In this paper, in the case of channel error, aiming at reducing the mean-square error(MSE) of the user's received signal, a robust pre-coding scheme based on convex optimization theory is proposed. The errors in the channel state information are assumed to be bounded, therefore, the system's MSE will also be in an uncertain region, by minimizing the worst-case MSE within this range, optimal pre-coding matrices can be obtained, which thus can solve a range of MSE-optimization problems, including sum MSE minimization and max per-user MSE minimization. The Coordinated Beam forming(CB) scene optimization can be achieved directly by utilizing the method of single-cell MIMO scene to extend, but in the Joint Processing(JP) scene, as each base station(BS) has individual power constraint, it is hard to optimize directly, this paper takes minimizing the upper bound of the user's received signal as the goal to optimize the design. Simulation results demonstrate that compared with the conventional pre-coding schemes, the proposed scheme can enhance the quality of the system effectively and reduce MSE.

A new blind channel estimation method based on Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) for a multiple input multiple output orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (MIMO-OFDM) system is described. This channel estimation method is accompanied by a simple block pre-coding scheme. Computer simulations for a 2×2 MIMO OFDM system are presented followed by a discussion of advantages and disadvantages of the proposed channel estimation method.

Managing the Interference Structure of MIMO HSDPA: A Multi-User Interference Aware MMSE Receiver with Moderate Complexity

It is known that Wideband Code-Division Multiple Access (W-CDMA) networks are limited by interference more than by any other single effect. Due to the frequency selectivity of the wireless channel, intra-cell interference composed of self-and other-user interference occurs. The intra-cell interference as a result of Transmit Antenna Array (TxAA) HSDPA multi-user transmissions, however, shows a special structure that can be exploited to allow for an efficient interference suppression. The contributions of this article are the following: we (a) propose a suitable system model to derive an intra-cell interference aware Minimum Mean Squared Error (MMSE) equalizer with moderate complexity and investigate its capabilities to suppress the multi-user intra-cell interference, (b) propose solutions to estimate the pre-coding state of the cell both with and without available training, and (c) investigate the resulting throughput performance with physical layer as well as system-level simulations. Our proposed solution can be interpreted as a multi-user extension of the classical MMSE equalizer for HSDPA systems without decoding the undesired users, resulting in only slightly increased complexity.

In this paper, we propose a virtual spatial modulation (VSM) scheme that performs index modulation on the virtual parallel channels resulting from the singular value decomposition of the multi input -multi-output channels. The VSM scheme conveys information through both the indices of the virtual parallel channels and the M-ary modulated symbols. We derive a closed-form upper bound on the average bit error probability (ABEP), which considers the impact of imperfect channel estimation. Moreover, the asymptotic ABEP is also studied, which characterizes the error floor under imperfect channel estimation and the resulting diversity order as well as the coding gain under perfect channel estimation. Computer simulations verify the analysis and show that the VSM scheme can outperform the existing pre-coding aided spatial modulation schemes under the same spectral efficiency.

Improved space-time processing for X channel using precoders

The article investigates how to send perfect space-time codes with low feedback amount and symbol-by-symbol decoding for X channel using precoders. It is assumed that two users are introduced with two antennas and two receivers. Each user employs a rate-2 space-time block code and follows certain rule when sending codewords. The multi-user interference is eliminated by pre-coding at the transmitter and linear processing at the receiver. Compared with the existing scheme for the same scene, the proposed scheme greatly reduces feedback amount and improves the transmission efficiency, while keeping the same decoding complexity. Simulations demonstrate the validity of the proposed scheme.

A Novel Multi-Satellite Multi-Beam System with Single Frequency Reuse Applying MIMO

This paper introduces a new multi-satellite multi-beam system with single frequency reuse;it uses the MIMO (Multi Input Multi Output) technique to improve the frequency efficiency as the satellite communication band is limited. MIMO is the one of the most important approaches to improve the spectral efficiency in support of broadband communications. Since it is difficult to achieve high spectral efficiency by simply combining conventional MIMO satellite techniques, i.e. combining a multi-beam system with single frequency reuse with a multiple satellite system, this paper proposes transmitter pre-coding and receiver equalization techniques to enhance the channel capacity even under time/frequency asynchronous conditions. A channel capacity comparison shows that the proposed system is superior to conventional alternatives.

