Parkinson’s Disease (PD), affecting 10 million people worldwide, is the second most common neurodegenerative disease. PD often starts with uncontrollable hand movements called tremors which hinder normal daily activities. PD does not have a cure, meaning early detection is crucial. This study utilized the Balanced Random Forest classifier (87% accuracy, $\mathbf{0. 9 3}$ AUC) and data from the PD-BioStampRC21 dataset to make a mobile app that classifies Parkinson’s in free-living conditions using methods from activity and PD classification using accelerometer data. The app is designed to be accessible to the general public, aiming to provide earlier detection of PD.

With the development of web technology, web applications are becoming more complicated and diverse, which makes full testing need lots of resources. Therefore, industries often face how to do effective web application testing with limited time and resources. Evaluating the importance of a web application's page nodes and testing high-importance nodes first is a workable solution. However, the existing methods only consider the content importance on the view of static and local, which lack the consideration of dynamic execution process and the overall topology structure. Web applications usually contain a large number of interaction events with users, which need to dynamically execute server-side logic code to respond to them and update the page nodes. Meanwhile, whether the nodes are in the key position of information transmission in the topology structure of the whole model is also very important for evaluating the importance of web nodes. Thus, in this paper, we propose a novel evaluation method of node comprehensive importance for web applications, which introduces the server-side code coverage to reflect the dynamic information of web applications, the betweenness centrality to consider topology information from a global perspective, and uses the multi-attribute decision-making method to calculate the final comprehensive importance. In addition, this paper implements multi-objective test case generation with GA and NSG A2 algorithms guided by diversity and page importance under the condition of limited resources. This can ensure that the generated test suite has good quality, while also the nodes with higher importance degrees are tested first. In detail, it can cover all important nodes using fewer test cases, with an average reduction of 1.14, compared with the existing methods.

In a distributed system environment, cloud computing describes a new technology that lets customers pay for the services they utilize as needed. Cloud service companies that prioritize maximum security supply a plethora of resources, including Infrastructure, software, Platform, and Database. The literature has a wealth of security measures, such as Service Level Agreements (SLAs), access control rules, and cryptographic methods. This work implements a novel compound data encryption technique called Data Security in Cloud Computing using Maritime Search and Rescue Algorithm (DSCC-MSRA). It integrates the advantages of an enhanced cypher block chaining algorithm having logical substitution with an optimization algorithm called MSRA for key generation. This encryption method uses a different algorithm for generating keys. This method is optimized to a reasonable degree by running it through a variety of security as well as statistical analyses. This ground-breaking method is compared to currently used, widely used algorithms in the industry. This technique aims to enhance the encryption procedure and complicate the cryptanalysis procedure. The proposed system provided a better result in accuracy, efficiency, and encryption when compared with existing methods like CNN, C-DSS.

The framework of the article is the simulation of space sensors and the aim of this study is the proposal of an algorithm for the relativistic correction on time delay used in position error estimation for geolocation applications. The reference scenario considers an electromagnetic field emitter placed on the surface of the Earth and a passive receiver embarked on a satellite. The focus is on the implementation of the relativistic correction on time clock due to the elliptic shape of the orbit of the satellite, time dilation and changes in potential energy. The adopted methodology is theoretical and involves the analytical description of the position error through the study of the relative geometry between the satellite and the emitter and the relativistic correction on times is derived. Input-output analysis of the model for simulation software development, useful for sensor performance prediction, shows that a relativistic correction can be implemented without changes at system level, but it only requires an update at algorithm level and the information on time clock synchronization. Starting from a Newtonian version of the algorithm, a more general relativistic algorithm is then presented and discussed. The paper concludes with an order of magnitude analysis of the relativistic contributions in worst cases scenario.

Targeting the issues of incomplete and imprecise theoretical frameworks, as well as lacking a solid theoretical foundation in the current domain of model-driven engineering, this paper proposed a formal semantic description method for code generation technology. The method is oriented towards the MCL metacrypto language. Firstly, it introduced domain-specific languages for cryptographic algorithm development: the MCL metacryptal language and the MCL model. Secondly, based on category theory and component-based software architecture models, it provided a formal description of the process from the MCL model to the MCL metacrypto language. Finally, combining the formal description with the Blockly framework, it implemented the XOR meta-model. This approach not only clarifies the fundamental principles to be followed in the model-driven code generation process but also extends the existing theoretical frameworks, offering new ideas and methods for research and practice in both cryptographic algorithm development and model-driven engineering fields.

