Computer programming learning requires the acquisition of skills to design algorithms. The level of achievement of these skills depends on the student's effort involved to develop a program, as well as the final quality of the product. The level of skills that students achieve in programming courses is diverse, being able to observe significant differences in the degree of effectiveness of the solutions, as well as in the students' learning development time. This paper describes a pilot experience aimed at measuring the incidence of focused practical activities assigned by the teacher through a CMS, as well as the self regulation carried out by them. These aspects were measured and based on indicators derived from the activities carried out by the students in the CMS. The results are not statistically conclusive regarding the qualifications;however, the experience shows that it significantly improves the information available to the teacher and the student: (1) It provides the teacher with information regarding the ability of each student to solve different types of problems, at different moments during the course directly. (2) It allows the teacher to recommend activities or exercises tending to improve students' learning results, and (3)It provides the student with immediate feedback of the solution developed, to correct it when appropriate. The age reduction of acquaintance of children with programming is a worldwide trend. During long-term experiments, a freely distributed multiplatform educational and gaming system PictoMir was developed in the SRISA RAS, allowing preschoolers of the age 6+ to master a basic set of programming concepts: program, subroutine, repeater, feedback, command orders and command-questions, branching, repeaters, counters. In the 2016-2017 academic year, 902 children in 15 municipal kindergartens of Surgut successfully passed the annual cycle of "Algorithmic for Preschoolers", creating on the tablets programs for managing virtual robots and real robots-toys.

The growth of the mobile device market has generated a demand for specific applications and the consequent need for labor training to develop them. Such demand has as a direct consequence, a growing need for training of application developers. This work presents the use of the active learning methodology Challenge Based Learning (CBL) for the teaching of software development for mobile devices. The use of CBL for little more than a year in four classes of a free course with 110 students is presented. Some difficulties appeared and were solved with proposed actions. The results are obtained from objective and subjective evaluations and analyzed through thematic networks. Among the positive results CBL helps in understanding the problems to be solved and in its solution and has motivated students more than other methods. CBL showed to be an interesting active learning methodology for teaching Mobile Software Development and promising to be applied in other areas.

One of the major challenges related to teaching programming and algorithmics to amateur students is the time spent to explain a language's syntax. Also, students who undertake computer programming may find problems that hinder their understanding of concepts and the development of their problem-solving and programming skills. This paper presents the results of an experimental approach that evaluated the interaction of a group of Colombian students with a Web solution within the context of Mobile Robotics to learn programming and algorithmics. The designed Web App is oriented towards autodidactic learning by using Visual Blocks programming through five interactive modules that include concepts to be learned by students such as the following: variables, sensors, conditionals, cycles, and functions. The solution is designed to present virtual scenarios for Mobile Robotics. This proposal was evaluated with middle school students from the Colombian education system and was compared to the results obtained using Scratch as a reference tool.

programming course is a challenging field of computer science for both to teach and learn. Constructivism is a world-wide known social-scientific theory, and its teaching theories become more and more popular. By the analysis for the characteristic of programming course and the exist problems in programming teaching, the reform programme of programming teaching based on constructivism is proposed. The idea and goal of reform, classroom teaching, practical link, and a constructivist extracurricular Assistant learning platform based on internet and so on are introduced. The last part is summation and vista of the paper.

To address the problems existing in current college programming education, we consider that the cultivation of security coding ability may be combined within existing courses, such as programming courses, operating system and software engineering curriculum, etc. This paper reviews the authors' several-year practice of integrating the training of the students' security coding ability with programming courses. Three key stages of practice are introduced, which are organic combination with programming curricula, choosing proper textbooks and the introduction of security coding examples. The authors strive to achieve three improvements in the cultivation of students' ability: improvements from defensive programming to security programming, adding secure functions instead of security functions, and paying more attention to enhancing the software quality instead of security. The main contents of security software coding best practices integrated into our teaching practice are given. The testing result shows that the students' security coding ability can be improved, and in fact many of whom have performed well in job interview and get a good job.

The difficulty in learning and teaching the algorithms and programming subjects is a major concern for managers and teachers of Computer Science (CS) undergraduate courses. These are foundational subjects for CS professionals, yet continue to present a high degree of difficulty in learning for students. This paper presents two experiences we conducted with Computer Science beginner students related to the teaching of computer programming. Results obtained were positive and encouraging in a way that continues to be used with new students in CS courses. We are convinced that other actions like this one are vital for interdisciplinary work, preventing student evasion resulting from the learning environment, casting them as process actors. Algorithms and computer programming are becoming evermore necessary tools for academic and professional development.
