Hydrate is a common issue in the natural gas production, which can be accelerated by the presence of H₂S and CO₂. This paper is to present the current experience in a gas project in Sichuan, including application of several surveillance technologies for the benefit of hydrate prevention and management, to support production optimization. This sour gas project has high H₂S and CO₂ content. With the high deliverability at the wells, the project has used a two-choke configuration in the surface system to manage the surface pressure to feed the gas into the production process. Given a design of the two-choke system, the sour gas is choked, heated, and then choked again, and finally flows to the tri-ethylene glycol (TEG) dehydration unit. Hydrate formation risk normally exists downstream of the first choke and the second choke if the heater is not efficient, and at the filtration process upstream of the dehydration. Hydrate prevention had been considered during the design phase of the surface production facilities. Methyl-ethylene glycol (MEG) is therefore selected and injected to the upstream of the first choke to mix with the gas flow stream. real-time data surveillance (i.e., pressure and temperature) with digital gauges are installed in the areas with high probability of hydrate formation. The most important next step is the real-time data (i.e., gas rate, water rate, pressure, temperature, and MEG injection rate), which are updated, and the hydrate formation curves are plotted to display on the central control computer. Based on the relative position of the pressure and temperature, the integrated digital control system can be used to optimize production by controlling gas rate, heater temperature, and MEG injection. In brief, with this visualized monitoring system in place, hydrate prevention has been visually and effectively managed and MEG consumption has been optimized to minimize the operational cost. © Springer Natur

In the modern digital generation, clickstream data analytics is a crucial component of online selling and purchasing platforms. It offers useful information for enhancing user experience, conversion rates, website design, and keeping track of the success of digital marketing efforts. A data warehouse is required to store and analyze clickstream data, which requires a lengthy and complex ETL process. Two of the leading large data processing tools and distributed streaming systems are Spark and Kafka. This paper presents a comprehensive examination of recent research pertaining to clickstream data analytics, real-time data visualization, data lifecycle management utilizing Apache technologies. Based on the review, the paper proposes an architecture that can aid organizations and local merchants in effectively visualizing the performance of their products. This paper provides a valuable resource for researchers and practitioners seeking to explore the latest developments in their future work. © 2023 IEEE.

Clinical data is growing every day. Ergo, to treat, store and publish such data is an emergent task. Furthermore, analysing data in real-time using streaming and processing technologies and methods, in order to obtain quality data, prepared to support decision making is of extreme value. Big data emerged with the introduction of real-time processing, thus revolutionizing traditional technologies and techniques through the ability to deal with the volume, speed and variety of data. Countless studies have been proposed in the healthcare domain in search of solutions that allow the flow of data in real-time. However, the work presented hereby is distinguished by allowing the collection, processing, storage and analysis of Intensive Care Units (ICU) data, both collected in real-time from bedside monitors but also stored in a historical repository. The architecture proposed makes use of current technologies, like Nextgen Connector as message supplier and integrator, Elasticsearch as a search index, Kibana for viewing stored data and Grafana for real-time streaming. This article is part of the ICDS4IM project - Intelligent Clinical Decision Support in Intensive Care Medicine to support the experimentation of data processing techniques and technologies, based in HL7 format and collected in real-time so that it can be made available through Health Information Systems across the healthcare institutions. The Earth's geological diversity exposes regions to various natural hazards, including earthquakes, landslides, and volcanic eruptions, with soil displacement posing significant risks to infrastructure stability and agricultural productivity. Previous landslide monitoring systems encountered challenges such as data transmission stability and the vulnerability of power supply systems. In response, a soil displacement monitoring system is proposed, integrating extensometer sensors with advanced fiber optic communication technology and a laser-based power system. Extensometer sensors, known for their precise soil displacement measurements, face difficulties in long-distance data transmission, addressed by fiber optic communication offering higher bandwidth and extended transmission distances. The laser-based power system enhances system reliability and efficiency through fiber optics, ensuring uninterrupted operation even in remote locations. System accessibility is further facilitated with a Python-based graphical user interface (GUI) for real-time data visualization. The system's performance is validated through comprehensive soil displacement simulations, supported by continuous monitoring using a rain simulator to observe potential displacements. This integrated approach, leveraging a robust laser-based power system and advanced communication technology, aims to enhance disaster management strategies in geologically active regions.

The IoT-based weather monitoring system using NodeMCU ESP8266 represents a pioneering approach to weather data acquisition, analysis, and dissemination. Confronting the limitations of conventional weather monitoring systems such as high costs and restricted real-time data accessibility, this project leverages NodeMCU ESP8266 technology to offer an economical and efficient solution. The system integrates a network of sensors to capture crucial weather parameters like temperature, humidity, and light intensity. Through the NodeMCU ESP8266 micro-controller and Wi-Fi module, the collected data is processed and transmitted to a central server. A user-friendly interface empowers users to access real-time weather conditions, and forecasts, all presented through intuitive graphical representations. This report comprehensively details the system's architecture, hardware, software components, implementation steps, results, challenges, and future possibilities. By combining IoT and NodeMCU ESP8266, this system unlocks fresh possibilities for data-informed decision-making in various fields.