Visible Light Positioning (VLP) systems offer a sophisticated solution to achieve indoor positioning. Utilizing the existing LED (light emitting diode) lighting infrastructure along with an optical receiver, the position of an object or an individual can be determined. In this work we give an overview of the design process of our own VLP system with the goal of creating an easily adoptable VLP system that utilizes conventional LED light and design a compact optical receiver unit for it. We demonstrate how frequency modulated LEDs, enable LED identification for the applied positioning algorithm, while remaining unobtrusive to room occupants. This work is intended to give reasoning to our design choices and to project future enhancements for the VLP system, both in terms of software and hardware.

Reconfigurable antennas can enhance 5G network coverage and capacity by dynamically adapting their characteristics to overcome propagation challenges in millimeter-wave (mmWave) environments. In this paper, we first present a single-fed cylindrical conformal antenna with beam-steering capabilities to support full 360° azimuthal scanning. The antenna has eight cascading 4×2 subarrays (i.e., a 4×16 array) operating at 28 GHz and is fed by a reconfigurable feeding network, which enables electrical switching between the subarrays to generate eight distinct radiation beams (states). The switching mechanism is implemented through the integration of PIN diodes within the antenna’s feeding network, modeled as a lumped RLC boundary in the full-wave simulation. Next, machine learning (ML) techniques are integrated into the state-selection optimization method based on the simulation data to select or predict the optimal beam that enhances network performance. We developed a low-complexity, fast-converging state-selection algorithm suitable for real-time applications and capable of adapting to dynamic environments. Using ray-tracing simulations, we modeled a single-user, single radio frequency (RF) chain mmWave communication system, where only one antenna state can transmit at a time. The received power at each antenna state was then used as the reward metric for the state-selection algorithm.

This study presents an autonomous mobile robot with advanced grasping capabilities designed to perform two missions: Pick and Place and Hold and Run. The robot’s four-wheeled chassis ensures stability and maneuverability, while an articulated arm with a specialized gripper manipulates 8-cm-diameter balls. Utilizing YOLO algorithms for accurate object detection, the vision system offloads image processing to a laptop via Wi-Fi for real-time monitoring and decision. Extensive tests validated the robot’s consistent task execution, demonstrating dexterity and intelligent navigation. Challenges such as hardware integration and vision system optimization were innovatively addressed. The modular design allows for easy upgrades and adaptability, highlighting significant future potential. The proposed robot fulfilled the preset goals of picking any defined colored ball and placing them into a box autonomously. Besides, achieving the athletic runner task around the classroom interior. This project showcases the interdisciplinary nature of robotics, combining mechanical engineering, computer vision, and software development with potential applications in service robotics.

One of the benefits of using executable specifications such as Behavioral Programming (BP) is the ability to align the system implementation with its requirements. This is facilitated in BP by a protocol that allows independent implementation modules that specify what the system may, must, and must not do. By that, each module can enforce a single system requirement, including negative specifications such as “don't do X after Y.” The existing BP protocol, however, allows only the enforcement of safety requirements and does not support the execution of liveness properties such as “do X at least three times.” To model liveness requirements in BP directly and independently, we propose idioms for tagging states with “must-finish;’ indicating that tasks are yet to be completed. We show that this idiom allows a direct specification of known requirements patterns from the literature. We also offer semantics and two execution mechanisms, one based on a translation to Büchi automata and the other based on a Markov decision process (MDP). The latter approach offers the possibility of utilizing deep reinforcement learning (DRL) algorithms, which bear the potential to handle large software systems effectively. This paper presents a qualitative and quantitative assessment of the proposed approach using a proof-of-concept tool. A formal analysis of the MDP-based execution mechanism is given in an appendix.

Electric vehicles (EVs) have been widely adopted to prevent global warming in recent years. The higher installation of Level-1 and Level-2 chargers in residential areas soon poses challenges to the distributed network. However, such challenges can be mitigated through the adoption of smart charging or controlled charging schemes. To facilitate the implementation of smart charging, accurate forecasting of EV charging demand in residential sectors is essential. This study focuses on utilizing machine learning (ML) techniques to predict EV charging demand based on charging data from Trondheim, Norway. A key contribution of this research is its systematic approach, providing a step-by-step implementation process of EV load forecasting using ML algorithms. By addressing the pressing issues surrounding the increasing demand for EV charging in residential areas, this paper offers valuable insights into sustainable transportation energy management. The results, obtained through Linear SVM, Wide Neural Network, Naive Bayes, and K-Nearest Neighbors algorithms implemented in MATLAB software, emphasize the effectiveness of ML techniques. This paper serves as an intelligent-based residential EV load forecast approach for researchers, policymakers, and industry professionals seeking effective strategies to mitigate the impact of EV charging on distributed networks.
