During the use of electronic devices, the thermal cycling experienced can impose enormous alternating stress cycles on the chip adhesive layers, which can accumulate over time to cause fatigue cracks, leading to the failure of the adhesive layers. To accurately and rapidly simulate the effects of thermal cycling on the chip adhesive layers, this paper adopts a parametric simulation-based approach, establishing a set of physical modeling methods for thermal cycle fatigue failure of chip adhesive structures. Through the secondary development function of Abaqus-Python, this study parametrically processes various physical variables that affect the reliability and lifetime of chip adhesive structures, allowing the model to account for changes in different working environments, stress states, and material parameters. This method, which combines numerical simulation technology and parametric modeling, can accurately predict the thermal cycling fatigue failure of chip adhesive layers under various working conditions and stress conditions. By establishing a simulation model that approximates actual working conditions, this method is expected to guide engineering practice, improving the reliability and stability of chip adhesive structures.

Bolt Looseness Detection in Flanged Pipes Using parametric modeling

Detecting bolt looseness in flanged pipes at an early stage is critical for ensuring safety in the oil and gas industry. Failure to identify such looseness can lead to severe incidents such as leaks and explosions. One effective indirect method for detecting looseness is through vibration analysis of the structures connected by bolted joints. Changes in vibration parameters can indicate looseness, which affects the bolted joints' structural stiffness. This study presents a novel parametric modeling algorithm for detecting bolt looseness in flanged pipes. Autoregressive (AR) model parameters serve as the feature vector for a Mahalanobis distance-based indicator, facilitating accurate looseness detection. Validation was conducted using AR and time-varying autoregressive (TAR) models adapted to the stationary and nonstationary vibration signals of flanged pipes, respectively. The structure was excited using white noise (stationary state) and a moving mass inside the pipe (nonstationary state) to ensure practical applicability. The results demonstrate the method's effectiveness in detecting flange looseness at early stages using an output-only approach.

Maneuver mode parametric modeling based on trajectory curve evolution laws for hypersonic glide vehicles

Aiming at the target's maneuver mode description problems in hypersonic vehicle defense, a maneuver mode parametric modeling method based on the trajectory curve evolution laws is proposed. Firstly, the longitudinal and lateral maneuver modes are investigated. To avoid the unobservability problem of the target's guidance law and dynamics model, the directly measurable target states are taken as the research object. Secondly, from the perspective of the trajectory curve evolution laws, the trajectory's curvature and torsion are extracted as the maneuvering characteristic parameters based on the differential geometry theory, which realizes the decoupling and dimensionality reduction among the maneuvering characteristic parameters. According to the trajectory characteristics of the hypersonic targets, the extracted curvature and torsion are decomposed into trend and period terms to prevent the mutual interference of different modal data. Finally, the trend term is described using the Autoregressive method. To address the periodic drift problem, the Time-Varying Autoregressive model is introduced to approximate the non-stationary characteristics of the periodic term, thereby improving modeling accuracy. By model superposition and combination with the curvilinear equations, the maneuver mode parametric model is obtained. Simulation results demonstrate that the established maneuver mode parametric model shares high consistency with the dynamic model.

ISFNN: an enhanced neural network for parametric modeling of passive devices with input skip-connections

