Gas Source Localization (GSL) is a challenging field of research within the robotics community, with high-stakes search-and-rescue applications. Existing methods vary widely and each has its strengths and weaknesses. Comparisons of different methods are limited due to the lack of a broadly adopted and standardized testing methodology. Existing GSL evaluations vary in environment size, wind conditions, and gas simulation fidelity. They also lack photo-realistic rendering for the integration of obstacle avoidance. In this paper, we propose GSL-Bench, a benchmarking tool that can evaluate the performance of existing GSL algorithms. GSL-Bench features high-fidelity graphics and gas simulation, featuring NVIDIA’s ® Isaac Sim and OpenFOAM computational fluid dynamics software (CFD). Realism is further increased by simulating relevant gas and wind sensors. Scene generation is simplified with the introduction of AutoGDM+, capable of procedural environment generation, CFD and particle-based gas dispersion simulation. To illustrate GSL-Bench’s capabilities, three algorithms are compared in six warehouse settings of increasing complexity: E. Coli, dung beetle, and a random walker. With the application of vision algorithms in multitask scenarios such as image classification, object detection and object tracking, the traditional software reliability measurement scheme is difficult to meet the needs of new technologies. Therefore, the research related to the reliability measurement of deep learning vision algorithms has become an urgent need. In this paper, we collect and analyse failure cases in five vision application scenarios, such as image classification, object detection, object tracking, and semantic segmentation, to carry out failure analysis and fault tree analysis. Using the defective causes of the failure cases, ten reliability measurements of deep learning vision algorithms are established, covering four stages: dataset, algorithm training, algorithm inference and algorithm deployment. Through experiments, the influence of each index in the reliability measurement scheme was analysed. The experimental results show that all the measurements in the reliability measurement scheme constructed in this paper have a certain degree of influence, and the three measurements of data balance defect, interference data, and data accuracy defect have the highest influence on the vision task.

This paper presents a novel approach to enhancing the security of OpenSSL software for ARM architectures by leveraging an open source Trusted Execution Environment (TEE), so-called OP-TEE. The approach involves establishing communication between an OpenSSL Engine and a secure execution environment within OP-TEE, protecting cryptographic operations and sensitive data (e.g. private keys) against potential hardware and software vulnerabilities. The architecture is tested on a Digital Signature scenario using an ARM SoM based on the NXP/Freescale ***7 processor. The study unveils that the proposed architecture incurs a latency overhead due to the connection to OP-TEE. Conversely, the architecture exhibits an increase in execution time compared to standard OpenSSL software for data block sizes of 4 MB, with a manageable overhead of 32 ms. This overhead is deemed acceptable, given the security enhancements introduced by the architecture. The research underscores the significance of leveraging OP-TEE in addressing emergent cybersecurity challenges, thus bolstering the resilience of OpenSSL software in ensuring the security of connected devices.

The article is devoted to the methods of creating intelligent assistants. An intellectual assistant for interviewing candidates for available vacancies of enterprises is developed. When creating intellectual assistants the model-theoretic approach based on formal representation of precedents of subject areas in the form of partial models is applied. Knowledge about situations is formally represented in the form of fragments of atomic diagrams of algebraic systems. In order to solve the problems of hiring new employees of companies, a software system is developed, designed to conduct automated initial testing of knowledge, skills of candidates, as well as assessment of their competencies. The purpose of the work is to build a module of the intellectual assistant, which performs processing and analysis of the received user’s answer, selection of the next question for the candidate and control over the interview process. The created program complex is a link of the developed system, and can also be used in other subject domains and on other platforms. In the work of the intellectual assistant a four-level ontological model of the subject domain is used. The implemented methods of knowledge processing are based on the use of partial models and their ontological homomorphisms. The system provides the possibility of automated identification of knowledge, skills and competencies of candidates, allowing qualified specialists to save effort and time.

The primary objective of this research is to conserve water through smart agriculture, by employing the Random Forest algorithm to predict rainfall. By avoiding unnecessary irrigation on rainy days, this system conserves water. The proposed method works on both hardware and software. The hardware comprises two boards, one of which is the ESP8266 for wireless connectivity to the internet, while the other utilizes an Arduino microcontroller with additional sensors to track soil moisture, temperature, and humidity of the farming land. The software is a website developed using the Random Forest algorithm for rain prediction. The project integrates hardware and software by providing the sensor outputs through the website to the machine learning model for rain prediction. If rain is predicted, land water utilized for farming is conserved. With an accuracy of 88.5%, Random Forest predicts rain on that day, whereas the other models give an accuracy of 83%. The Random Forest algorithm also outperforms logistic regression used for rain prediction, resulting in more accurate predictions.

