Predicting missing values in a home care database using an adaptive uncertainty rule method

Objectives. Contemporary literature illustrates an abundance of adaptive algorithms for mining association rules. However, most literature is unable to deal with the peculiarities, such as missing values and dynamic data creation, that are frequently encountered in fields like medicine. This paper proposes an uncertainty rule method that uses an adaptive threshold for filling missing values in newly added records. A new approach for mining uncertainty rules and filling missing values is proposed, which is in turn particularly suitable for dynamic databases, like the ones used in home care systems. Methods. in this study, a new data mining method named FiMV (Filling Missing Values) is illustrated based on the mined uncertainty rules. Uncertainty rules have quite a similar structure to association rules and are extracted by an algorithm proposed in previous work, namely AURG (Adaptive Uncertainty Rule Generation). The main target was to implement an appropriate method for recovering missing values in a dynamic database, where new records are continuously added, without needing to specify any kind of thresholds beforehand. Results: The method was applied to a home care monitoring system database. Randomly, multiple missing values for each record's attributes (rate 5-20% by 5% increments) were introduced in the initial dataset. FiMV demonstrated 100% completion rates with over 90% success in each case, while usual approaches, where all records with missing values are ignored or thresholds are required, experienced significantly reduced completion and success rates. Conclusions: It is concluded that the proposed method is appropriate for the data-cleaning step of the Knowledge Discovery process in databases. The latter, containing much significance for the output efficiency of any data mining technique, can improve the quality of the mined information.

In this correspondence, me develop a novel computation method for the 2-D discrete periodized wavelet transformation (DPWT). The new algorithm is based on the operator correlation algorithm (OCA). Compared with the classical 2-D pyramid algorithm, the new advanced operator correlation algorithm (AOCA) has two major advantages;it requires half the number of multiplications and can yield the same output SNR with half the precision of the DPWT filter coefficients. Furthermore, the modular structure of the AOCA makes it particularly suitable for a VLSI implementation.

algorithm for Trajectory Simplification Based on Multi-Point Construction in Preselected Area and Noise Smoothing Processing

Simplifying trajectory data can improve the efficiency of trajectory data analysis and query and reduce the communication cost and computational overhead of trajectory data. In this paper, a real-time trajectory simplification algorithm (SSFI) based on the spatio-temporal feature information of implicit trajectory points is proposed. The algorithm constructs the preselected area through the error measurement method based on the feature information of implicit trajectory points (IEDs) proposed in this paper, predicts the falling point of trajectory points, and realizes the one-way error-bounded simplified trajectory algorithm. Experiments show that the simplified algorithm has obvious progress in three aspects: running speed, compression accuracy, and simplification rate. When the trajectory data scale is large, the performance of the algorithm is much better than that of other line segment simplification algorithms. The GPS error cannot be avoided. The Kalman filter smoothing trajectory can effectively eliminate the influence of noise and significantly improve the performance of the simplified algorithm. According to the characteristics of the trajectory data, this paper accurately constructs a mathematical model to describe the motion state of objects, so that the performance of the Kalman filter is better than other filters when smoothing trajectory data. In this paper, the trajectory data smoothing experiment is carried out by adding random Gaussian noise to the trajectory data. The experiment shows that the Kalman filter's performance under the mathematical model is better than other filters.

Automation of experiments at Dubna Gas-Filled Recoil Separator

Approaches to solving the problems of automation of basic processes in long-term experiments in heavy ion beams of the Dubna Gas-Filled Recoil Separator (DGFRS) facility are considered. Approaches in the field of spectrometry, both of rare alpha decays of superheavy nuclei and those for constructing monitoring systems to provide accident-free experiment running with highly radioactive targets and recording basic parameters of experiment, are described. The specific features of Double Side Silicon Strip Detectors (DSSSDs) are considered, special attention is paid to the role of boundary effects of neighboring p-n transitions in the "active correlations" method. An example of an off-beam experiment attempting to observe Zeno effect is briefly considered. Basic examples for nuclear reactions of complete fusion at Ca-48 ion beams of U-400 cyclotron (LNR, JINR) are given. A scenario of development of the "active correlations" method for the case of very high intensity beams of heavy ions at promising accelerators of LNR, JINR, is presented.

