API standard 609 provides a purchase specification for butterfly valves designed for installation between flanges, as defined in several ASME codes, which specify certain details, the features and nondestructive requirements including testing. If industries want to manufacture butterfly valves meeting standards as demanded by the plant engineering market, they should follow the design guidelines provided in the related API and ASME codes. In the present study, the design process of the butterfly valve according to API standard 609 was developed and implemented to create a 3-dimensional feature of the butterfly valve. This can be utilized in CAE analysis without any complicated pre-process of FE-modeling. The design process consists of seven steps, from the selection of class to the determination of the maximal disc diameter. Each step can be automated by using the python script. Consequently, CAD data of the designed butterfly valve can be created using Xml-templates on the basis of a Grasshopper in Rhinoceros.

For the past few years we have been facing a great electricity crisis since the demand of electricity is more than the production. Hence it is very important to manage electricity efficiently. In this regard one of the major challenges in electricity management is misuse of the power consumption due to electricity theft in public area. In this paper we propose a technique that detects the electricity theft by remotely monitoring the electricity meter readings to see whether it is within the specified threshold value and thus minimizing the misuse of electric power consumption in public areas. It also aims in the reduction of manual workload by tracking the data automatically. The paper mainly focuses on the implementation of the concept using Internet of Things (IoT) as the underlying framework to achieve real time monitoring through Raspberry pi board.

Remote sensing has increasingly been used to estimate evapotranspiration (ET) and its supporting parameters in a rapid, accurate, and cost-effective manner. The goal of this study was to develop remote sensing-based models for estimating ET and the biophysical parameters canopy conductance (g(c)), upper-canopy temperature, and soil moisture for a mature loblolly pine forest (Pinus taeda L.) in the Parker Tract in eastern North Carolina. To validate the remote sensing approach, we acquired long-term on-site eddy flux measurements, including micrometeorological variables and water and energy fluxes. Other measured and derived ET-associated parameters include forest g(c), leaf area index, canopy absorbed radiation, canopy temperature, and soil moisture. Multi-temporal cloud-free (<= 10% cloud cover) Landsat 7 ETM+ satellite images from 2006-2012 were acquired. Field data for the 2 h (12: 00 noon to 2: 00 p.m.) means were used in the model, coinciding with the image acquisition time. Individual Landsat bands (1 through 7) and developed image vegetation indices (NDVI, SAVI, and VVI) for the study site were obtained through automated geospatial models and were correlated to measured ET flux and related parameters. An excellent coefficient of determination (R-2 = 0.93, n = 42) was obtained for the upper-canopy temperature versus band 6 (thermal infrared) model. However, a low correlation (R-2 = 0.36, n = 6) was obtained for gc versus band 5 (mid-infrared) model. The correlation for soil moisture versus band 7 was poor (R-2 = 0.05, n = 42), perhaps due to heavy canopy and pine litter ground cover. However, the ET estimation model with multiple image information variables, such as bands 5 and 7, provided a good correlation (R-2 = 0.55, n = 35) with less spatial and temporal variation in the datasets, along with no data mining application in model building. Therefore, this study suggests that the remote sensing approach is promising for estimating ET with good accuracy (avera

McCARD is a Monte Carlo (MC) neutron photon transport simulation code developed exclusively for the neutronics design and analysis of nuclear reactor cores. McCARD is equipped with the hierarchical modeling and scripting functions, the CAD-based geometry processing module, the adjoint-weighted kinetics parameter and source multiplication factor estimation modules as well as the burnup analysis capability for the neutronics design and analysis of both research and power reactor cores. This paper highlights applicability of McCARD for the research reactor core neutronics analysis, as demonstrated for Kyoto University Critical Assembly, HANARO, and YALINA. (C) 2014 Elsevier Ltd. Scientific workflow plays an important role in complex scientific analyses. Various components including local software packages and remote Web services can be integrated into scientific workflows. In the geospatial domain, geoprocessing workflows have been widely leveraged in spatial data analysis. Existing model builders, such as ESRI ModelBuilder and ERDAS Imagine Spatial Modeler are often limited to their own proprietary environments. With the development of Web Service technologies, an increasing amount of interoperable geoprocessing services are available. Workflow tools capable of integrating local and remote geoprocessing utilities are needed. This paper presents a scripting approach for integrating software packages and geoprocessing services into scientific workflows. The scripting approach is implemented by extending the GeoJModelBuilder, an existing workflow tool capable of supporting composition and execution of geoprocessing services following the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) standards. A hydrological analysis application of extracting drainage networks from Digital Elevation Model (DEM) data is used to demonstrate the approach.

Timberfabric structures, developed at IBOIS, are a new family of timber constructions based on the logic and principles of man-made fabrics. Modular elements called "timberfabric modules" are generated by curving and connecting two thin wooden panels. This paper concerns the study of vaults obtained by assembling together several timberfabric modules. A parametric tool is presented which can generate automatically a three-dimensional (3D) finite element model of a structure for a given set of initial parameters. This tool assists the architectural design of such structures, providing insights into their geometry as well as into the construction stresses and the kinematic constraints between different constitutive elements.

This paper proposes framework based on Black Box Testing methodology which is used for automatic testing of Set-top boxes (STB). Proposed framework for automatic testing can be used for functional testing, regression testing, performance testing and stress testing of STB. Complete system for automatic testing consists of web tool responsible for requirement and test management along with stand-alone application for execution of automatic test cases in form of scripts written in python programming language. Paper gives an overview of the whole system for automatic testing along with list of framework functions and their usage for creating automatic test cases.
