Grey-box model-based demand side management for rooftop PV and air conditioning systems in public buildings using pso algorithm

As the major power consumer in buildings, Heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems can significantly contribute to the economical operation of the power system during the peak periods in summer or winter, by flexibly responding to the grid demands. Indoor air temperature set-point resetting is a typical passive demand response (DR) control strategy that have potentials to be widely implemented by inverter air conditioners in residential buildings. However, in the existing small and medium-size public buildings, the compressor motor of HVAC systems mostly does not allow for stepless speed changes. This means that the indoor temperature set-point resetting strategy may results in frequent on/off switching of the chiller plant, leading to a compromised lifespan. Although rooftop photovoltaic systems (PVs) are expected to be widely adopted in new buildings, their potential for peak load shaving or valley load filling has received limited investigation. This study proposes a grey-box model-based demand side management (DSM) method for variable air volume systems (VAVs) and rooftop PVs in public buildings. The DSM method utilizes the particle swarm optimization (pso) algorithm to determine optimal indoor air temperature and/or evaporator outlet water temperature set-point schedules for the VAVs, as well as optimal charging/discharging schedules for the storage battery of rooftop PVs. This approach aims to reduce the peak power demands of the integrated system without causing severe thermal discomfort, increasing chiller mechanical costs (refers to frequent on/off switching of the chiller plant in this paper), or overcharging/over-discharging of storage batteries. The results of case studies demonstrate that the strategy of co-resetting indoor air temperature - evaporator outlet water temperature set-points outperforms the indoor air temperature set-point resetting strategy in terms of both peak power demands reduction and mechanical cost saving when applie

Robots whose geometric structure does not meet the Pieper criterion are called general robots. For the inverse kinematic operation of general robots, the closed solution method cannot be solved, and the numerical solution calculation amount is too large and the singular position cannot be calculated. To solve this problem, this paper proposes an inverse kinematics calculation method based on improved particle swarm optimization (pso) algorithm and applicable to general robots. In order to avoid the particle update rate not adapting to each stage of the optimization process, a nonlinear dynamic inertia weight adjustment method based on the concept of similarity is introduced, so that the search process is more robust;in addition, to overcome the problem of local optimal solution At the same time, multiple populations are introduced to perform optimization search at the same time, and the immigration operator is proposed to increase the diversity of the particle population in the iteration. This article uses Comau NJ-220 robot for test verification, compared with the original pso and multi-subswarm algorithm, the results show that the proposed improved pso has higher algorithm stability for general robot kinematics inverse solution problems, and can greatly improve the convergence accuracy and speed. This method provides a new solution to the field of robot inverse kinematics, and provides a more efficient and stable kinematics foundation for robot motion planning.

A Small-size Ultra-wide Wilkinson Power Divider Based On A New Ring-shaped Resonator Using The pso algorithm

We theoretically propose and numerically analyze a small-size Wilkinson power divider (WPD) based on a novel ring-shaped resonator that can create a wide bandwidth in the passband of the power divider. The WPD can attenuate 9 disturbing harmonics while the maximum insertion loss at the working frequency of 2.6GHz is about -3.08 dB. The structure consists of a pair of asymmetric cylindrical-shaped suppressors above and below the main transmission line. The overall dimensions of the structure are 8.5 mm × 11.8 mm, and the input return loss and isolation parameters are -41 dB and -17.3 dB, respectively, in the working frequency. Also, the fundamental frequency can be adjusted by changing the dimensions of the resonators and suppressors. The particle swarm optimization (pso) optimization algorithm has been used to analyze and calculate the inductor and capacitor values of the equivalent LC circuit of the proposed WPD. In the passband (1.4GHz to 3.3GHz) of this power divider, the output return loss and isolation are less than -15 dB and the insertion loss is between -3.08 dB and -3.13 dB, so the fractional bandwidth (FBW) is 73%. The structure is compact and easy to be fabricated and has potential applications in communication devices.

Thermally annealed DC sputtered indium tin oxide (ITO) thin films were investigated for improvement in properties. The structural and optoelectronic characteristics of as-grown and air annealed films were studied and correlated to the film deposition time. Raman spectroscopy analysis showed low crystalline quality films for as-grown films and were significantly improved after annealing. X-ray diffraction analysis confirmed the crystallinity of samples with (222) preferential orientation. The 30-min ITO films showed a peak at (400). The films optical study shows an increased transmittance (in the transparency region) with decreasing deposition time, yielding a high transparency of 90% for the 5-and 15-min ITO films annealed at 400 degrees C. The films thickness and optical constants were determined from optical transmission only without interference fringe using a novel method based on particle swarm optimization (pso) algo-rithm. The absorption coefficient and calculated refractive index decreased with increasing deposition time and their value reduced further after annealing treatment. The 30-min ITO films showed a comparable low resistivity of 4 9 10-3 X cm before and after annealing as determined by Hall effect measurements. This observation confirms their non-sensitivity to the oxygen post-contamination that resulted from (400) orientation. A shift of the absorption edge towards shorter wavelengths accompanied with an increase in the optical bandgap before and after annealing with decreasing thickness were observed. We have demonstrated that the optical parameters such as the optical gap depend mainly on the electrical parameters such as the carrier concentration.