Physical layer multicasting is an efficient transmission technique that exploits the beamforming potential at the transmitting nodes and the broadcast nature of the wireless channel, together with the demand for the same content from several UEs. This paper addresses the max-min fair multigroup multicast beamforming optimization, which is an NP-hard problem. We propose a novel iterative elimination procedure coupled with semidefinite relaxation (SDR) to find the near-global optimum rank-1 beamforming vectors in a cell-free massive MIMO (multiple-input multiple-output) network setup. The proposed optimization procedure shows significant improvements in computational complexity and spectral efficiency performance compared to the SDR followed by the commonly used randomization procedure and the state-of-the-art difference-of-convex approximation algorithm. The significance of the proposed procedure is that it can be utilized as a rank reduction method for any problem in conjunction with SDR.

The development of cryptology is closely related to the improvement of the evaluation methodology of block ciphers, which have become widespread in the protocols for ensuring the security of banking information and other communication systems and networks due to their high productivity and low complexity of implementation. In addition to ensuring confidentiality (data protection during transmission from passive attacks), symmetric algorithms are used to ensure integrity based on message authentication codes (MAC codes) and hash functions, as components of an electronic digital signature, generation of pseudo-random post-sequences as part of authentication protocols etc. For the comparative evaluation of the efficiency (cryptoresistance) of symmetric crypto-algorithms, as a rule, methods of linear and differential cryptanalysis are used. Comparison of security mechanisms based on algorithms of traditional cryptography, public key cryptography, and hybrid cryptosystems is possible on the basis of a comprehensive indicator that takes into account the criteria of cryptoresistance, speed of cryptographic transformations, transparency of encryption procedures for the user, distribution of key sequences, investments in information security, which does not allow without significant time and economic costs to determine their effectiveness. That is why it is proposed to use express analysis based on the entropy method to assess the stability of crypto-algorithms of various models of crypto-systems. Most of the methods for assessing the quality of encryption mechanisms are based on a complex mathematical apparatus, and obtaining and interpreting the results requires special knowledge and additional funds. The proposed express analysis allows to intuitively compare not only the stability of various crypto-algorithms (crypto systems), but also their software implementation, without significant computing and energy costs.

The development of blockchain technology has promoted the advancement of information security, making it a top choice for addressing data management challenges in IoT-enabled smart buildings. However, traditional IoT blockchain systems face scalability issues and high storage costs due to their data storage strategies, such as full replication. Recently proposed encoded blockchain technology offers a solution, yet this approach often comes at the expense of query efficiency. This paper introduces an efficient distributed storage architecture for smart buildings that integrates hierarchical data aggregation and Reed-Solomon coding for classification storage. Our approach significantly reduces storage overhead and query latency while maintaining query performance. Theoretical analysis and simulations demonstrate the effectiveness of this architecture in optimizing storage efficiency, and query response time for IoT applications in smart buildings.

The workflow scheduling problem is a fundamental task in cloud computing. This paper addresses the challenge of workflow scheduling in dynamic and uncertain cloud environments, where computing resources may become inaccessible due to hardware or software failures. To tackle this challenge, we propose a novel algorithm called the Order Feature Guided Multi-Population (OFGMP) algorithm for dynamic workflow scheduling in cloud environments. The OFGMP algorithm utilizes a multi-population evolutionary framework, incorporating a knowledge-guided reproduction operator that leverages the order feature of solutions, as well as repair mechanisms to adapt to changing environmental conditions. Extensive experiments are conducted to validate the algorithm’s performance against existing dynamic scheduling approaches. The experimental results demonstrate the superiority of our proposed method over others on a number of test cases.

Approximate String Matching is a principle of data retrieval that allows for typos or misspelled words. It is widely applied in database management systems, search engines, and even in various applications and online services. Therefore, constantly seeking new algorithms to search for data quickly and accurately is a constant challenge for computer science researchers. This research article presents a new Approximate String Matching Algorithm utilizing a novel data structure called Backward Inverted Lists, which is an advancement of the Inverted Lists data structure commonly used for Single pattern String Matching. This new data structure enables the new Approximate String Matching Algorithm proposed in this research to efficiently detect Edit-distance values faster and more efficiently than conventional baseline methods. The newly proposed algorithm demonstrates low computational complexity and time, operating in linear time, making data retrieval faster than commonly used algorithms. Experimental results provide clear evidence that the new method outperforms previous methods significantly in both random data retrieval and real data retrieval from genome and DNA sequences. Additionally, the Backward Inverted Lists data structure exhibits flexibility and can be extended to support the development of various searching and approximate string matching algorithms in the future.
