Identifying Reliability-Critical Primary Inputs of Combinational Circuits Based on the Model of Gate-Sensitive Attributes

The identification of reliability-critical primary input leads (RCPIs) plays an important role in the testing and prediction of reliability boundaries of logic circuits. This article presents a gate-sensitive-attributes-based approach to estimate the criticality of the primary input leads in combinational circuits to their reliability. Oriented to the input vector, a subcircuit-based traversal method marks the critical input leads of each gate in a circuit. Gate-sensitive attributes and a reverse recursive algorithm quantify the effect of each RCPI on circuit reliability under the input vector. A parallel calculation method based on subcircuits with only one primary output reduces the computational complexity to accelerate the calculation process. Similarity-based clustering avoids unnecessary calculations, and a self-adaptive strategy is used to check convergence. Experimental results on benchmark circuits show that the average accuracy of this approach is 0.9634 with Monte Carlo (MC) as the reference and it is 3445 times faster than the MC on average while its average memory cost is 1.67 greater than the MC model. Although the fitness of the worst input vector obtained by other reference methods is 1.09 times better than that of this approach on average, this approach is approximately 21 times faster than that reference method on average.

Fast algorithms for solving Toeplitz and bordered Toeplitz matrix equations arising in electromagnetic theory

In many electromagnetic field problems, matrix equations were always deduced from using the method of moment. Among these matrix equations, some of them might require a large amount of computer memory storage which made them unrealistic to be solved on a personal computer. Virtually, these matrices might be too large to be solved efficiently. A fast algorithm based on a Toeplitz matrix solution was developed for solving a bordered Toeplitz matrix equation arising in electromagnetic problems applications. The developed matrix solution method can be applied to solve some electromagnetic problems having very large-scale matrices. which are deduced from the moment method procedure. In this paper, a study of a computationally efficient order-recursive algorithm for solving the linear electromagnetic problems [Z](I) under bar = (V) under bar where [Z] is a Toeplitz matrix, was presented. Upon the described Toeplitz matrix algorithm, this paper derives an efficient recursive algorithm for solving a bordered Toeplitz matrix with the matrix's major portion in the form of a Toeplitz matrix. This algorithm has remarkable advantages in reducing both the number of arithmetic operations and memory storage.

Synthesis and Optimization of Fractional-Order Elements Using a Genetic algorithm

This study proposes a new approach for the optimization of phase and magnitude responses of fractional-order capacitive and inductive elements based on the mixed integer-order genetic algorithm (GA), over a bandwidth of four-decade, and operating up to 1 GHz with a low phase error of approximately +/- 1 degrees. It provides a phase optimization in the desired bandwidth with minimal branch number and avoids the use of negative component values, and any complex mathematical analysis. Standardized, IEC 60063 compliant commercially available passive component values are used;hence, no correction on passive elements is required. To the best knowledge of the authors, this approach is proposed for the first time in the literature. As validation, we present numerical simulations using MATLAB (R) and experimental measurement results, in particular, the Foster-II and Valsa structures with five branches for precise and/or high-frequency applications. Indeed, the results demonstrate excellent performance and significant improvements over the Oustaloup approximation, the Valsa recursive algorithm, and the continued fraction expansion and the adaptability of the GA-based design with five different types of distributed RC/RL network.

Stationary wavelet transform aided design of parity space vectors for fault detection in LDTV systems

This study deals with the problem of fault detection (FD) for linear discrete time-varying (LDTV) systems by combining the parity space-based method with the stationary wavelet transform (SWT). For the purpose of achieving good FD performance and simultaneously reducing the online computational burden resulted by high parity space order, SWT on residual signal is the first step in this study. This allows the formulation of residual generation as the selection of wavelet basis for SWT and the design of time-varying parity space vectors in a framework of multiscale optimisation. A recursive algorithm is developed for the computation of optimal parity space vectors and, based on this, a bank of residual signals can be obtained. Moreover, a weighted multiscale residual evaluation strategy is presented to detect the occurrence of a fault. The major contribution of the study lies in the development of a recursive design of SWT aided parity space vectors, which delivers an improvement of FD performance for a lower parity space order and an easy online implementation. A numerical example is demonstrated to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