Considering the safety factors in the railway, this paper mainly focuses on the optimal speed of high-speed train or locomotive from the starting station to the ending station. Firstly, some concepts in the railway safety, which include the risk source, hidden danger, accident and safety warning point, are introduced to better understand the railway safety factors. Secondly, the mathematical model including objective function and the corresponding constraints is analyzed to solve the optimal train speed problem. Thirdly, the pso algorithm is used to provide and design the optimal speed train from the starting station to the ending station. Simulation results show that pso algorithm can handle with the optimal train speed problem and the obtained optimal speed are provided to ensure the train safety in the constant transportation time.

The Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) represents the deployment of Internet of Things (IoT) technology in industrial applications. In this article, we address the challenges of fault diagnosis and data privacy protection within the IIoT environment. We present a novel fault diagnosis model that combines federated learning and a particle swarm optimization algorithm. Firstly, we introduce a three-tier federated learning model designed to safeguard the data privacy of each participant in a real industrial control network structure. Subsequently, we enhance the particle swarm optimization algorithm to augment its global exploration capabilities and convergence performance, enabling it to collect federated learning model weights in lieu of traditional techniques. Furthermore, we employ the Taguchi method to tailor an optimal solution for the modified particle swarm optimization algorithm (TMpso), thereby enhancing the algorithm's efficiency and robustness. Additionally, we propose a neural network model utilizing small convolutional kernels (SVGG) for fault diagnosis within the IIoT framework, thereby improving the model's feature learning capabilities. Experimental validation was conducted using actual industrial rolling bearing datasets and CIFAR-10 datasets. The results of these experiments demonstrate that our proposed TPMpso-SVGG model outperforms other methods in terms of fault identification accuracy and communication cost.

Wireless sensor network (WSN) is composed by a set of sensor nodes with low energy consumption and low cost which could sense quantities like humidity, temperature, pressure and send them to the central node. The routing optimization in IoT networks is required taking into account the traffic, congestion, and failure of some or all network services. In fact, low traffic and network congestion means high quality routing in that network. Increasing the network lifetime and improving the routing quality is one of the main concerns of IoT-based sensor networks. In this paper, a new clustering algorithm is proposed to increase the network efficiency in the IoT-based sensor networks using the fuzzy logic and particle swarm optimization (pso) algorithm. In this approach, the cluster was created in WSN using energy modelling for effective routing of data packages via using fuzzy logic and (pso). The stimulation results of the proposed method showed higher capabilities by comparison with reported algorithms (e.g. LEACH, FLCFP, HEED, FBCFP) s that were used for energy consumption optimization in WSN.

New design approach to improve the turbomachinery performance is the research hot in various areas. In order to make up for the shortcomings about the uncertain design variables ranges and the simple 2D blade profile design method in previous studies, a modified inverse design approach established on the newly derived constrained zone and the pso algorithm has been proposed in this study, and a developed design program with the Matlab platform was developed. With the adoption of the scaled 1:2.5 hydraulic model of the CAP1400 impeller as the target, the proposed joint design method was applied and verified.

This paper presents a study on the enhancement of the Maximum Power Point Tracking algorithm named: Perturb and Observe (P&O). The introduced techniques deal with the weaknesses of this algorithm, especially when high changes or oscillations occur around the Maximum Power Point (MPP). To this end, a proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controller optimized by the particle swarm algorithm (pso) is used to conceive an automatic and self-adaptive P&O algorithm for maximum power extraction from the HZ-20 Thermo Electrical Generator (TEG) module feeding a resistive load via a DC-DC converter. The introduced work is developed in the MatLab/Simulink environment. The obtained results are presented in terms of a comparative study between the two most known hybridization structures of the PID controller and the P&O algorithm.

Mathematical modelling, and integer programming generally, has many practical applications in the field of emergency system designing. Effective and fast solving approaches for real-sized problems constitute a key stone of the decision support systems. This paper is focused only on a special class of location problems in which the exact number of facilities are to be selected in order to minimize average response time of the emergency medical system. Since the exact methods are not suitable for their unpredictable computational time, we focus on usage of a special type of a particle swarm optimization algorithm transformed to a discrete mode. We aim at the goal to confirm the hypothesis that it is possible to suggest a sophisticated heuristic for the problem, which can produce a near-to-optimal solution in much smaller time than demanded by exact methods. Especially, we concentrate our effort on customization of the algorithm by usage of uniformly deployed set as a starting swarm and on determining its most convenient size. To verify the impact of the customization, computational study with real-sized benchmarks was performed.
