A large quantity of disorders that occur in the gastrointestinal tract have always been challenging to be diagnosed in a complex environment inside the human body, but with the invention and development of wireless capsule endoscope. Many patients that experienced traditional treatment will perceive stupendous convenience. Such wireless capsule endoscope requires a highly accurate localization system. The paper presents a positioning algorithm of internal the human body's capsule endoscope. The idea is to measure electromagnetic power by the capsule emitted that through the human body, and positioning the exact location of the capsule endoscope. The algorithm has been developed and simulated on MATLAB. Simulation results demonstrate it's highly accurateness.

Location management scheme with WLAN positioning algorithm for integrated wireless networks

The recent decade has witnessed a rapid growth in wireless communications technology. This study presents a location management scheme for integrated wireless networks and a signal-based positioning algorithm for WLAN. The proposed location management scheme provides location information to obtain from a hierarchical location database to mobile users and LBS providers. Additionally, a signal-based positioning algorithm is developed for indoor positioning based on WLAN received signal strength indication (RSSI). Approximated distribution modeling is applied to calculate the probability of users appearing in training points. This mechanism not only locates a mobile client precisely, but also reduces the cost of locating. A performance evaluation is performed to indicate the effectiveness of the proposed location management method, and provide suitable parameter settings. (C) 2008 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Real-time positioning algorithm for variable-geometry air-assisted orchard sprayer

An algorithm for positioning of spraying arms based on laser scanner measurements for a variable-geometry air-assisted orchard sprayer is proposed. Functioning of the algorithm is presented for a real sprayer intended for experimental spraying in orchards, which has three hydraulically movable spraying arms that cover one side of a row of trees. The developed algorithm is based on realtime measurements of tree canopies from a laser scanner mounted on the sprayer. According to the measured canopies of trees the spraying arms move linearly and angularly in a plane perpendicular to the row so that spraying nozzles which are located at the ends of the arms are optimally positioned. The algorithm calculates the optimal position for each of the three height segments of a tree (each covered by one arm) based on a simplified contour of the measured canopy of the corresponding row section. Inside the height segments the contour is simplified with a linear approximation using the least-squares method. The optimal position for each arm is then calculated so that the nozzle is directed normally to the linear fit of the contour at a distance for which full coverage of the tree height segment is achieved. The coverage is calculated with consideration of the spray angle. Due to sometimes great displacements between positions in consecutive time steps, calculated positions in each time step may not always be reachable in a real operation of the sprayer. Such great displacements are mainly a result of variable growth of trees and angular sensitivity of the algorithm. The latter is expressed when a change in the contour shape causes a changed direction of a normal which further on causes a change in the position of the arm. This change of position can be interpreted in relation to the change of the contour shape as amplified proportionally to the distance between the arm and the linear fit. A rapid convergent positioning algorithm based on projected cancellation technique for pseudolite positioning systems

In many harsh environments where a global navigation satellite system (GNSS) is absent or satellite signals are blocked, pseudolite positioning systems (PLPSs) can provide stand-alone positioning service with high accuracy and flexible deployment of base stations. Nevertheless, since distances from users to pseudolites in PLPS are much closer than those to satellites in GNSS, PLPSs suffer severely from nonlinearity problems because linearization applied in traditional linearization-based positioning algorithms leads to errors in the mathematical model that impact the convergence of iterations and possibly significantly deviate positioning solutions from actual positions. To enhance the convergence performance of positioning algorithms under severe nonlinearity situations, we propose a projected cancellation (PC) technique that linearizes pseudoranges at the reference and user sites on a virtual site. Single-differenced pseudoranges effectively eliminate the nonlinear error terms. Therefore, the observation model is transformed into an approximately linear version, and the traditional positioning algorithms are more suitable to be employed. Based on this, we develop a fusion positioning algorithm that adaptively combines the projected cancellation technique with different linear positioning algorithms according to the severity of nonlinearity in order to achieve a positioning service with more rapid convergence and a higher convergence success rate. Both simulated and experimental results under various cases are obtained and compared with those of traditional algorithms. Numerical results show that the proposed algorithm improves the overall positioning accuracy by approximately 30% under severe nonlinearity situations without additional time cost compared with the existing algorithms. Moreover, it provides a significant reduction of about 48% in time cost, yielding equivalent accuracy as the Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm in normal applications fields. Real-world exp

Fusion positioning algorithm of indoor WiFi and bluetooth based on discrete mathematical model

