Recent research has focused on minimizing the number of sensors to reduce hardware complexity in Modular Multilevel Converter (MMC). While normal MMC operation with fewer sensors has shown reasonable performance, diagnosing switch or diode fault remains a challenge. Limited studies have addressed fault diagnosis in MMCs with reduced sensor operation, but these often suffer from either complex fault diagnosis methods or dependency on additional measurements. This work introduces a novel approach for diagnosing both switch and diode open circuit faults by leveraging existing measurements such as arm voltages, observed arm currents, and switching status, thereby eliminating the need for additional sensors. The proposed fault diagnosis method also avoids the use of a computationally intensive software approach. The simulation and experimental outcomes of a grid connected MMC validate the effectiveness of the proposed approach in diagnosing switch and diode open circuit fault.

A mathematical apparatus for forming motion trajectories of an industrial manipulator when performing technological operations has been developed. algorithms for the mathematical apparatus are created, which are integrated into a simulation model. A kinematic diagram of a six-tree manipulator is drawn up for conducting research on motion trajectory planning. algorithms for solving the forward and inverse problem of kinematics and motion planning of the manipulator are derived. The proposed algorithms are interpreted in program form in C# language. The results of the study were visualized in an environment for 3D viewing with the possibility of adjusting the input characteristics of the simulation model. The obtained software solution allowed to simulate the motion trajectory of the manipulator links with an accuracy from 0.1° to 1° at a calculation time of ≈15.62 milliseconds.

Fatigue driving is one of the main causes of road traffic accidents, posing a serious threat to traffic safety. Fatigue detection is crucial for drivers. This article introduces fatigue driving and its characteristic manifestations, discusses the two categories of current fatigue driving detection methods: subjective detection and objective detection. The principles of various detection methods are analyzed, and the latest research progress is summarized. Furthermore, an overview of classic datasets is provided, and the issues that current fatigue driving detection methods need to address, as well as future development directions, are identified.

The installation of distributed generation (DG) and the short circuit (SC) analysis have a considerable impact on radial distribution electrical networks. DG affects electrical systems such as voltage profiles, line losses, and short circuit levels. To ensure reliability and efficiency in the radial distribution systems, it is essential to design and install the distributed generators in the optimal location. This paper aims to investigate the impact of integrating the distributed generation units into the electrical distribution network. The modified PSO algorithm (MPSO) is implemented in MATLAB to optimize the placement and capacities of DG units. The effectiveness of the method was assessed by comparing it to other algorithms, such as the genetic method (GA), fireworks Algorithm (FWA), and modified plant growth algorithm (MPGSA). The optimal places and sizing of DG units were identified, the electrical distribution IEEE 33-bus system was modeled, and the DG units were incorporated using the ETAP software.

Genome sequence analysis is fundamental to medical breakthroughs such as developing vaccines, enabling genome editing, and facilitating personalized medicine. The exponentially expanding sequencing datasets and complexity of sequencing algorithms necessitate performance enhancements. While the performance of software solutions is constrained by their underlying hardware platforms, the utility of fixed-function accelerators is restricted to only certain sequencing *** paper presents QUETZAL, the first general-purpose vector acceleration framework designed for high efficiency and broad applicability across a diverse set of genomics algorithms. While a commercial CPU’s vector datapath is a promising candidate to exploit the data-level parallelism in genomics algorithms, our analysis finds that its performance is often limited due to long-latency scatter/gather memory instructions. QUETZAL introduces a hardware-software co-design comprising an accelerator microarchitecture closely integrated with the CPU’s vector datapath, alongside novel vector instructions to fully capitalize on the proposed hardware. QUETZAL integrates a set of scratchpad-style buffers meticulously designed to minimize latency associated with scatter/gather instructions during the retrieval of input genome sequences data. QUETZAL supports both short and long reads, and different types of sequencing data formats. A combination of hardware and software techniques enables QUETZAL to reduce the latency of memory instructions, perform complex computation using a single instruction, and transform data representations at runtime, resulting in overall efficiency gain. QUETZAL significantly accelerates a vectorized CPU baseline on modern genome sequence analysis algorithms by 5.7×, while incurring a small area overhead of 1.4% post place-and-route at the 7nm technology node compared to an HPC ARM CPU.

This article is devoted to the development of a microprocessor-based portable spectrophotometer for the analysis of substances in water, the development of an algorithm for analyzing data from the device, and the writing of software based on this algorithm. In addition, the article is devoted to assessing the applicability and relevance of this device for high-quality water monitoring. The article presents a structural diagram and an optical system diagram of a microprocessor-based portable spectrophotometer. In addition to the microcontroller, the portable device also uses at least two logical modules: a servo drive and a Bluetooth module. The principle of operation of the device's microcontroller is presented in the form of a structural diagram, the entire developed algorithm is divided into two main stages - a preparatory cycle and the main cycle in which samples are studied. A special algorithm has been developed that allows remote control of the spectrophotometer. In addition, the algorithm for intelligent data analysis has several operating modes and a calibration mode.

As large language models (LLMs) become increasingly embedded in diverse applications, from natural language processing to cybersecurity, the demand for robust privacy-preserving solutions has surged. This paper discusses privacy vulnerabilities in LLMs, identifying risks at system, application, and network levels. We categorize and evaluate current privacy-preserving methods, based on homomorphic encryption (HE), trusted execution environments (TEE), and secure multi-party computation (MPC), to assess their effectiveness in mitigating data exposure while supporting LLM performance. Building on these insights, we propose a novel privacy-preserving framework for fine-tuning and inference in LLMs. Our findings highlight existing gaps and propose future directions for developing secure, efficient, and scalable privacy-preserving LLM architectures.

In this paper, a multi-objective particle swarm optimization algorithm (DEMOPSO) is proposed, which introduces a double elite selection mechanism to select high-quality elite particles in the archive and enhances the convergence and diversity of the population. In addition, the algorithm adjusts the degree of variation according to the particle crowding, which further enhances the diversity of the population and avoids the dilemma of local optimal solutions. Finally, by comparing and analyzing the results with the selected six classical comparison algorithms on the ZDT series of test functions, the experimental results verify that DEMOPSO performs well in terms of convergence and diversity and is able to achieve better optimization results in complex multi-objective optimization problems, demonstrating its superior performance and advantages.

Traceability is important in the software development life cycle for managing the connections among various software artifacts, particularly pull requests (PRs) and issues. Developers often neglect to link these manually, reducing traceability. Existing algorithms to recover these links have limited application in closed-source projects. In this study, we share the experience of using ReLink, a predictive PR-issue linking tool with visualization capabilities, in a closed-source project environment. ReLink stands out due to its availability as a fully functional web application and its semi-automated nature, which enhances usability. ReLink determines missing links between PRs and issues based on a confidence score normalized between 0 and 100, calculated using text similarity and heuristic rules. The tool's effectiveness was evaluated in both an open-source project and an industry-based case study. In the open-source project, ReLink achieved a top-5 accuracy of 0.80 and a precision of 0.77. In the industrial case study, ReLink's effectiveness was validated by practitioners selecting the correct link from five issue suggestions, resulting in a top-5 accuracy of 0.86 and a mean reciprocal rank (MRR) of 0.84. Through this experience, we offer insights into both the benefits and challenges of implementing traceability link recovery in the industry and provide recommendations for practitioners seeking to bridge traceability gaps efficiently.