Wireless strain-field monitoring system for motion recognition via direct-ink-writing sensor-array

Large-area strain-monitoring is highly desired in various engineering applications. Despite the fact that the commercial strain gauges have been successfully used for strain measurement, there is still big challenge for this manually-pasting based solution especially for large-area monitoring. First, the wires of multiple commercial strain gauges for large-area monitoring will exhibit remarkably abundant and complex, and eventually reduce the reliability and convenience of the measurement system. Second, the commercial terminal instrument is usually function-redundant with complicated electronic configuration to match the low-sensitive metal-foil strain gauge. Meanwhile, the wire-based signal acquisition and processing system substantially limit the compatibility for moving objects. Here we take the advantages of direct-ink-writing (DIW) 3D printed sensor array, thereby propose a wireless-based solution for large-area strain field measurement, data transmission and processing. The sensitivity of the printed sensing unit is one order of magnitude higher than that of traditional strain gauges, while the sensor array layout is optimized for compatibility to the strain orientation and detecting domain. A high-frequency signal acquisitor is designed and assembled with a wireless transmitter for rapid multi-point strain detection and real-time data transmission. A remote data receiver and processing terminal are developed and integrated for twin-visualization of the detected strain field. In particular, the detected strain data are processed to construct a cascaded support-vector-machine (SVM) classifier, that successfully identify motion states of moving vehicles in high precision. This study provides insight into exploring the advantages of DIW printed sensor arrays combined with specifically-designed wireless system and strain-based dynamic recognition.

Digital occupancy assessment for lighting evaluation: a pilot study to prepare for real-time research results

The relationship between lighting and human well-being is pivotal in architecture and environmental design. Adequate lighting enhances visual appeal and significantly influences occupant comfort, productivity, and satisfaction. This pilot study aimed to integrate digital occupancy assessment methods to understand indoor lighting conditions' impact on occupant well-being. Hypotheses explored the potential link between lighting conditions and occupant well-being, as assessed through physiological indicators and the influence of interior attributes on occupants' perceptions and physiological responses. The identified main components were satisfaction with artificial and daylighting, ambiance, and stimulation. The study explored the relationship between lighting conditions, physiological responses, and subjective assessments, revealing potential influences on occupant perceptions. A real-time data visualization could be valuable for data-intensive projects, enhancing comprehension and decision-making for facility management. While limited by the small sample size, trends, and moderate correlations were observed, indicating the need for larger, more diverse samples in future research.

In this particular paper, we are going to portray a robotic device that is mainly intended to be used in the field of Industrial Supervision and Maintenance. This device is in the form of a four-wheeler vehicle which can cover a certain area of floor of the industry depending on the range of WLAN connectivity from the main router. Multiple number of sensors are installed on the device and all of them are connected to the main microcontroller. Depending on the values received from the respective sensors, the microcontroller will update the data on a Cloud-based Web Server and in case of any emergency situation, from there the concerned departments will be notified via mail. The device is also equipped with a camera which will click photos, record short videos and also stream live video sessions depending on the situation and the verbal commands received from the respective user. The device's movements can be remotely controlled using Google Assistant Services. Using Voice Commands, the User can instruct the robot to follow Auto-Pilot Mode where the device will drive itself using the 'Obstacle Avoiding Algorithm' or else the robot can also follow the Hand-Gestures of the user and reach a specific location and provide necessary information about any adverse situation detected by the pre-installed sensors. In normal situation, the device will loiter all around the floor of the industry using 'Auto-Pilot Mode'. All sorts of communication between the User and the Device will be done using the Internet of Things Platform therefore the authority can monitor a certain situation closely from any part of the world.

Vertical profiles of temperature, pressure, relative humidity, wind speed, and wind direction in the atmosphere are typically collected using radiosondes attached to free-flying or tethered balloons. This method is inefficient when data are only required for the first hundred feet above the ground. Free-flying balloons and the attached payload drift away from the launching location and are often not recovered. Tethered balloons require large amounts of helium and become unstable with increased winds, and inflating balloons takes an extended period of time and requires a skilled team. The scope of this project is to eliminate the impracticalities of balloon-based measurement systems by creating a recoverable, versatile, user-friendly unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). The project requires development of a flight-control system, a data-collection system, and a communications and user interface. The development of the flight-control system involved researching autonomous flight controllers, followed by the construction, prototyping, and tuning of a hexacopter. Creating the data collection system required researching environmental sensors and determining the effects of the copter motion on sensor performance. The designed communications interface incorporated real-time data flow and local storage on the copter. The final product will be an autonomously flying hexacopter which can collect accurate weather-related data within the lowest 1000 feet of the atmosphere.
