In this paper, we present a new algorithm of sliding window identification with linear-equality constraints. This algorithm consists in firstly deleting the oldest set of data and in secondly adding the last set of data. The method developed in this paper allows to consider at every step a set of new data by an extension of their result. The proposed algorithm is based on the recursive calculus of the pseudo-inverse matrix from the forms of Albert and Sittler. A simple and easily implementable initialization of the constrained algorithm is proposed. An improvement is obtained by removing the influence of oldest set of data and by satisfying the linear-equality constraints. It is shown that the solutions of the sliding window identification algorithm converge to the true parameter that satisfies the equality constraints. Numerical example is provided to show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Photo Diode Array (PDA) is the key semiconductor component expected to produce specified output voltage in photo couplers and photo sensors when the light is on. PDA partitioning problem, which is to design PDA, is: Given die area, anode and cathode points, divide the area into N cells, with identical areas, connected in series from anode to cathode. In this paper, we first make restrictions for the problem and reveal the underlying properties of necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of solutions when the restrictions are satisfied. Then, we propose a method to solve the problem using recursive algorithm, which can be guaranteed to obtain a solution in polynomial time.

This paper addresses the issue of writing image processing algorithms and programs that are independent of the dimension of the dataset. Such an approach aims at writing libraries and tool-boxes that will be smaller (because one routine works on all dimensions) as well as easier to debug (the more the routine is used, the easier it is debugged). The data to be processed is stored in a multi-dimensional, self-documented format describing, not only the content of the image, but also its context and the conditions of its acquisition. The work presented in this paper is based on the image kernel of the MIMOSA standard. We propose a recursive programming scheme that allows one to write general algorithms for such multi-dimensional images. Oddly enough, the design of such algorithms is easy and intuitive, thanks to the recursion. Moreover, the computational cost;remains comparable to the one of dimension-specific algorithms. The cost of the recursion is indeed negligible compared to the cost of non trivial processings. We present an implementation of a reduced version of the MIMOSA image kernel, show how elementary processing such as convolution and filtering can be easily implemented. Finally we propose an algorithm for the no Fast Fourier Transform operating on real data.

The effective use of the cache memories of the processors is a key component of obtaining high performance algorithms and codes, including here algorithms and codes for parallel computers with shared and distributed memories. The recursive algorithms seem to be a tool for such an action. Unfortunately, worldwide used programming language FORTRAN 77 does not allow explicit recursion. The paper presents a recursive version of LU factorization algorithm for general matrices using FORTRAN 90. FORTRAN 90 allows writing recursive procedures and the recursion is automatic as it is a duty of the compiler. Usually, recursion speeds up the algorithms. The recursive versions reported in the paper are some modification of the LAPACK algorithms and they transform some basic linear algebra operations from BLAS level 2 to BLAS level 3.

With tougher restrictions on emissions the automotive industry is in dire need of additional functionality to reduce emissions. We conduct a case study trying to predict long-lasting brake events, to support the decision-making process when the engine can beneficially be put to idle or shut down to achieve emission reduction. We introduce Compressed Mixture Models, a multivariate and mixed variate kernel density model featuring online training and complexity reduction, and use it for prediction purposes. The results show that the proposed method produces comparable prediction results as a Random Forest Classifier and outperform a Support Vector Classifier. On an urban road a prediction accuracy of 87.4 % is obtained, while a prediction accuracy of 76.4 % on a highway segment using the proposed method. Furthermore, it is possible to use a trained Compressed Mixture Model as a tool for statistical inference to study the properties of the observed realization of the underlying random variables. An adaptive recursive algorithm based on a simple two sensor system for accurate estimation of the incident angle of a radar reflecting object or alternatively an active emitter is proposed. The overall objective is to find a low complexity method, which provides high resolution estimates and which is capable of adapting to a time varying scenario. Time delay estimation is followed by calculation of the actual incident angle. The considered simple system, comprised of two sensors only, is less complex and requires less computational power than does an array based receiver with possibly several antenna elements. An adaptive Lagrange interpolator is incorporated in order to obtain time delay estimates with a high resolution, in fractions of a sample. The possible performance of the proposed scheme is compared to time-varying lower CRB's, which are also derived here.

GPU-accelerated computing consists in using a graphics processing unit (GPU) together with a CPU in order to enhance the performance of scientific and engineering applications. With the increasing spread of GPUs as hardware accelerators for scientific applications, several optimized linear algebra libraries have emerged to make use of this additional computing power. In this paper we present an implementation of a recursive algorithm for triangular matrix system solving targeting a hybrid multicore + GPU system.

An algorithm for the recursive identification of single-input single-output linear discrete-time time-invariant errors-in-variables system models in the case of white input and coloured output noise is presented. The approach is based on a bilinear parametrisation technique which allows the model parameters to be estimated together with the auto-correlation elements of the input/output noise sequences. In order to compensate for the bias in the recursively obtained least squares estimates, the extended bias compensated least squares method is used. An alternative for the online update of the associated pseudo-inverse of the extended observation covariance matrix is investigated, namely an approach based on the matrix pseudo-inverse lemma and an approach based on the recursive extended instrumental variables technique. A Monte-Carlo simulation study demonstrates the appropriateness and the robustness against noise of the proposed scheme.

This manuscript deals with parametric and state estimation problem of discrete-time nonlinear polynomials systems. In this respect, the aim is to design a recursive State and Parametric Estimation (RSPE) algorithm, based on least square principle, polynomial adjustable models and Kalman filter theory. Our simulation results show the validity of the proposed algorithm.

Tire-road friction is the most important characteristic defining the planar dynamics of wheeled vehicles. It has consequences on the drivability, stability and tuning of the active vehicle dynamics control systems. This paper proposes two online friction estimation methods designed for the adaptation of vehicle dynamics control algorithms. The problem is framed as a classification problem where inertial measurements are used to discriminate between high and low friction regimes. The first method merges a recursive least-squares (RLS) algorithm with a heuristic bistable logic to classify the friction condition and promptly react to its changes. The second method runs a classification algorithm on the slip-acceleration characteristic. Both methods simultaneously account for the longitudinal and lateral dynamics and are tested on experimental data.
