pattern optimization is proposed for a beam-steerable dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) array fed by a two-stage feeding network based on varactor-based phase shifter pairs. Based on the calibration on the feeding network and the actual measured radiation patterns, unexpected distortion of patterns such as inaccurate beam direction caused by material and fabrication tolerance can be corrected. According to the observed distortions, correcting phase differences on the phase shifter pair can be identified. To verify this process, two scenarios of accurate beam direction correction are illustrated in this paper. The optimized patterns obtained in measurement show that the proposed pattern optimization is efficient and practical for the beam-steerable array fed by varactor-based phase shifters.

Open Domain Question Answering (QA) represents a challenge of natural language processing, aiming at returning exact answers in response to natural language questions. Recently, it has been found that pattern matching is an effective strategy for QA. The technique of pattern optimization and its applications in QA are demonstrated in the paper. Named entity recognition is used to optimize the answer patterns. It makes the answer patterns have better extending ability. There are two important applications of pattern in QA. pattern-based query expansion retrieves more exact snippets including the correct answer and the performance is improved. Answer extraction which applies the pattern matching approach is also effective.

The accuracy and precision of digital image correlation (DIC) is based on three primary components: image acquisition, image analysis, and the subject of the image. Focus on the third component, the image subject, has been relatively limited and primarily concerned with comparing pseudo-random surface patterns. In the current work, a strategy is proposed for the creation of optimal DIC patterns. In this strategy, a pattern quality metric is developed as a combination of quality metrics from the literature rather than optimization based on any single one of them. In this way, optimization produces a pattern which balances the benefits of multiple quality metrics. Specifically, sum of square of subset intensity gradients (SSSIG) was found to be the metric most strongly correlated to DIC accuracy and thus is the main component of the newly proposed pattern quality metric. A term related to the secondary auto-correlation peak height is also part of the proposed quality metric which effectively acts as a constraint upon SSSIG ensuring that a regular (e.g., checkerboard-type) pattern is not achieved. The combined pattern quality metric is used to generate a pattern that was on average 11.6% more accurate than a randomly generated pattern in a suite of numerical experiments. Furthermore, physical experiments were performed which confirm that there is indeed improvement of a similar magnitude in DIC measurements for the optimized pattern compared to a random pattern.

This paper presents a hyperspectral image (HSI) reconstruction technique based on physics-driven optimization of multispectral filter array (MSFA) patterns. The encoding of HSIs using an MSFA and their decoding through deep learning has gained increasing attention. However, previous studies have seldom explored pattern optimization from a physical perspective during the encoding process. In this paper, we apply a spectral sensitivity function (SSF) response model to generate the MSFA, and the goal of encoder optimization extends from SSF to physical structural parameters. To fully utilize spatial and spectral information in the decoding process, we design an end-to-end dual-branch spatial-spectral fusion network (DSFNet). By jointly optimizing the MSFA with the SSF response model and DSFNet, the proposed method significantly improves the reconstruction accuracy of HSI. When compared with existing HSI reconstruction methods, our proposed approach achieves state-of-the-art performance in both metric and visual quality.

In the part I of this publication, we have shown that an optimization of the pad allowed us to decrease the actuator number of the active mirror without degrading the performances requirements. The other way to improve performance is presented and discussed in this paper and consists in fitting the pattern of actuators to the set of deformations required in order to decrease the number of actuators. The method we have developed is based on a modal analysis of the mirror. Finite element calculation produces the first dynamic modes of the mirror. Each deformation is decomposed as a linear combination of the dynamic modes. The first step of the optimization is to estimate for a well defined pattern, the best effort vector to perform each mode and to calculate the error associated. The second step is to calculate a overall error taking into account the statistical characteristics of the deformation. The final step consist in the minimization of this error by moving the pattern of actuators. The method of optimization is fully detailed as well as the numerical process used to find the minimum of the error. Many results as well as the advantages of this method are presented. Application of this method to the design of the active mirror of the Laser MegaJoules (French Ignition Program) is mentioned.

When particle swarm optimization (PSO) is used to optimize antenna array pattern, all particles are always initialized randomly, but here a new initialization method are presented to improve PSO optimizer convergence. On the basis of desired pattern the corresponding aperture weights are solved by analytical techniques which can to a great extent ensure that these weights are efficient estimations of the current optimum particle initial values. Then they are assigned to a particle as initial values, but all other particles of the swarm are still initialized randomly. Except this new initialization step nothing is changed in the standard PSO optimizer. The simulation results prove that this new optimizer converges faster and deeper than the standard PSO especially in more complicated optimization problems. So the presented new PSO optimizer is more effective and can achieve better optimized solutions which can meet the specifications well.