High-performance passive devices play a critical role in the radio frequency front-end of wireless systems. Accurately characterizing the electromagnetic (EM) responses of these devices poses a formidable challenge, particularly in high-frequency design. Commercial numerical methods often demand substantial computational resources and necessitate complete recalculation for any structural modifications. This paper proposes an input skip-connections feedforward neural network (ISFNN) for the parametric modeling of passive devices. The ISFNN architecture incorporates multiple skip connections within the layer blocks, which periodically integrate the input design variables into the intermediate hidden layers. This design facilitates feature combination and enhances the extraction capability of design variables. The intermediate layers contain both the original input features and the learned feature information from preceding layers, enabling the model to effectively and robustly capture the nonlinear relationships between the design variables and EM responses. Additionally, a systematic algorithm is proposed to develop and train the ISFNN model. The ISFNN offers a unified solution for both single-physics EM analysis and EM-centric multi-physics (MP) analysis. Compared to other ANN-based models, the ISFNN achieves smaller testing errors with fewer training samples for single-physics EM modeling. Furthermore, in certain applications, conducting MP analysis is more aligned with the actual operating conditions of high-performance microwave components. The nongeometrical parameters are incorporated into the input design features. The ISFNN accurately predicts EM responses using only MP training data, without requiring additional single-physics EM data, transfer functions, or multiple mapping modules. Validation examples demonstrate the better modeling accuracy and efficiency of the ISFNN. Within the design space, the trained ISFNN can generate new MP data in just 0.02 second

Experimental investigation and parametric modeling of the effect of alcohol addition on the performance and emissions characteristics of a diesel engine fueled with biodiesel-diesel-hydrogen fuel mixtures

This study aims to evaluate the impact of various blends of diesel, biodiesel, and alcohols (n-butanol or ethanol) as triple fuels, along with the effects of replacing hydrogen (H2) with diesel in the fuel mixture, on the performance and emissions of a single-cylinder diesel engine. The results obtained using the Response Surface Methodology (RSM) revealed that incorporating alcohol into the fuel mixture reduced brake power by up to 20 %. Additionally, alcohol addiction increased brake-specific fuel consumption (BSFC) by up to 8 %. Overall, including alcohol raised carbon monoxide (CO) emissions by up to 28 %, reducing carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 16 % to 19 %. Furthermore, adding alcohol to the diesel-biodiesel blend lowered nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions by 18% compared to the diesel-biodiesel mixture alone. In the study's second phase, parametric analyses were conducted using a two-zone simulation model and a random forest machine learning model to examine the effects of replacing diesel with hydrogen in the fuel mixture on performance and emission characteristics. The findings demonstrated that increasing the hydrogen proportion in the mixture enhanced power output and thermal efficiency. Conversely, increasing n-butanol and ethanol ratios decreased power output and thermal efficiency. Specific fuel consumption (SFC) increased with a reduction in the hydrogen ratio and an increase in the n-butanol-ethanol ratios. Nitric oxide (NO) emissions rose with higher hydrogen and lower n-butanol- ethanol ratios. CO2 emissions decreased as the hydrogen ratio increased but increased with higher biodiesel content. While EtOH and n-butanol blends produced more CO2 than hydrogen, their CO2 emissions were still lower than diesel ones. Due to its higher calorific value, the minimum SFC and CO2 emissions were observed with 100% hydrogen. It was also noted that power, brake thermal efficiency (BTE), SFC, and CO2 emissions decreased, while NO emissions increased by 23 %, 11 %,

OPTIMIZATION OF VIBRATION TRANSMISSION SYSTEM BASED ON IMPLICIT parametric modeling OF SUGARCANE HARVESTER FRAME

The hilly terrain where sugarcane harvesters travel, the harvest object of rough and tough stalks, and the perennial cultivation property are all different from those of other straw crops. In order to reduce the cutting damage of cane stalks caused by complex excitation in field conditions, a method for optimizing dynamic characteristics of vibration transmission system based on implicit parametric modeling of harvester frame was proposed. First, the impact damage effect of the cutter on the cut section of stalk was analyzed by high-speed images. Accordingly, the cutter amplitude RMS and impact velocity (VI) were proposed as parameters to characterize the damage inducibility. Subsequently, a 5-DOF dynamic model of the whole machine was established covering 21 dynamic parameters. With the measured excitation of road spectrum, cane cutting force and engine, the virtual prototype simulation showed that the frame stiffness was the most sensitive to vibration response. Through topology optimization and implicit parametric modeling of such load-bearing frame, a high-rigidity design was derived to improve the vibration transmission characteristics. Comparison of testing results before and after frame optimization illustrated that the bending stiffness and torsional stiffness were increased by 1.95% and 2.84% respectively, and the RMS of operating frequency-response functions with road and engine as path sources were decreased by 21.7% and 27.2% respectively. As a result, the output amplitude RMS and impact velocity VI were reduced by 35.9% and 5.9% respectively, implying corresponding improvements in the cutting quality of cane stalks. This study provided a reference for the development of harvester dynamic systems based on harvesting quality optimization.