Spatial Phase coding With CoMP for Performance Enhancement Based on MIMO-OFDM in HetNet System

This paper proposes a performance enhancement scheme using a coordinated multi-point (CoMP) with spatial phase coding (SPC) based on multiple-input-multiple-output orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (MIMO-OFDM) in a heterogeneous network (HetNet) system. In the conventional system, the performance of the mobile terminal (MT) is degraded due to the inter-cell interference (ICI). When the MT is located on the cell edge, the performance and quality of service (QoS) of the MT are attenuated due to the interference caused by the signal transmitted from the adjacent base station (BS) or the signal broadcasted by other MTs. In order to increase the reliability of the MT, the proposed scheme uses a pre-coding and the CoMP scheme in HetNet. The proposed scheme can increase the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the MT through the SPC scheme in the transmitter. Therefore, the proposed scheme can mitigate the performance degradation caused by the ICI and can enhance the reliability of the MT. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme has better bit error rate (BER) performance and has higher throughput than the conventional scheme. Therefore, the proposed scheme enhances the performance of the MT by using SPC with CoMP.

Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) based on Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA) has been previously studied to fulfil the demands of high spectral efficiency, massive connectivity and resilience to frequency selectivity for the upcoming fifth generation (5G) wireless communication and beyond. NOMA enables spectrum overlapping and allows distinct users to simultaneously operate over the same frequency band, and thus enables massive connectivity. High Peak-to-Average Power Ratio (PAPR) and sensitivity to Carrier Frequency Offset (CFO) are significant demerits to deploy such a multi-carrier system for 5G and beyond applications. This paper studies the problem of high PAPR and the presence of CFO with efficient pre-coding techniques and a very simplified receiver design. An improved Minimum Mean Square Error (MMSE) receiver is proposed for low-complexity Joint Equalization and CFO Compensation (JECC) in frequency domain using Banded-Matrix Implementation (BMI). Moreover, we have investigated the sensitivity of different pre-coding techniques to channel and CFO estimation errors. (C) 2019 Elsevier GmbH. All rights reserved.

Distributed interference alignment algorithm in downlink multi-user cooperative networks

In multi-user cooperative cognitive network, the primary user and cognitive user can not share the same spectrum band simultaneously, which leads to low spectrum utilization. Based on this fact, a distributed interference alignment algorithm based on a relay is proposed. This algorithm considers cognitive user as a relay, which means it transmits both its own transmitting signal and the primary user's transmitting signal. At receivers, they can separate their desired signals without interference. The primary link does not need to perceive the existence of cognitive link. The proposed algorithm makes the complexity of pre-coding low. Its process of pre-coding is implemented by the relay. In addition, analysis and simulation results show that the channel capacities of primary and cognitive link are all improved compared with those of traditional algorithms in both strong and weak correlation channel conditions.

Effective Capacity of Multisource Multidestination Cooperative Systems Under Cochannel Interference

We introduce a novel analytical framework for the end-to-end (e2e) maximum throughput under delay constraints, namely effective capacity (EC), for multisource and multidestination amplify-and-forward cooperative networks. The network operates in the presence of Rayleigh fading and employs frequency-division duplex nodes having the ability to simultaneously transmit as sources and receive as relays. Cochannel interference and noise are present at the relay nodes, whereas the destination nodes are noise limited. A linear precoding technique is applied during reception to combine the input signals. As precoding, zero forcing (ZF), maximal-ratio combining (MRC), and minimum mean-squared error (MMSE) are studied. Each relay forwards the received signal to the destination by employing the maximum-ratio transmission (MRT) scheme. Both exact analytical expressions and tight high signal-to-noise ratio bounds of e2e EC are obtained for the ZF/MRT scheme while the optimal power allocation problem maximizing the e2e EC is also addressed. For the MRC/MRT and MMSE/MRT schemes, we derive approximate, yet highly accurate EC analytical expressions, as well as asymptotically tight closed-form expressions. Selected numerical and simulation results show that MMSE/MRT always yields the best performance followed by the ZF/MRT and MRC/MRT schemes. Moreover, it is shown that as the number of relay nodes increases, the ZF/MRT and MMSE/MRT schemes achieve almost identical and always better e2e EC performance than the MRC/MRT one.
