Internet of Things devices are used almost everywhere. “Smart mirror” devices are also gaining popularity. However, in most cases, operating the device requires contact with the surface of the mirror, which leads to surface contamination and the risk of spreading infections in public places. In order to solve this problem, the study proposes an algorithm for visual recognition of touchless gestures by a camera, based on machine learning. Experiments were conducted with the participation of subjects, and showed that the proposed algorithm demonstrates an accuracy of gesture recognition by a “smart mirror” of more than 90%. The paper also provides recommendations for ensuring information security of user interaction with the “smart mirror”.

Greenhouse gas emissions control and minimization has been one of the central world policies during the past decades, shaping the goals and plans for future global sustainable development. Broad variety and lack of unified sustainability standards and regulations result in complexity of enterprise compliance and reporting. It also complicates data-driven decision making. Moreover, the peculiarities of business processes at each individual enterprise require building a highly customizable enterprise greenhouse gas emissions control and management system. Based on the results of the field study, an algorithm for such a system was designed, and is presented and described in this article.

The Softmax function holds an essential role in most machine learning algorithms. Conventional realization of Softmax necessitates computationally intensive exponential operations and divisions, thereby posing formidable challenges in developing low-cost hardware implementations. This paper presents a promising hardware-friendly alternative, Squaremax, which gets rid of complex exponential operations. The function definition is extremely simple and can thus be efficiently implemented in both software and hardware. Experimental results show that Squaremax consistently attains comparable or superior accuracy over several popular models. Besides, this paper also proposes an efficient hardware architecture design of Squaremax. It requires no functional units for exponential and logarithmic operations, and is even lookup table (LUT) free. It adopts a flexible 16-bit fixed-point Q format for I/O to better preserve the output precision, which leads to higher model accuracy. Moreover, it yields substantial improvements in speed, area, and power, as well as achieves remarkable area and power efficiency of 664 G/mm 2 and 1396 G/W in a 40nm process. Therefore, hardware-friendly Squaremax is a very promising alternative to complex Softmax in both software and hardware for deep learning applications, and the proposed hardware architecture design and efficient LUT-free implementation do achieve a notable improvement in speed, area, and power.

This paper describes a software model for solving the static problem of coordinateometry of nearby signal sources using the MUSIC super-resolution algorithm. The mathematical model permits to simulate the reception of a complex L-band radio signal on a flat equidistant antenna array with 4 antenna elements from several sources with different spatial, power and frequency parameters. Implemented MUSIC super-resolution algorithm gives the most accurate results compared to the beam scanning algorithm and the MVDR (Minimum Variance Distortionless Response) super-resolution algorithm. The coordinateometry algorithm, based on the least squares method, allows you to obtain the coordinates of signal sources with an accuracy of dozens of meters. An application with a graphical interface in the MATLAB environment implements the full functionality of the system: from entering initial parameters to visualizing numerical and graphical results. The obtained results can be applied in solving problems of radio communications, radar and radio navigation.

Visibility is a fundamental concept in computational geometry, with numerous applications in surveillance, robotics, and games. This software paper presents TřiVis, a C++ library developed by the authors for computing numerous visibility-related queries in highly complex polygonal environments. Adapting the triangular expansion algorithm, TřiVis stands out as a versatile, high-performance, more reliable and easy-to-use alternative to current solutions that is also free of heavy dependencies. Through evaluation on a challenging dataset, TřiVis has been benchmarked against existing visibility libraries. The results demonstrate that TřiVis outperforms the competing solutions by at least an order of magnitude in query times, while exhibiting more reliable runtime behavior. The article explores the concept of controlling elastic mechanical bodies to reduce structural responses in the presence of external disturbances. It proposes using a device that implements smart control based on state feedback as a connecting mechanism. The paper outlines an approach to solving control problems by addressing multi-criteria issues. This approach involves using a generalized H2-norm to describe the criteria. We introduce mathematical models for mechanical constructions, including single-mass and multi-mass systems. Mutual suppression of oscillations for a coupled mechanical structures is considered as two-objective control problem. There is presented a method for solving this two-objective control problem based on linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). The results of smart control calculations demonstrating its feasibility are discussed. The comparison of these results with those obtained using a simple isolator is given. To perform calculations and demonstrate the results, we use MATLAB software using the SDPT3 and YALMIP libraries.

An Approach to Constructing User-constrained Trustworthy Service Flow

Trustworthy service flow is an important content of the trustworthy software theory, and it is also a key point to achieve service-oriented computing currently. For meeting the diverse trustworthy requirements of consumers, using fuzzy set to describe the trustworthiness attribute of service is proposed. According to the theory of fuzzy set, the trustworthiness of service flow is computed and evaluated, and the similar service and similar service flow are defined. Constrained by the quantitative assessed trustworthiness and normalized QoS attributes, trustworthy service flow problem is formalized as the NPC problem, which is proved in terms of NPC problem definition. Then, a novel algorithm Hybrid QPSO is put forward for solving the trustworthy service flow problem. To illustrate the feasibility, and effectiveness of our approach, we take the travel service flow as an example to test, and compare the execution result of HQPSO algorithm with the backtracking algorithm and greedy algorithm.

The Capacitated minimum spanning tree (CMST) problem is one of the most fundamental and significant problems in the optimal design of networks. It is also a classical combinatorial optimization problem which has been tackled by researchers for centuries using various methods. In this paper, a new NS-TS hybrid optimization algorithm that combines neighborhood search and tabu search is proposed. A novel neighborhood structure and associate tabu strategy is proposed and implemented. Computational experiments showing the effectiveness and efficiency of the algorithm on benchmark instances are given.

Given a list $L$ of elements and a property $\psi$ that $L$ exhibits, ddmin is a classic test input minimization algorithm that aims to automatically remove $\psi$ -irrelevant elements from $L$ . This algorithm has been widely adopted in domains such as test input minimization and software debloating. Recently, ProbDD, a variant of ddmin, has been proposed and achieved state-of-the-art performance. By employing Bayesian optimization, ProbDD estimates the probability of each element in $L$ being relevant to $\psi$ , and statistically decides which and how many elements should be deleted together each time. However, the theoretical probabilistic model of ProbDD is rather intricate, and the underlying details for the superior performance of ProbDD have not been adequately explored. In this paper, we conduct the first in-depth theoretical analysis of ProbDD, clarifying the trends in probability and subset size changes and simplifying the probability model. We complement this analysis with empirical experiments, including success rate analysis, ablation studies, and examinations of trade-offs and limitations, to further comprehend and demystify this state-of-the-art algorithm. Our success rate analysis reveals how ProbDD effectively addresses bottlenecks that slow down ddmin by skipping inefficient queries that attempt to delete complements of subsets and previously tried subsets. The ablation study illustrates that randomness in ProbDD has no significant impact on efficiency. These findings provide valuable insights for future research and applications of test input minimization algorithms. Based on the findings above, we propose CDD, a simplified version of ProbDD, reducing the complexity in both theory and implementation. CDD assists in 1 validating the correctness of our key findings, e.g., that probabilities in ProbDD essentially serve as monotonically increasing counters for each element, and 2 identifying the main factors that truly contribute to ProbDD's superior