Building Information modeling (BIM) is a critical data source for constructing new structures depicting the inner workings of the systems and components in detail. However, current modeling practices are based on traditional construction methods, resulting in insufficient details within the BIM model to support robotic construction for many building systems. The model's level of development (LOD) needs to be increased to facilitate the changes in data requirements. One method that allows for increased LOD is computational modeling;however, many factors can influence the process. Therefore, this study investigates challenges for implementation to increase the LOD for building to enable robotic construction. Dynamo is used as the computational modeling software in conjunction with Autodesk Revit to accomplish this. A process was created to place various components, such as concrete masonry units (CMUs), in their final design location and extract information utilizing these platforms for masonry construction. However, challenges were met during this process, including material naming conventions, tolerance/specification inputs, wall openings/lintels, and component/material libraries. The challenges presented during the implementation of the Dynamo mirror what the literature shows for supporting technological infrastructure BIM and mobile robot construction. To accomplish this research, an extensive literature review was completed, along with documentation of challenges during the development and implementation of the script.

Automated Design and parametric modeling of Excavator Buckets

This paper presents the process of automated designing and parametric modeling of excavator buckets using the CAD system. A methodology has been developed that covers all stages of design, from the creation of 3D models of the parts, sub-assemblies, and assemblies to the generation of design documentation, using template files. The presented approach allows the creation of parametric models with multiple configurations, which cover different variants of the products according to their technical characteristics and purpose. This paper describes in detail the technological process, including the manufacture of parts and the assembling of sub-assemblies, in accordance with modern production requirements. Bucket classification according to excavator operating weight is included. parametric modeling of the main components, such as the base and upper part of the bucket, is also described. In addition, an algorithm for automation of design documentation has been developed that integrates PDM systems for engineering data management. Using the presented methodology leads to a reduction in the volume of created documentation and optimizes the design process, providing the opportunity for rapid adaptation to various client requirements. Data management within a PDM system ensures centralized storage, actuality, and accessibility of information, which contribute to more efficient production and management of product data.

Fast parametric modeling of visualized simulation and design for tracked vehicle system

The burgeoning demand for efficient and accurate design methodologies in the engineering domain has been accentuated by the complexities inherent in the development of tracked vehicle systems. Despite the advent of virtual prototyping and computer-aided design technologies, challenges persist in achieving rapid parametric modeling of these systems, particularly due to their intricate assembly requirements and dynamics simulations. This paper develops a novel fast parametric modeling plugin for the simulation and design of tracked vehicle systems. It integrates advanced visualization techniques and an automatic assembly algorithm. Utilizing the open-source Open CASCADE library, the developed plugin facilitates sophisticated manipulations of 3D models. Leveraging an integrated Python console editor, the Python scripts are seamlessly converted into Open Inventor scripts and are rendered via the Coin3D engine. Ultimately, the model is displayed within the Qt graphical user interface framework. The key finding is the creation of the automatic assembly algorithm, which starts from an individual track link and automatically constructs a continuous track assembly. The case studies illustrate the systematic application of the parametric modeling technology in the dynamic modeling and optimization of a representative tracked vehicle, highlighting the plugin's efficiency and the accuracy. By employing a Particle Swarm Optimization algorithm to optimize the geometric parameters of wheels and tracks, the vehicle vibration has been reduced. The unique value of this paper lies in its contribution to the field of vehicle engineering through the provision of a robust parametric modeling tool that enhances the efficiency of virtual simulation and design processes.
