The compressed beamforming weights feedback is used in the precoded MIMO-OFDM system, e.g., IEEE 802.11n/ac WLAN, to reduce the amount of feedback information. The precoded sub-system at the receiver of this system needs to perform singular value decomposition (SVD) on the estimated channel matrices at all sub-carriers. The computed angles of the right singular vectors are to be feedback to the transmitter. Also the computed singular values and left singular vectors are to be used for designing the optimal detector. Under the exemplary scenario of four antennas at the access point and two antennas at the station, our designed architectures for the precoding sub-system can provide SVD throughput rates 16.8 and 50.4 M matrices/sec for the uplink and downlink transmissions, respectively.

Representation and coding of transform coefficients is a key factor in image *** this work,we introduce a coefficient representation model,called *** proposed method is able to bring more kinds of symbols and significance states,which deeply develops the correlations among transform *** utilizing new symbols and states,more precise classification can be achieved,which directly determines the prediction coding *** results show that tri-plane representation outperforms the traditional bit-plane form in entropy,which removes more redundancy among coefficients and obtains more potential to improve coding *** hope this work would motivate more research and application work along this direction.

We consider the general MIMO relay network with K user pairs and R relays. The model to maximize the total signal to total interference plus noise ratio, with individual relay transmit power constraints, is set up. We constrain the precoding matrices to have orthogonal columns to guarantee multiple stream transmission. By alternating iteration method, we decompose the problem into several subproblems. For the precoding subproblem, which is a nonconvex matrix optimization problem, we apply the projected gradient method to its dual problem and prove there is zero duality gap between the primal and the dual problems. Simulation results show our proposed multiple stream model is efficient to achieve high sum rate and outperform the existing model in medium to high SNR scenarios.

Recently, ITU finished its standard for ***, utilized in so called fiber-to-the-distribution-point (FTTdp) networks, where only the last meters from the fiber link to the customer are bridged by existing copper wires. The target is to increase the data rate over the short copper link up to 1 Gbit/s, which is an increase by the factor of ten compared to VDSL2, by extending the frequency band up to 212 MHz. At higher frequencies, the crosstalk between the lines is amplified, which makes crosstalk management essential to obtain the targeted data rates. Tomlinson-Harashima Precoding (THP) is a non-linear precoding technique, which is considered for the 212 MHz *** systems. Up to now, linear zero-forcing (ZF) and weighted minimum mean-square-error (WMMSE) precoding, as well as ZF THP, have been investigated for ***. In this paper, we show how WMMSE THP can be utilized in this scenario. We show that WMMSE THP outperforms ZF THP in terms of achievable rate in large systems. However, we see that the rate gain is not significant, although the WMMSE THP solution almost achieves the channel capacity.

Welch-bound signature sets are optimal for over-saturated synchronous CDMA in terms of minimizing the multiple access interference. In this paper, precoding of the sum signal of Welch-bound signatures, in order to maximize the mean signal-to-interference ratio for conventional receivers, is analysed. The gain compared to normal sum signal is calculated, and also the effect on the energy of the sum signal is derived.

The fifth-generation (5G) wireless communication system is expected to provide increasing throughput with advanced transmitting and receiving techniques. This paper considers the problem of maximizing the downlink data rate in a multi-cell system by jointly designing transceiver filters, transmission ranks, and user associations. The base stations (BSs) are equipped with massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) antennas, and can cooperatively serve the user equipments (UEs) in the network. A global optimization problem is formulated to maximize the downlink weighted sum rate (WSR). We first propose a centralized solution by assuming the existence of a central controller and global channel state information (CSI). We use the re-weighted l_1 method to approximate the problem, and then solve it using the fractional programming (FP) algorithm. Since the centralized algorithm only requires local channel and signal information, we decompose it and propose a distributed algorithm based on the idea of bi-directional training (BIT). By iterative uplink and downlink training, the precoders, receivers, and transmission ranks are adaptively optimized without explicit channel estimation. An uplink power control scheme is proposed to improve the fairness among the UEs. Simulation results are presented to evaluate the performance of proposed algorithms.

The superiority of exploring millimeter wave (mmWave) frequencies for future wireless communication systems has pushed forward the development of large-scale antenna arrays for achieving sufficient array gain and high spectral efficiency. In this paper, we study the matrix normalization (MN) based zero-forcing (ZF) hybrid precoding in multi-user multi-input-multi-output (MU-MIMO) mmWave systems. We derive the upper bounds of the achievable rate for two representative hybrid array structures, i.e., fully-connected structure and partially-connected structure. Analytical and simulation results validate the tightness of the proposed performance upper bounds for both hybrid structures using massive array, and provide a comparison of the achievable rate using MN and vector normalization (VN).

In this paper, we investigate the low-overhead feedback for statistical channel information in massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems. As a promising technique for next generation cellular networks, massive MIMO has gained a lot of attention due to its ability to significantly improve the network performance. To reduce the feedback overhead in frequency division duplex systems, cascaded precoding has been proposed for downlink transmission, where the outer precoder with reduced dimension is implemented through traditional limited feedback while the inner precoder is determined by the channel spatial covariance matrix. The size of the covariance matrix in massive MIMO is very large due to the huge number of antennas. In this paper, we propose a spectrum quantization approach to achieve efficient quantization of the covariance matrix with low-overhead feedback. In this approach, the quantization of the covariance matrix is conducted with respect to the corresponding spatial spectrum to avoid the complicated matrix calculation. Simulation results show that our approach can reduce the feedback overhead significantly at the cost of negligible performance degradation.

In this paper, the mutual coupling effect among antenna elements for the downlink multiuser multiple-input-single-output (MU-MISO) is studied. Different from conventional knowledge that the mutual coupling effect usually degrades the system performance, a joint analog-digital precoding scheme is proposed so that the system can benefit from this effect. Linear precoding approaches are applied in the digital domain, while in the analog domain, convex optimization is applied to determine the value of each load impedance such that the resulting noise amplification factor for the precoder is minimized. Simulation results show that the proposed analog-digital precoding schemes can achieve a significant performance gain over conventional precoding approaches with fixed mutual coupling.

In this paper, a general framework of the multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) transceiver design for 5G multiple access (5GMA), including both non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) and sparsity code multiple access (SCMA), is developed to enhance the system throughput of next generation of communication systems. By applying generalized singular value decomposition (GSVD), MIMO channels can be decomposed into multiple single-input single-output (SISO) channels, to which the concept of NOMA and SCMA can ideally be applied. GSVD based precoding is proposed to both uplink and downlink 5GMA transmissions, and simulation results are provided to demonstrate the performance of the proposed schemes.
