In this letter, the word line (WL) interference behavior in 3D NAND cell and the impact on program sequence of 3D NAND array operation are discussed. The WL interference induced by source-side neighboring cell is always smaller than that induced by drain-side neighboring cell. Due to this asymmetric characteristic, program sequence from top to bottom will have the advantage of suffering less operation window loss resulting from WL interference, over the traditional program sequence from bottom to top. This advantage can be clearly validated by the experimental results. However, at some specific WL's of the array, the trend is reversed. The root cause of the reverse trend is then clarified to result from the unexpected undercut of sacrificial nitride film occurring during the imperfect vertical channel etching process for 3D NAND array formation.

In ubiquitous environments, resources limitations and fluctuations combined with device mobility requires the dynamic adaptation of mobile applications. This paper reports on an extension of the MUSIC adaptation middleware to support aspect-oriented programming in order to handle cross-cutting adaptations. Basically, this extension specifies an architectural model for defining applications as a composition of aspects and components. The dynamic adaptation of an application in a given context is realised by selecting the appropriate component and aspect implementations using utility functions as a mean of optimising the overall QoS. Our approach and middleware are implemented and tested on top of OSGi framework.

Architectural heterogeneity is increasing: numerous products and studies have proven the benefits of combining cores and accelerators with varying ISAs into a single system. However, an underappreciated barrier to unlocking the full potential of heterogeneity is the need to specify and to reconcile differences in memory consistency models across layers of the hardware-software stack and among on-chip components. This paper presents ArMOR, a framework for specifying, comparing, and translating between memory consistency models. ArMOR defines MOSTs, an architecture-independent and precise format for specifying the semantics of memory ordering requirements such as preserved program order or explicit fences. MOSTs allow any two consistency models to be directly and algorithmically compared, and they help avoid many of the pitfalls of traditional consistency model analysis. As a case study, we use ArMOR to automatically generate translation modules called shims that dynamically translate code compiled for one memory model to execute on hardware implementing a different model.

We consider the problem of privately releasing aggregated network statistics obtained from solving a DC optimal power flow (OPF) problem. It is shown that the mechanism that determines the noise distribution parameters are linked to the topology of the power system and the monotonicity of the network. We derive a measure of "almost" monotonicity and show how it can be used in conjunction with a linear program in order to release aggregated OPF data using the differential privacy framework.

The distortion introduced by reversible watermarking depends on the embedding bit-rate. This paper proposes a fine control of the embedding bit-rate for low capacity histogram shifting reversible watermarking. The basic idea of our approach is to split the prediction error histogram into several histograms and to ensure the fine tuning of the bit-rate by selecting the appropriate bins for each histogram. The splitting is performed as a function of the prediction context. The bins (two for each histogram, one for the right side, another for the left side of the histogram) are selected by linear programming in order to minimize the distortion introduced by the watermarking. The proposed scheme outperforms in terms of embedding distortion the prior state of the art.