In this paper, a new approach to the harmonic estimation based on the linear transformation named Taylor-Fourier transform has been proposed. A multiple-resonator-based observer structure has been used. The output taps of the multiple resonators may fix not only the complex harmonic values but also, according to the actual resonator multiplicity, their first, second, third, fourth, and so on, derivatives at the corresponding frequency. The algorithm is recursive, which allows its implementation in embedded environment with limited memory. The estimation technique is suitable for application in a wide range of frequency changes, transient conditions, and interharmonics presence, with benefits in a reduced complexity and computational effort. To demonstrate the performance of the developed algorithm, computer simulated data records are processed.

Model identification of a noncausal 2-D AR process using a causal 2-D AR model on the nonsymmetric half-plane

If a noncausal two-dimensional (2-D) autoregressive (AR) process is bi-causal, there exists a causal 2-D AR process on the nonsymmetric half-plane having the same autocorrelations as the noncausal 2-D AR process. A formula is presented to relate the AR coefficients of the noncausal 2-D AR process with those of the causal 2-D AR process on the nonsymmetric half plane. The 2-D Yule-Walker equations are derived for causal 2-D AR models on the nonsymmetric half plane. A computationally efficient order-recursive algorithm is proposed to solve the 2-D Yule-Walker equations. Using the autocorrelation equivalence relation and the order-recursive algorithm;we can easily identify a noncausal 2-D AR process from its autocorrelations.

In this work, dynamic routing of point-to-point connections in a waveband selective linear lightwave network is addressed, Linear lightwave networks are all optical networks in which only linear operations are performed on signals in a waveband selective manner, Special constraints arise because of the linearity in the linear lightwave network, The overall problem of finding a path satisfying all the routing constraints for point-to-point connections is shown to be very complex, Owing to the complexity, the overall routing problem is decomposed into several subproblems. In particular, given a request for a point-to-point connection a waveband is first chosen for the call, Two heuristics, MAXBAND which allocates the most used band to a call acid another MINBAND (least used band) were studied, Then, the problem of routing in a given waveband was further divided into smaller subproblems of finding a path in the waveband, checking for feasibility of the path in the chosen waveband and channel allocation (within the waveband), For finding paths in a waveband, K-SP, BLOW-UP and MIN-INT algorithms were proposed, A recursive algorithm checks for feasibility of the path on the waveband, Two channel allocation schemes (within a single waveband) MIN and MAX were presented, Simulations showed;that using MAXBAND (waveband), MIN-INT (path on waveband) and MIN (channel within waveband) policies resulted in the best performance (least blocking).

This paper develops a parameter-adaptive version of the steady-state linear quadratic Gaussian controller for plants with structured parameter dependencies. Both scalar and vector parameter perturbations are treated. The design method, referred to as gain-sensitivity augmentation, is based on approximating the optimal parameterdependent regulator and filter gain matrices with truncated Taylor series expansions. The coefficient matrices of the Taylor series expansions are referred to as gain-sensitivity matrices and are precomputed off-line. Parameter information, assumed to be available on-line by direct measurement or estimation, is used to adjust the gain matrices to near-optimal values. © 1990 American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Inc., All rights reserved.

An efficient algorithm for the 2-D discrete cosine transform

In this paper, we present an efficient algorithm for computing the 2-D discrete cosine transform (DCT). First, we arrange the input data matrix in a certain order. Second, we formulate the output data matrix to a block-structured matrix-vector multiplication, and show that the block-structured matrix has the same properties as the 1-D DCT kernel matrix. Therefore, the 2-D DCT problem is reduced to the 1-D DCT problem. We thus can provide a procedure for computing the 2-D DCT which is similar to that of the 1-D DCT. The primary appeal of this algorithm lies not only in its low computational cost but also in its regular structure as the transform size increases.
