This letter proposes an improved shooting and bouncing ray (SBR) method to efficiently predict the radar cross (RCS) of electrically large targets. First, the scan line algorithm is used to convert three-dimensional (3-D) processing to the 2-D graphic display, which expedites the elimination of shadows. Then, the ray tracing process is accelerated by the ray-marching technique which greatly decreases the intersection test. The validity of the proposed method is verified by comparing the simulation results with those of the multilevel fast multipole method. The runtime performance contrast of the traditional Octree-SBR method and ours indicates that the accelerated algorithm is more computationally efficient. Therefore, the presented algorithm has an excellent performance in the RCS prediction of electrically large targets.

With highway bridge construction developing rapidly, bridge safety is crucial. Crack detection efficiency directly affects bridge safety and service life. Therefore, digital image processing for crack detection technology is important. Existing crack detection algorithms only detect single, regular cracks but not multiple cracks in complex, extended directions. This paper proposes detecting cracks in images by adopting OTSU automatic threshold, guided filtering, and gamma image enhancement, then using Zhang Suen skeleton extraction algorithm to extract crack skeletons. Hough line detection is conducted to detect different trends of multiple cracks, and scanning linealgorithms is used to calculate normal crack width with engineering significance. The result of the research shows that the algorithm detects cracks efficiently, and the thinning algorithm based on skeleton extraction extracts crack trends accurately. The scan line algorithm has practical significance for width measurement of irregular cracks. Therefore, this algorithm has strong application value in bridge crack detection.

The management of resources in reconfigurable systems is one of the most critical factors concerned deeply with the performance of dynamic reconfigurable systems. There are several algorithms for managing the empty space of reconfigurable systems, among which the basic scan line algorithm (SLA)[1] is a relative efficient one. However SLA suffers from two problems: redundancy and duplication. To solve duplication, the improved scan line algorithm (ISLA) is proposed in [1]. However the redundancy problem is remained. Therefore, we are motivated to over come this problem and propose an enhanced algorithm called ESLA based on SLA. ESLA solves problems of both redundancy and duplication. Further, Simulation experiments show that the performance of ESLA is better than ISLA.
