this study proposes a symmetric cryptography scheme with a chaotic map and a multilayer machine learning network (MMLN) to achieve physiological signal infosecurity. A chaotic pseudorandom number generator within specific control parameters can dynamically produce unordered sequence numbers to set the secret keys for a regular secret key update, thereby improving the security of private cipher codes. The chaotic map is quickly iterated to produce a pseudorandom key stream for real-time applications, and the private cipher codes are selected using the initial and specific control parameters at the data emitter and receiver ends. A general regression neural network is used to map the high-dimensional input-output pair of cipher codes for substitution and permutation processes. Its adaptive MMLN with an optimization algorithm can rapidly train the random cipher code protocol to achieve an encryptor and a decryptor for a regular encrypted communication. Using the Massachusetts Institute of Technology-Beth Israel Hospital (MIT-BIH) Arrhythmia Database, 100 electrocardiogram fragments are used to verify the proposed model, and the peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) as a quantitative quality metric is used to evaluate the visual quality after encryption and decryption processes for further diagnosis applications. Optimal power rescheduling in interconnected AC/DC networks to maintain the voltage stability

The main remedial actions to prevent voltage instability problems are load shedding and rescheduling of generating units. In AC/DC networks, the presence of high voltage direct current (HVDC) links equipped with voltage source converter (VSC) provides an efficient active and reactive power support. As the voltage stability is a local phenomenon, the rescheduling of an HVDC link could change the arrangement of critical buses and the stability margin of the entire power system as a remedial action. Considering this problem, a new optimization algorithm is proposed to provide the desired voltage stability margin in interconnected AC/DC networks taking into account the post contingency conditions and minimizing the cost of remedial actions. The regulation of the converter operating point is presented as a novel remedial action. The well-known loading margin (LM) index is used as the voltage stability criterion and different VSC-HVDC structures, i.e. single-infeed, multi-infeed and multi-terminal HVDC systems are considered. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is evaluated using an AC/DC system comprising the IEEE 118-bus and New England 39-bus test systems. The results show that the proposed algorithm could provide the desired value of LM with the minimum value of load shedding and the control cost.
