For a fully digital control of PWM converters, considerable research has been done based on the predictive current control (PCC) scheme. However, it requires a large amount of calculation in the step of experimental implementation. Besides, when compared with the classical linear control scheme, the sampling interval of the PCC scheme must be shorter to obtain the same control performance for current. Due to this, a digital signal processor with excellent performance is required. This paper proposes an improved simplified model PCC scheme for three-phase PWM converters. The main objective is to simplify the PCC scheme. Also, the proposed control scheme is able to reduce the calculation time without affecting the performance. Simulations and experiments are carried out to investigate the presented novel predictive current control scheme. The results indicate that the three-phase PWM converter has excellent static and dynamic performance with the proposed scheme. Besides, the calculation time can be obviously shortened.

Finite-control-set model-predictive control (FCS-MPC) requires a large amount of calculation, which is an obstacle for its application. However, compared with the classical linear control algorithm, FCS-MPC requires a shorter control loop cycle time to reach the same control performance. To resolve this contradiction, this paper presents an effective method to simplify the conventional FCS-MPC. With equivalent transformation and specialized sector distribution method, the computation load of FCS-MPC is greatly reduced while the control performance is not affected. The proposed method can be used in various circuit topologies and cases with multiple constraints. Experiments on two-level converter and three-level NPC converter verify the good performance and application value of the proposed method.

Amplitude phase shift keying (APSK) constellation with Gray mapping was proposed recently. Inspired by the simplified soft demapping for regular Gray-QAM, a simplified soft demapping algorithm for Gray-APSK is proposed in this paper. Compared with conventional soft demapping schemes, its complexity is greatly reduced with only a little SNR loss, which is validated by the complexity analysis and FPGA compilation results.

A novel shadow removal approach is proposed by using block-wise transform domain shadow detection. The approach is based on the fact that the spatial frequency distributions on normal background areas and those under casted shadows from foreground objects are the same. The proposed approach is especially useful for silhouette extraction by using the Gaussian Mixture background Model (GMM) foreground segmentation in the transform domain, because the frequency distribution has already been calculated in the foreground segmentation. It is very complex that the infrared radiation's actual transmission process through earth's atmosphere. There is interaction between radiation and atmospheric component. The radiation transmittance will be weakened because of the absorption and the scattering. The atmospheric transmittance is an important parameter to measure the attenuation. This paper summarizes the infrared radiation's transmission process in atmosphere, studies the computation method of atmospheric transmittance, analyzes the absorption attenuation of the atmospheric gas such as steam and carbon dioxide, the scattering attenuation and the attenuation caused by meteorological condition, infers the computation method of the atmospheric equivalent path, and gives the atmospheric transmittance simplified algorithm. Finally this paper gives the atmospheric transmittance computation result under given meteorological condition, also gives the contrast curve with LOWTRAN7.0. The algorithm has certain reference value in the project application.

The most effective way of determining the whole billet temperature field is to use a simulation model. Large amount of calculation as well as computational time is consumed to employ two-dimensional finite difference method since the heating process is extremely complex, then it's necessary to simplify the calculation process. In this paper, a simplified method in one-dimension format was presented to calculate two-dimensional heat conduction equations of heating slab. The billet simulated was placed in a changeable thermal flux boundary environment, in which the thermal flux was proportional to fourth power of temperature. During the heating process, the changeable parameters were taken into account: i. e different billet dimensions, different billet thermal conduction, different specific heat, etc. The comparision between results of two-dimensional finite difference method and the simplified method verified that the simplified method can satisfy accuracy requirement as well as calculation time saving, which enable the simplified method online using.

A simplified shadow removal approach by using interim results of transformed domain GMM foreground segmentation has been developed. The approach is based on the fact that the spatial frequency distribution does not change from the backgrounds in the shadow areas. Due to employing gray level picture processing and to utilizing only low frequency components in the transform domain, the resultant shadow removal approach drastically reduces the amount of processing, compared to conventional shadow removal approaches based on pixel based color component processing.

The problem of building an accurate model and the request of real-time control are often simultaneously encountered in the design of control systems. This paper studies and implements a real-time simplified variable domain fuzzy control method in PEM fuel cell flow systems. The method can achieve not only the fine control over cathode pressure of fuel cell stacks by adjusting the input and output domains, but also the real-time control by activating at most four control rules at a time in the inference process for dual-input controller. The experimental results with no load and under a given load demonstrate good performance of this method. The method might also be utilized in other similar processes.

This paper addresses the quantification and allocation of peaking costs of hydrothermal power systems under electricity market environment. Mixed-integer linear formations of market scheduling of hydrothermal power systems is described, with the maximum ramping up/down limits and minimum start/off time limits of thermal generators, as well as the generation quantity and hydraulic vibrations of hydropower generators considered. The peaking costs are quantified based on the market scheduling model, with the impacts of transmission flow limit and generating constraints of hydro units and thermal units on peaking costs considered. Cooperative game theory is applied to allocate peaking costs among loads, the superadditivity and convex game characteristics of the peaking costs allocation problem are analyzed;a simplified algorithm for calculating Shapley value is proposed to overcome the combinatorial explosion problems of non-simplified Shapley value or nucleolus. Simulation results show that, operation constraints have severe impacts on the peaking capability of generation units as well as the economical operation of hydro-thermal power systems, and the simplified algorithm for calculating Shapley value is very effective in terms of calculation burden and precision.