Aiming at the problem of limited beacon coverage and low positioning accuracy when indoor WiFi and Bluetooth are positioned separately, the fusion positioning algorithm of indoor WiFi and Bluetooth based on discrete mathematical model is studied. The position fingerprint method is used to realize WiFi indoor positioning through two stages of "off-line/training" and "on-line positioning". The intensity of Bluetooth is obtained through Gauss distribution model. The intensity of Bluetooth signal and the relationship between the distance corresponding to Bluetooth and signal intensity are used to obtain the positions of multiple groups of points to Bluetooth nodes. And then the final positioning coordinates of users are obtained by centroid algorithm. The prior location results and distribution are obtained by multi-source prior information fusion between WiFi and Bluetooth. The optimal Bayesian posterior distribution density function is used to estimate the coordinate deviation, which is used to correct the fusion positioning results and obtain the optimal estimation of the coordinates of WiFi and Bluetooth fusion positioning. The experimental results show that the algorithm can locate indoor volunteers with a positioning accuracy of more than 98% and a positioning time of less than 5 s, which has a high positioning performance.

An Improved positioning algorithm in a Long-Range Asymmetric Perimeter Security System

In this paper, an improved positioning algorithm is proposed for a long-range asymmetric perimeter security system. This algorithm employs zero-crossing rate to detect the disturbance starting point, and then utilizes an improved empirical mode decomposition to obtain the effective time-frequency distribution of the extracted signal. In the end, a cross-correlation is used to estimate the time delay of the effective extracted signal. The scheme is also verified and analyzed experimentally. The field test results demonstrate that the proposed scheme can achieve a detection of 96.60% of positioning errors distributed within the range of 0- +/- 20 m at the sensing length of 75 km, which significantly improves the positioning accuracy for the long-range asymmetric fence perimeter application.

Investigation of positioning algorithm and method for increasing the linear measurement range for four-quadrant detector

The paper studied the relationship between the light spot position and the output voltage in the case of laser spot which is in the four-quadrant (4Q) detector whose shape is circle or elliptic, energy distribution uniform or Gaussian. The study is based on add-subtract algorithm, diagonal algorithm and difference over sum (Delta/Sigma) algorithm. By using methods of polynomial fitting it can get a simple polynomial expression to enhance measuring speed and the simulation error is given. A method of using Binary Optics Elements (BOE) to shape the laser beam in the 4Q detector to square light spot with uniform intensity distribution is proposed to expand linear measurement range. An improved positioning algorithm for dual Mach-Zehnder interferometry (DMZI) disturbance sensing system is proposed. We employ zero-crossing method, which can be computed easily to extract the disturbance signal segment with maximum zero-crossing rate. Meanwhile, we use general cross correlation based on Wiener filtering and G(nn) subtraction weighting function (WG-GCC) to estimate the time delay of the extracted signal, which is robust to the correlated noise. Finally, we experimentally demonstrate that the proposed positioning algorithm can greatly improve the positioning accuracy with positioning error of +/- 20 m. Compared with the traditional positioning algorithm, the positioning error has been reduced by an order of magnitude. This algorithm has a promising potential in real-time fence perimeter applications.

Simulation research on high precision multimode GNSS positioning algorithm

The traditional Gauss-Newton iterative method is highly dependent on the initial value when locating the multimode GNSS receiver. If the difference between the initial value and the true value is higher, the algorithm has the problem of increasing number of iterations, and the algorithm lacks the self main monitoring process of the GNSS receiver, which leads to a great reduction in the positioning accuracy. A high precision multi-mode GNSS positioning algorithm is proposed. It is based on the composition and working principle of multimode GNSS multimode receiver, and the pseudo distance positioning distance is obtained by using GNSS multi constellation combined location algorithm. It uses a direct algorithm without initial value and iteration through the new algorithm of high precision positioning. After linearizing the pseudo range location distance equation, the user's general position is calculated. After the pseudo range location distance equation is carried out in the general position of the user, the user's position correction is calculated by weighted least squares, and the exact location of the user is obtained. The receiver autonomous integrity monitoring (RAIM) algorithm based on the least square residual method of GNSS receiver is used to realize the self-improvement monitoring of GNSS, and to further improve the precision of the multi-mode GNSS positioning algorithm. Experimental results show that the proposed location algorithm has high location accuracy and stability.

The POI positioning algorithm and artificial intelligence discussed in this article are the POI information system, that is, the software system of the platform.