Evaluation of the Spatiotemporal Evolution of China's Ecological Spatial Network Function-Structure and Its pattern optimization

(1) Background: Eco-spatial networks play an important role in enhancing ecosystem services and landscape connectivity. It is necessary to study landscape structure optimization to achieve synergistic gains in network connectivity and ecosystem functionality. (2) Method: Based on remote sensing data, RS and GIS were used to evaluate the spatiotemporal changes in ecosystem services in China. Combined with complex network theory, the spatiotemporal evolution of China's ecological spatial network and its topological structure from 2005 to 2020 is discussed. Network function-structure co-optimization was carried out using the edge augmentation strategy. (3) Result: The "three River resource" has high water conservation and high soil and water conservation in southeastern hilly areas. There is strong windbreak and sand fixation in southeastern Inner Mongolia. In the past 15 years, there have been about 8200 sources and about 14,000 corridors. The network has the characteristics of small-world and heterogeneity. After optimization, 18 sources and 3180 corridors are added, and the network connectivity and robustness are stronger. Finally, five regions are divided according to the network heterogeneity and corresponding protection and management countermeasures are proposed to provide scientific guidance for the country's territorial space planning.

When PSO is used to optimize planar array's antenna pattern, its convergence will be improved greatly by some effective estimations of the optimum particle's initial value. A new estimation method is presented in which the optimum particle's initial values are first estimated by Taylor aperture weights, then PSO is used to optimize planar array's pattern. The simulation results show that the Taylor weights method can improve PSO's convergence far more effectively than random weights and analytical weights, because the fitness function converges more deeply and rapidly. So the new optimizer presented here is more valid and practicable especially for planar arrays' pattern nonlinear optimization.

PurposeThe aim of this paper is to achieve a reasonable microclimate between clothing and the human body and optimize the custom dress ***/methodology/approachAn interactive design method of 3D modeling, virtual try-on and heat transfer simulation are used. First, a 3D dress is designed with nonuniform rational B-splines curves and tried on virtually. After that, the heat transfer in the body-air-clothing microclimate and temperature distributions on the clothing surface are obtained. Based on the heat transfer in the body-air-clothing system, we design a method to improve the thermal comfort by optimizing the garment pattern digitally. Then, this paper utilized two heat transfer validating indexes to quantify the improvement of thermal comfort, and evaluate the modified model of *** microclimate under the clothing is varied with the air gap distance, and the heat transfer on the area of the clavicle, bust point and front abandon are higher than other parts due to the narrow air gaps. In view of thermal comfort, the pattern optimization changes the distance ease and reforms the air circulating efficiency. The mean heat transfer and its standard variance are changing by about 10% and more than 20%. Thus, the heat transfer evaluation indexes are suitable to represent the heat transfer and thermal comfort in the microclimate *** limitations/implicationsIt can be concluded that the methodology proposed in this paper has the advantage of interactive design, 3D visualization and local heat transfer simulation. UWB Transparent Metamaterial Absorber With Optimally patterned Gold Nanolayer

A novel thin, optically transparent microwave metamaterial absorber (TMMA) is presented. The proposed structure utilizes a 3-mm-thick polycarbonate (PC) main substrate coated on both sides with 8-nm-thick gold thin films deposited via thermal evaporation. To achieve maximum absorption bandwidth, polarization insensitivity, and angular stability, the unit cell of the TMMA is optimized through a pixelation and binary optimization technique. This process results in an optimal pattern of gold nanolayer on the upper surface of the substrate. The resulting periodic pattern is transferred using optical lithography. The bottom gold film acts as the electrical ground plane. An additional 3-mm-thick PC superstrate is then incorporated to improve impedance matching and protect the coating of the main substrate. Comprehensive full-wave electromagnetic simulations are employed to assess the absorption performance. The design is subsequently validated through sample fabrication and experimental measurements. The proposed TMMA exhibits over 90% absorption within an ultrawideband (UWB) range of 5.1-25.2 GHz while maintaining an average optical transparency of approximately 70%. The symmetrical design additionally offers wide angular stability and minimal polarization sensitivity.
