Transparent speech quality has not been achieved at low bit rates, especially at w2.4 kbps and below, which is an area of interest for military and security applications. In this paper, strategies for low bit rate sinusoidal coding arc discussed. Previous work in the literature on using metaframes and performing variable bit allocation according to the metaframe type is extended. An optimum metaframe size compromise between delay and quantization gains is found. A new method for voicing determination from the LPC shape is also presented. The proposed techniques have been applied to the SB-LPC vocoder to produce speech at 1.2/0.8 kbps, and compared to the original SB-LPC vocoder at 2.4/1.2 kbps as well as an established standard (MELP) at 2.4/1.2/0.6 kbps in a listening test. It has been found that the proposed techniques have been effective in reducing the bit-rate while not compromising the speech quality.

sinusoidal coding plays an important role in low-rate audio coding. Typically, (time/frequency) differential techniques are employed to reduce the bit ride for representing the sinusoidal components. In this paper we derive optimal entropy-constrained differential (quantisers for quantising the sinusoid parameters. More specifically, the quantisers minimise a perceptually relevant distortion measure while the corresponding quantisation indices satisfy an entropy constraint. The quantisers turn Out to be flexible and of low complexity. Subjective evaluations with audio signals suggest a bit-rate reduction as high as 20% with the derived quantisers over state-of-the-art (logarithmic) quantisers.

A Multi-Image Encryption Based on sinusoidal coding Frequency Multiplexing and Deep Learning

Multi-image encryption technology is a vital branch of optical encryption technology. The traditional encryption method can only encrypt a small number of images, which greatly restricts its application in practice. In this paper, a new multi-image encryption method based on sinusoidal stripe coding frequency multiplexing and deep learning is proposed to realize the encryption of a greater number of images. In the process of encryption, several images are grouped, and each image in each group is first encoded with a random matrix and then modulated with a specific sinusoidal stripe;therefore, the dominant frequency of each group of images can be separated in the Fourier frequency domain. Each group is superimposed and scrambled to generate the final ciphertext. In the process of decryption, deep learning is used to improve the quality of decrypted image and the decryption speed. Specifically, the obtained ciphertext can be sent into the trained neural network and then the plaintext image can be reconstructed directly. Experimental analysis shows that when 32 images are encrypted, the CC of the decrypted result can reach more than 0.99. The efficiency of the proposed encryption method is proved in terms of histogram analysis, adjacent pixels correlation analysis, anti-noise attack analysis and resistance to occlusion attacks analysis. The encryption method has the advantages of large amount of information, good robustness and fast decryption speed.

In this work, we develop a new method for jointly optimal quantization of sinusoidal frequencies, amplitudes, and phases and apply the method to sinusoidal audio coding. This is an extension of an earlier work on quantization of sinusoidal amplitudes and phases to frequencies. The optimization is performed for a set of sinusoids that models a short segment of an audio signal. For a given bit-rate constraint, the optimal quantizers minimize a single-letter weighted distortion measure that accounts for perceptual importance of sinusoids. The quantizers are derived analytically using high-rate theory. The method yields high performance and has a number of practical advantages over conventional sinusoidal quantization methods.

In this paper, we propose an adaptive jointly parameter quantization scheme for sinusoidal matching pursuit (MP) audio coding, where the sinusoidal parameters (amplitude, frequency, phase) are quantized jointly based on the real time statistical knowledge of parameters. The optimal quantizers which minimize the perceptual distortion under a given entropy constraint, are derived analytically by high-rate theory. In comparison tests, the significant improvements achieved with the proposed scheme are shown.

There are many high performance speech coding algorithms, but most of them using bit rates higher than 5kbps. Expected quality of low bit rate speech coding has not been achieved yet, which is an area of interest for military and security applications. There is still room for improvement for low bit rates. Low bit rate speech coding using sinusoidal transform coding is discussed in this paper. The sinusoidal transform coding (STC) is a frequency domain speech compression technique, which can produce speech of high quality at bit rates below *** STC, speech signal are represented by linear combination of sine waves with time-vary amplitudes, phase, and frequencies. STC can produce high quality synthesized speech at low bit rates. This paper focuses on the development of a fully speech coder at 2.4 kbps and 4.8 kbps.

A binaural audio synthesis system based on sinusoidal modeling is proposed for spatial, low-bitrate audio coding utilized for example in teleconference applications. The system transmits monaural sinusoidal parameters of a downmix signal, from which the left and right binaural signals are synthesized according to the directional metadata at the receiver. Typical sinusoidal synthesis methods, as well as the effectiveness of a monaural frequency masking model, are evaluated in binaural context. Furthermore, a method for binaural noise residual synthesis and efficiency improvements for HRTF parameter acquisition are suggested. Tests utilizing speech signals indicate that sinusoidal modeling is an attractive technique for applications such as the proposed one.

Perceptual coding of digital audio

During the last decade, CD-quality digital audio has essentially replaced analog audio. Emerging digital audio applications for network, wireless, and multimedia computing systems face a series of constraints such as reduced channel bandwidth, limited storage capacity, and low rest. These new applications have created a demand for high-quality digital audio delivery at low bit rates. In response to this need, consider-able research has been devoted to the development of algorithms for perceptually transparent coding of high,fidelity (CD-quality) digital audio. As a result, many algorithms have been proposed, and several have non become international and/or commercial product standards. This paper reviews algorithms for perceptually transparent coding of CD-quality digital audio, including both research and standardization activities. This paper is organized as follows. First, psychoacoustic principles are described, with the MPEG psychoacoustic signal analysis model I discussed in some detail. Next, filter bank design issues and algorithms are addressed, with a particular emphasis placed on the modified discrete cosine transform, a perfect reconstruction cosine-modulated filter bank that has become of central importance in perceptual audio coding. Then, we review methodologies that achieve perceptually transparent coding of FM- and CD-quality audio signals, including algorithms that manipulate transform components, subband signal decompositions, sinusoidal signal components, and linens prediction parameters, as well as hybrid algorithms that make use of more than one signal model. These discussions concentrate on architectures and applications of those techniques that utilize psychoacoustic models to exploit efficiently masking characteristics of the human receiver. Entropy-constrained polar quantization and its application to audio coding

In, this work, we present a new method for quantization of sinusoidal amplitudes and phases, and apply the method to sinusoldal coding of speech and audio signals. The method is based on unrestricted polar quantization, where phase quantization accuracy depends on amplitude. Amplitude and phase quantizers are derived under an entropy (average rate) constraint using high-rate assumptions. First, we derive optimal quantizers for one sinusoid and a mean-squared error distortion measure. We provide a detailed analysis of entropy-constrained unrestricted polar quantization, showing its high performance and practicality even at low rates. Second, we find optimal quantizers for a set of sinusoids that model a short segment of an audio signal. The optimization is performed using a, weighted error measure that can account for the masking effect in the human auditory system. We find the optimal rate distribution between, sinusoids, as well as the corresponding optimal amplitude and phase quantizers, based on the perceptual importance of sinusolds defined by masking. The new method is used in an audio-coding application and is shown to significantly outperform a conventional sinsoidal quantization method where phase quantization accuracy is identical for all sinusoids.
