In this paper, we introduced a high cost performance design of air flow control system consisting of a programmable computer controller (PCC) and 72 inverters. PCC communicates with all the inverters using USS protocol via RS485 bus, and the real-time performance of USS communication was analyzed for this system. The commissioning and analysis show that the total communication cycle time of a subnet is less than 500ms and the maximum deviation of the inverter frequency is 0.01Hz. This system can meet the requirements of high performance carbon fiber production.

A dynamic real-time simulator for hydraulic turbine generating unit based on programmable computer controller has been developed. The basic mathematical models of each component of the hydraulic turbine generating unit were analyzed. The hardware configuration and the software implementation of the dynamic real-time simulator were described in detail. With the simulator, the transients of the different Operating conditions of the hydraulic turbine generating unit could be calculated and simulated in real-time. The performance of the hydraulic turbine governor could be test and fine-tuned whether developed in the laboratory or installed in the field. The dynamic real-time simulator also can be operated as a training system for new workers of the hydro power plant Some simulations and field tests have been conduct with a prototype hydraulic turbine governor, and the results indicate that the dynamic real-time simulator has a good performance.

A programmable computer controller based stepping motor driven governor for Kaplan turbines is proposed. The governor generates directly pulses to control the rotation of the stepping motors, measures frequencies of the unit and network with its internal high speed counting pulses. The performance testing function is integrated into a PLC based governor at the first time. Its software is developed by a high level language, instead of Ladder Diagram. It features high reliability of a PLC, programming flexibility of C language, and short real time of IPC.
