py-fmas: A python package for ultrashort optical pulse propagation in terms of forward models for the analytic signal

We present a flexible, open-source python package for the accurate simulation of the z-propagation dynamics of ultrashort optical pulses in nonlinear waveguides, especially valid for few-cycle pulses and their interaction. The simulation approach is based on unidirectional propagation equations for the analytic signal. The provided software allows to account for dispersion, attenuation, four-wave mixing processes including, e.g., third-harmonic generation, and features various models for the Raman response. The propagation equations are solved on a periodic temporal domain. For z-propagation, a selection of pseudospectral methods is available. Propagation scenarios for a custom propagation constant and initial field pulses can either be specified in terms of a HDF5 based input file format or by direct implementation using a python script. We demonstrate the functionality for a test-case for which an exact solution is available, by reproducing exemplary results documented in the scientific literature, and a complex propagation scenario involving multiple pulses. The graphical user interface is a key element in facilitating the use of complex simulation software. This project describes the development of a graphical user interface called "ERSN-OpenMC-Py" for an existing neutron simulation code, OpenMC. The main goal is to make simulation more accessible to a wider audience by providing a user-friendly and intuitive user interface. The process of developing the graphical user interface is described in detail, including the different stages of development such as user interface design, user interface implementation, and user interface integration with the OpenMC simulation code. The development tools used, such as python3 and PyQt5, are also explained. The user interface allows the user to control the simulation parameters and interact with the simulation results. Key features of the user interface include visualization of simulation results, modification of simulation parameters, saving and loading simulation configurations, as well as managing output files. The end result is a functional user interface that allows users to easily visualize simulation results and control simulation parameters in an intuitive manner. This user interface also provides a better user experience for non -programming experts who wish to use the simulation code for their own projects. We present secml, an open-source python library for secure and explainable machine learning. It implements the most popular attacks against machine learning, including test-time evasion attacks to generate adversarial examples against deep neural networks and training-time poisoning attacks against support vector machines and many other algorithms. These attacks enable evaluating the security of learning algorithms and the corresponding defenses under both white-box and black-box threat models. To this end, secml provides built-in functions to compute security evaluation curves, showing how quickly classification performance decreases against increasing adversarial perturbations of the input data. secml also includes explainability methods to help understand why adversarial attacks succeed against a given model, by visualizing the most influential features and training prototypes contributing to each decision. The procurement of large and complex HPC systems necessitates an extensive planning process. This process should ideally include the independent performance evaluation and validation of available solutions to maximize system throughput for expected workloads. This assessment procedure typically requires the arduous task of compiling, configuring and running multiple application benchmarks on every competing architecture, where any combination of hardware and software may produce unique idiosyncrasies and time consuming pitfalls. In addition, the possible lack of standardization and communication within a research group may produce discrepancies in evaluation methodology, affecting consistency between results. The BenchTool utility was developed to provide a framework to automate the compilation of applications, the execution of benchmarks using said applications, and the collection of results including supplementary provenance data.

The global consumption trend of facial skin care products market is gradually changing. With the concept of preventing aging from becoming more common, the age level of using facial skin care products is gradually reduced, so that the demand of young consumer groups gradually increases. This paper used a deep learning algorithm based on the combination of a smart phone and facial skin detection to develop a facial skin image classification system using Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) deep learning algorithm. In this system, it can recognize three classes facial skin problem, good facial skin quality, bad facial skin quality and face makeup, which helps people quickly understand their facial skin problem. We proposed two different CNN architectures. One has two convolutional layers, two pooling layers and three fully connected layer and the other has three convolution layers, three pooling layers, and four fully connected layer. Finally, we compare the result of our proposed architecture with LeNet-5. From the experimental result, we understand that the architecture which has three convolution layers, three pooling layers, and four fully connected layer, has the highest recognition rate, and we use it as a baseline to build a framework for detecting facial skin problems.

The Steward Alerts for Science System (SASSy) supports transient science by ingesting alerts from various sources. Cross-referencing using Q3C spatial indexing is enabled on most database tables allowing astronomers to explore the data in a variety of ways. SassyCron, a layered application, is a specific targeted search to find promising early supernovae candidates and request spectra from telescopes available to Steward Observatory science staff.

Low-cost electronic devices have become popular in the research, educational and industrial sectors. This has permitted to avoid the acquisition of expensive specialized equipment. In electronics communications, low-cost devices can be seen in the Software Defined Radio (SDR). This technology permits having a communications system in a single device to work over different frequencies. Commercial examples are HackRf One and LimeSDR, they can be configured using GNU radio. However, this software does not allow the proper understanding of communication processes. Seeking to improve the understanding of communications, this work presents a software development to transmit digital signals considering an SDR. The proposal generates baseband signals, digital modulation schemes such as QPSK, ASK, FSK, and constellation maps. Also, it is possible to appreciate the Power Spectral Density (PSD), modulation of signals in real-time and modify the parameters of the transmission. This contribution can be considered in teaching and research, among others.

The study of growth of woody species is a challenging issue, primarily due to the complexity of the involved processes, which span broad spatial and temporal scales. Very often, this latter aspect almost precludes complete experimentation, thereby hindering the comparison between theoretical predictions and real-world observations. Computer simulations offer an alternative approach, allowing for data collection based on theoretical assumptions, and has been applied to the analysis of different features in plant development, as the production of secondary vascular tissues, xylem and phloem, in woody plants. However, the simulation of bark development faces added difficulties, due to the scarcity of experimental observations to base the model on. In this article, we introduce a computer model designed to simulate bark formation based on mechanical stimuli acting on the various types of cells comprising this tissue. Our model can be conceptualized as a cellular automaton of variable size with non-local updating rules. By adjusting the parameters defining the model, we investigate the most influential factors in bark development, obtaining the most common bark types observed in trees. Furthermore, we provide an intuitive interface, making it suitable for educational purposes as well.

Tato práce je zaměřena na návrh možnosti hlášení bezpečnostních událostí z GPON sítí. Teoretická část představuje principy GPON a poskytuje úvod do problematiky bezpečnostních incidentů. Praktická část je zaměřena na výběr vhodných open-source systémů a návrh aplikace umožňující tvorbu hlášení. Výstupem práce je nasazení systémů TheHive, Cortex a MISP a vytvořená aplikace v jazyce python3 umožňující tvorbu různých typů hlášení na základě připravené šablony. Práce je zakončena podrobným popisem nasazení, vlastní konfigurace a otestováním.