P wave and far-field R wave detection in pacemaker patient atrial electrograms

This study was undertaken to develop and test a morphology-based adaptive algorithm for real-time detection of P waves and far-field R waves (FFRWs) in pacemaker patient atrial electrograms, Cardiac event discrimination in right atrial electrograms has been a problem resulting in improper atrial sensing in implantable devices;potentially requiring clinical evaluation and device reprogramming. A morphology-based adaptive algorithm was first evaluated with electrograms recorded from 25 dual chamber pacemaker implant patients. A digital signal processing (DSP) system was designed to implement the algorithm and test real-time detection. In the second phase, the DSP implementation was evaluated in 13 patients. Atrial and ventricular electrograms were processed in real-time following algorithm training performed in the first few seconds for each patient. Electrograms were later manually annotated for comparative analysis. The sensitivity for FFRW detection in the atrial electrogram during off-line analysis was 92.5% (+/- 10.9)and the positive predictive value was 99.1% (+/-1.8). real-time P wave detection using a DSP system had a sensitivity of 98.9% (+/- 1.3) and a positive predictivity of 97.3% (+/- 3.5). FFRW detection had a sensitivity of 91.0% (+/- 12.4) and a positive predictivity of 97.1% (+/-4.2) in atrial electrograms. DSP algorithm tested can accurately detect both P waves and FFRWs in right atrium real-time. Advanced signal processing techniques can be applied to arrhythmia detection and may eventually improve detection, reduce clinician interventions, and improve unipolar and bipolar lead sensing.

High dynamic range (HDR) imaging generation from a set of low dynamic range images taken in different exposure times is a low cost and an easy technique. This technique provides a good result for static scenes. Temporal exposure bracketing cannot be applied directly for dynamic scenes, since camera or object motion in bracketed exposures creates ghosts in the resulting HDR image. In this paper we describe a real-time ghost removing hardware implementation on high dynamic range video flow added for our HDR FPGA based smart camera which is able to provide full resolution (1280 x 1024) HDR video stream at 60 fps. We present experimental results to show the efficiency of our implemented method in ghost removing.

With reaching extremely high intensities of heavy-ion beams, new requirements for the detection system of the Dubna Gas-Filled Recoil Separator (DGFRS) will definitely be set. One of the challenges is how to apply the "active correlations" method [1-6] to suppress beam associated background products without significant losses in the whole long-term experiment efficiency value. Different scenarios and equations for the development of a method according to this requirement are under consideration in the present paper.

Installation of a Photovoltaic (PV) system needs an accurate design and evaluation test for the performance of its modules before using them in a system. This can be fulfilled with high accuracy in the laboratory without using commercial PV modules by using a PV emulator. The PV emulator introduces a suitable tool which easily permits emulating PV system component with different parameters, teaching its characteristic and training researchers in this field. The main purpose of this paper is introducing the development of a Photovoltaics (PV) emulator has the capability of emulate commercial PV modules with different parameters and under different environmental condition (irradiance or temperature change), constructing a PV array based on the series and parallel numbers of modules. The PV emulator was implemented using a real-time algorithm representing the PV array mathematical model and generating the reference output power from a programmable DC power supply. The PV model is simulated in MATLAB and interfaced to the real world through dSPACE using an evolutionary graphic user interface (GUI). This laboratory PV emulator is tested with real-time execution of PV model for the steady state and dynamic operating conditions.

In this paper, a new on-line channel estimation and tracking method for wireless OFDM systems based on comb-type pilots is developed. Long training sequences are used to estimate the channel response in frequency domain, and a scalar Kalman filtering scheme is designed to refine the channel estimation. To track the channel variations during a long burst packet, estimated pilots via a vector Kalman filtering are used to linearly interpolate and modify the estimated channel response. Both channel AWGN and state variable noise variance are adaptively estimated. Furthermore, to overcome the phase changes across the symbols owing to frequency offset estimation error, pilot based phase compensation scheme is incorporated. The complete algorithm can be processed in real time with much better performance than training sequence based or pilots based channel estimation methods. Simulation results based on 802.11a wireless LAN standard are presented.

The paper deals with the issues of computer simulation of virtual space long an arbitrary trajectory. In this case, the shooting can be carried out in the conditions of interference, and the video data itself may have noise, blur and defocus. The simulated medium is represented as a cloud of points of different density. To improve the efficiency of perception, point clouds are represented in the form of heat maps. Particular consideration is given to modeling in the context of incomplete data and the task of preserving meaningful information. The mathematical model is built on algorithms for estimating the density of distribution of points, non-parametric and parametric restoration of the distribution density. The results of testing: the analysis and visualization of the density of distribution, the result of the analysis of the density of the cloud of points obtained, based on the video sequence.
