This work presents an adaptive fixed-time speed controller of permanent magnet synchronous motors for a class of second-order nonlinear systems based on practical fixed-time stability, in which a sliding mode surface with a constant exponent coefficient is designed to avoid singularities and achieve a fast convergence rate. This method is easy to implement compared to other sophisticated fixed-time controllers. In addition, the upper bound of control inputs is selected to prevent saturation limitations. Following that, the Lyapunov function expresses the close-loop stability of a practical fixed-time controller. An adaptive disturbance rejection with smooth function is presented to attenuate the total disturbances, chattering, and steady-state error. The tracking error is integrated into a bounded residual region within a specified time. Finally, numerical simulations are given to verify the performance of both controller and disturbance rejection mechanisms.

This article concentrates upon the practical fixed-time adaptive neural tracking control problem of non-strict-feedback nonlinear systems with input delay and prescribed boundary constraints (PBCs). A modified appropriate auxiliary system is introduced to eliminate the complex calculations appeared in the input delay. The unknown nonlinear functions exist in non-strict-feedback nonlinear systems, which are approximated by the radial basis function neural networks. The adaptive practical fixed-time control strategy is developed based on a novel coordinate transformation by utilizing the backstepping algorithm. Under the proposed controller, it can be guaranteed that the tracking error satisfies the PBCs in fixed time and all the signals in the closed-loop system are bounded. Some numerical simulations verify the effectiveness of the control approach.

The article investigates an adaptive practical fixed-time tracking control of nonlinear systems with prescribed boundary constraints. The main control objective is that the system output variable tracks the desired signal at fixed time, and the tracking error can also converge to the prescribed boundary constraints. Primarily, a new coordinate transformation is introduced, which will be utilized in the proposed controller. Next, based on the backstepping scheme, the sufficient conditions for the existence of the adaptive practical fixed-time tracking controller are presented. Meanwhile, the fuzzy logic systems are employed to approximate to unknown parts in the controlled system. Theoretical analysis shows that the tracking error converges to the prescribed boundary constraints at fixed time. At the same time, all the signals in the closed-loop controlled system are bounded and the controlled system is practically fixed-time stable. At last, simulation results verify the effectiveness of the proposed scheme by comparing the cases with/wihtout prescribed boundary constraints.

This article investigates an adaptive practical fixed-time control strategy for the output tracking control of a class of strict feedback nonlinear systems. By utilizing a backstepping algorithm, finite-time Lyapunov stable theory, and fuzzy logic control, a novel adaptive practical fixed-time controller is constructed. Fuzzy logic systems are introduced to approximate the unknown items of the system. Theoretical analysis proves that under the presented control strategy, the closed-loop system is practically fixed-time stable, and the tracking error converges to a small neighborhood of the origin within a fixed-time interval, in which the convergence time has no connection with the initial states of the system. In the meantime, all the signals of the closed-loop system are bounded. Finally, a numerical example is presented to indicate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed method.

The issue of practical fixed-time control is investigated for a category of uncertain nonlinear systems with input dead-zone constraint. Many practical control systems are subject to the constraint of communication resources and input dead zone, which affects the system's performance and even results in system instability. To handle the above problems, an extended radial basis function neural networks (ERBFNNs) adaptive event-triggered control method is developed to enable the online compensation of input dead zone and schedule the update of control signals. On this foundation, based on the fixed-time stability theorem, a practical fixed-time event-triggered controller is established by the backstepping technique. Technically, the controller can guarantee that the tracking error converges into a small and adjustable set in a fixed time under different initial states, and the boundary of convergence time is dependent on the adjustable design parameters. Meanwhile, all the closed-loop signals are bounded, the communication resources are saved, and the Zeno behavior is also avoided. Finally, some simulation examples are given to illustrate the validity of the presented strategy.

This article deals with the fixed-time control design issue for stochastic multi-agent systems (MASs). First of all, anew practical fixed-time stability criterion in probability is proposed. Compared with existing works, the settling time is exclusively determined by design parameters, signifying that it can be calculated with precision. Utilizing this stability criterion, a fixed-time control strategy for stochastic MASs is designed, principally leveraging the backstepping control techniques and the radial basis function neural networks (RBF NNs). Additionally, the singularity problem in the control scheme is avoided by exploiting L'H & ocirc;pital's rule. With the designed control strategy, the stochastic MASs achieve practical fixed-time stability. Furthermore, the tracking errors converge to an adjustable range near zero. The effectiveness of the proposed control strategy is verified by a series numerical simulation.

This article investigates the practical fixed-time optimal consensus problem for multiagent systems (MASs). Under the detailed balanced digraph, a controller with tangent function is constructed so that the MASs can reach consensus within a fixed time and then gradually converges to the global optimal solution on the basis of reaching stability. Besides, an important lemma about hyperbolic tangent function is derived to contribute to the stability analysis. In the process, an adaptive dynamic event-triggered mechanism (ADETM), including anti-cotangent function, is constructed to achieve the number of controller updates is significantly reduced. Eventually, the validity of the consensus control method proposed in this article is verified by a numerical simulation and a power system simulation.

The current study concerns the practical fixed-time consensus tracking problem of second-order nonlinear multi-agent systems (MASs) with switching topologies. The neural network (NN) and adaptive technique are adopted to compensate the unknown nonlinearities of the followers. Then, an adaptive NN-based fixed-time controller is designed under switching interaction topologies. In order to give the rigorous proof of the practical fixed-time consensus tracking, a novel lemma for analyzing the practical fixed-time stability of the switched error system is firstly established, then by constructing appropriate topology-dependent multiple Lyapunov functions, we theoretically show that the practical fixed-time consensus tracking of the closed-loop MASs can be ensured provided that the dwell time of the switching topologies is larger than a predefined threshold and further the involved control parameters are suitably selected. Moreover, the settling time estimation is explicitly given, which is regardless of the system's initial values. The theoretical results are finally verified via a numerical simulation.

This article focuses on the practical fixed-time consensus tracking problem of second-order multi-agent systems (MASs) with mismatched disturbances and matched disturbances under directed graph. Actually, the leader can be a virtual signal or an actual agent. Considering these two situations, followers can track the leader in a finite time with uniform bound. By using the adding-a-power-integrator method, two fixed-time control protocols are proposed, thus the practical fixed-time tracking consensus is achieved in finite time, and settling time is independent of initial states. Finally, several simulations are given to further illustrate the effectiveness of the theory.

This article aims to derive an anti-disturbance tracking control algorithm for flexible air-breathing hypersonic vehicles (FAHVs) with uncertain aerodynamic parameters, external disturbances, input saturation and limited transmission resources. Based on the framework of the backstepping technique, a novel event-triggered appointed-time fast tracking control protocol is proposed. Firstly, augmented sliding mode observers are used to provide the estimation of the lumped disturbances. Then, to guarantee satisfactory transient response and steady-state performance, the practical fixed-time controller and the appointed-time prescribed performance controller are designed. In addition, to address the problem of actuator saturation, the auxiliary system and the saturation approximate function are introduced. Finally, two event-triggered mechanisms are applied to exactly determine when control signals should be updated, which naturally eliminate unnecessary waste of transmission resources. Our proposed method not only reduces the execution frequency of the actuator, but also further optimizes the transient and steady-state performance. The proposed control scheme achieves a balance between reducing communication frequency and improving the closed-loop system performance. The feasibility and the effectiveness of the proposed strategy is validate through simulations.
