Approximate confidence limit for the reference scaled bioequivalence with a parallel design

The reference scaled bioequivalence has been proposed with many successful applications for the highly variable products. The statistical properties for the reference scaled bioequivalence have been studied for the commonly used crossover design. However, a crossover design may not be feasible in a real application such as the biosimilar study, instead a parallel design is a more timely and cost-effective choice. In this paper, the approximate upper confidence interval limit for the linearized criteria in the reference scaled bioequivalence from a parallel design is derived. The performance of the approximation is evaluated through the simulation. The simulation results show that this approximation performs well and gives reasonable power and well-controlled type I error.

Enhanced strength and weakened dynamic sensitivity of honeycombs by parallel design

This paper proposes a parallel design which can extremely enhance the in-plane property of honeycombs without adding extra mass. Theoretical analysis of regular hexagonal honeycomb with parallel gradient configuration (HPGC) demonstrates that it can achieve a maximum of more than 70% enhancement of static strength in the x direction compared with uniform honeycomb (UH) of the same relative density. Furthermore, static enhancement coefficient is irrelevant to the average relative density of HPGC, which means the degree of enhancement under certain density gradient is constant no matter what the relative density is employed. This is efficient for fast performance-oriented design. The mechanism of strength enhancement is discussed. Result shows that parallel design is applicable to many cellular solids who are eligible for the special relations (for example, the linear relation between graded variable t and relative density and the nonlinear relation between graded variable t and crushing strength). Dynamic analysis shows that the dynamic crushing strength is also enhanced by parallel design. In addition, parallel design is able to reduce the sensitivity of dynamic crushing strength to the impact velocity. Finite element analyses (FEA) are carried out to verify the theoretical results. This novel design provides huge potentials to cellular solids with high-level strength and lightweight applications.

Cryo-EM structure determination is the most important research area in structural biology. With the development of cryo-electron microscopy, the resolution has been enhanced significantly, which leads to the huge computation to reconstruct the biomolecule in recent years. In this paper, we present a large-scale parallel design for Cryo-EM structure determination on heterogeneous many-core architectures. A novel task parallel strategy is proposed to reduce the redundant computation and improve the scalability on large-scale systems. Further, We distribute the reconstruction model to each node and rearrange the data layout to achieve high parallel efficiency and reduce the memory footprint. The proposed comprehensive parallel design shows highly parallel efficiency and scalability on large-scale heterogeneous architectures, which could significantly accelerate the whole period of Cryo-EM structure determination process.

Bubble behaviors in direct methanol fuel cell anode with parallel design

In this paper, the Volume of Fluid (VOF) method for tracking the gas-liquid interface is employed to investigate the carbon dioxide (CO2) behaviors inside the anode of a direct methanol fuel cell (DMFC). The CO2 bubble emergence processes from the catalyst layer (CL) to the gas diffusion layer (GDL) and then to the flow channels are studied with two different strategies. In the first strategy, the CL and GDL are modeled as a uniform porous layer;in the second strategy, they are modeled as a well-ordered-path GDL and a uniform CL. The simulation results show that the second modeling strategy can better capture and match the fundamental phenomena of CO2 bubble formation and evolvement observed from the experiments inside a DMFC anode. Optimal conductive constructal configurations with "parallel design"

Today, conductive volume to point cooling of heat generating bodies is under investigation as an alternative method for thermal management of electronic chipsets with high power density. In this paper, a new simple geometry called "parallel design" is proposed for effective conductive cooling of rectangular heat generating bodies. This configuration tries to minimize the thermal resistance associated with the temperature drop inside the heat generating volume. The geometric features of the design are all optimized analytically and expressed with simple explicit equations. It is proved that optimal number of parallel links is equal to the thermal conductivity ratio multiplied by the porosity (or the volume ratio). With the universal aspect ratio of H/L = 2, total thermal resistance of the present parallel design is lower than the recently proposed networks of various shapes that are optimized with help of numerical simulations;especially when more conducting material is available. Synthetic aperture (SA) imaging algorithm, which combines sub-aperture elements to form high resolution image, can improve image quality in vivo ultrasound image. However, large computation resource is generally required for the implementation of SA. In this paper, we propose a parallel structural design for SA imaging algorithm that can be realized in Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA), so that light weight and miniaturized design can be achieved. The proposed design has been validated by MATLAB and was employed to construct a high resolution ultrasound imaging from the raw data of 128 array transducer elements. The processing time is about 2.6ms theoretically, which should be alright for usage.

Reference Datasets for Bioequivalence Trials in a Two-Group parallel design

In order to help companies qualify and validate the software used to evaluate bioequivalence trials with two parallel treatment groups, this work aims to define datasets with known results. This paper puts a total 11 datasets into the public domain along with proposed consensus obtained via evaluations from six different software packages (R, SAS, WinNonlin, OpenOffice Calc, Kinetica, EquivTest). Insofar as possible, datasets were evaluated with and without the assumption of equal variances for the construction of a 90% confidence interval. Not all software packages provide functionality for the assumption of unequal variances (EquivTest, Kinetica), and not all packages can handle datasets with more than 1000 subjects per group (WinNonlin). Where results could be obtained across all packages, one showed questionable results when datasets contained unequal group sizes (Kinetica). A proposal is made for the results that should be used as validation targets.

With the increasing volume of business the civil aviation data processing system, the data processing efficiency requirements become higher and higher. In order to improve the speed of data processing, we design a parallel scheme of GRIB according to the GRIB data processing flow. We achieved the parallel processing of GRIB data reading and decoding process, and carried out the related test. It is significantly improve the speed of data loading.

Latent heat thermal energy storage (LHTES) systems employ phase change materials (PCM) for energy storage, and fins may be incorporated to improve the performance of these systems. In this study, a "parallel" fin arrangement is utilized for LHTES systems based on constructal theory. This geometry minimizes the conductive thermal resistance in a volume-to-point flow problem. The melting/solidification process is then investigated by CFD including natural convection effects. Numerical simulations have also been conducted for previously pro-posed fin arrangements in the same operational conditions (i.e. the same fin and PCM volumes, materials, initial temperature, and boundary conditions). Therefore, a comprehensive and fair comparison between various fin configurations is now possible, and the impact of different fin configurations on the phase change process in the LHTES system is highlghted. The results show that the "parallel" design provides a uniform and symmetric temperature distribution in the LHTES system, along with a significant reduction in the required time for 100% melting and solidification processes. However, the maximum stored/released energy occurs in Y-shaped fins after full charge/discharge process.
