Since the Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) technique makes it possible to construct an absolute secure cryptographic system by combing the One-time pad, QKD has drawn many attention these years. The insufficient implementation speed of the post-processing system of QKD is one of the greatest obstacle to wide application of QKD. The sifting module of QKD post-processing system needs to deal with the heaviest incoming load, it is of crucial importance to study how to design and implement an efficient sifting module to accelerate the QKD post-processing system. In this paper, an efficient FPGA based design scheme of the sifting module is presented. Our scheme can decrease the demands for storage resource and communication traffic obviously.

With the increasing number of GPS-enabled devices, the huge volume of spatiotemporal trajectory data brings about heavy burden for data storing, transmitting and processing. Compressing large scale trajectories is in urgent need. In this paper, we develop an algorithm for trajectory compression based on non-uniform quantization (TCNQ). It is aimed to achieve high compression ratio of large scale trajectory data when lacking geographic context. The method first converts spatiotemporal trajectories into strings by encoding differential coordinates with non-uniform quantization. Then run-length coding is performed to remove redundant points from the trajectories. In this way, quantization and trajectory simplification are combined in the encoding procedures to achieve high compression ratio without losing too much information. Experiments on real large scale trajectory datasets demonstrate that the proposed algorithm has superiority over traditional methods in compression ratio as well as deviation control.

In most of the video coding standards YCbCr color space is used as the input image format and most of the compression techniques are reducing redundancies in each Y, Cb, Cr component plane. In this paper we introduce new inter color prediction scheme that can further improve coding efficiency by exploiting the redundancy of chroma component within a sequence. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can lead up to 20% of average bit-rate reduction or equivalently 0.7dB quality improvement in chroma.

LSI testing is critical to guarantee chips are fault-free before they are integrated in a system, so as to increase the reliability of the system. Although full-scan is a widely adopted design-for-testability technique for LSI design and testing, there is a strong need to reduce the test data Volume, scan-in Power dissipation, and test application Time (VPT) of full-scan testing. Based on the analysis of the characteristics of the variable-to-fixed run-length coding technique and the random access scan architecture, this paper presents a novel design scheme to tackle all VPT issues simultaneously. Experimental results on ISCAS'89 benchmarks have shown on average 51.2%, 99.5%, 99.3%, and 85.5% reduction effects in test data volume, average scan-in power dissipation, peak scan-in power dissipation, and test application time, respectively.

The massive number of medical images produced by fluoroscopic and other conventional diagnostic imaging devices demand a considerable amount of space for data storage. This paper proposes an effective method for lossless compression of fluoroscopic images. The main contribution in this paper is the extraction of the regions of interest (ROI) in fluoroscopic images using appropriate shapes. The extracted ROI is then effectively compressed using customized correlation and the combination of run length and Huffman coding, to increase compression ratio. The experimental results achieved show that the proposed method is able to improve the compression ratio by 400 % as compared to that of traditional methods.

The performance of auto control system becomes higher in nuclear power plant (NPP), and the requirement of operation support system changes more advanced. So the inspecting parameters will become more and more, the sampling frequency will change higher and higher, the transmitting data will be produced more and more, the saving space will be demanded bigger and bigger. As auto control system in NPP is a real time system, the saving time of running-data without compression will be increased, and the transmitting data will be walled up or produce error extremely. In this study, we research the statistic character of the running-data by using the experiment data, and then compare the performance between common lossless compression coding methods. The results produced by using experimental data can show that: the lossless compression method basing on statistic characters is not fit for running data in NPP. run-length coding and differential coding method has the best performance for less changing data. This conclusion can be applied for lossless compression in control system of NPP.

The transmission and storage of electric vehicle battery management system (BMS) data are time consuming and infeasible, which reduces the efficiency of data transmission and storage. For this problem, this paper presents a method of battery data compression, the pre-compression is to reduce the amount of data and improve the data redundancy and repeatability, and a strategy was formulated that two universal compression methods, Huffman coding and run-length coding, were applied to different battery data. Experimental results show the method of battery data compression can obtain a good compressibility. The battery data compressibility of this paper was about 21%.

Mammograms are frequent detection means in breast *** the limited bandwidth impedes the communication transmission of mammograms in *** this paper,we investigated on the compression method of four mammograms in DICOM format in narrow band transmission ***,according to the similarity of mammograms at the same view,the difference of two images can be obtained by making subtraction between the two images after reversal and reference ***,an improved Sobel method was proposed to achieve the edge detection of mammograms and also to extract the region of interest(ROI).Finally,using the run-length coding which is one of the entropy coding to process the lossless compression coding for the ROI of the difference *** this paper,the compression method proposed is proved on the actual mammograms,and the better compression ratio was obtained at mammograms of CC views and MLO views.

Fast detection of texture defects based on vectorization method

To meet the command of real-time performance in industrial field, a method has been researched for fast detecting texture defects in X-ray tyre image. Based on the principle of X-ray imaging, the gray level at the center of texton is the least in local area. A difference method was adopted to find local extreme points. The skeleton of texture was acquired through searching and recognizing these points. The run-length coding method was adopted to vectorize the texture skeleton. In texture vector graph, the character description model was founded, and through this model, texture defects were detected and recognized. The experiment results showed that structure defects in tyre texture were fast detected and recognized, and the detection time was reduced 70%.
