The development of digital computers, coupled with the communication technology has created the modern Digital India, or in a wider sense, the Cyber world, speeding up the information exchange as well as commerce. As we all know, the Stored-program Electronic Digital Computer is an “Algorithmic” machine. It is the ‘Stored-program’ or the software part of this digital computer system that is based on the machine-oriented encoding of the corresponding set of suitably arranged algorithms. Often a systematic Developer follows the standard design cycle viz. Algorithm=> Flowchart => Coding=> App=> Testing, to create an optimal program (or an App) for a given task. Thus, a User in the cyber world indirectly invokes some ‘algorithm’ in the backend, while tapping various services via Apps! This paper depicts certain basic numerical algorithms and explores their original equivalents appearing through classical Sanskrit texts. After indicating the following Classical Sanskrit words, that connote the (modern acronym) word “Algorithm”, viz. The paper tabulates a few classical numerical Sanskrit-algorithms with their corresponding contemporary English languages equivalents. This research work has been undertaken as a follow up of the NEP-2020 of the Education Ministry of the Government of India, relating the scientific developments to classical Indian Knowledge System (IKS). Being written from a teaching point of view, the students, researchers, faculty members from any branch find this general/popular presentation interesting & useful. Considering the page and time limits, the discussions of large number of classical numerical Sanskrit algorithms (which essentially form the backend of modern cyber world) are presently bypassed here, and the paper is focused on certain algorithmic Iterative Functions appearing through related classical Sanskrit texts.

In order to effectively solve the problems existing in the current navigable control reach of the Yangtze River, such as the quality of front-end data acquisition needs to be improved, the system command algorithm needs to be optimized, and the active scheduling capability of collaborative command is not yet available, researches on ship dynamic datas acquisition and fusion, signal revealing mode, signal remote control mode and electronic control system are carried out. By means of field investigation, field test and software development, an intelligent command system was developed, and the system was placed in Luzhou Waterway Bureau of the Yangtze River to carry out centralized control and remote command of the three control reaches of the Luzhou section of the Yangtze River: Lianshitan, Shenbeizui and Bingpan Moraine. After more than two years of trial operation, the effect is good, and it has a good prospect of popularization and application.

This research explores a novel computational approach for time series analysis based on LSTM’s lightweight variant GRU, combined with local attention mechanisms. The proposed model integrates innovative feature selection techniques and evolutionary algorithms to optimize model performance, addressing complex nonlinear problems in sequential data processing. Experimental results on financial datasets show that the optimized model improves prediction accuracy and generalization capability, offering important application value in data-driven decision-making and risk management. The model achieves a 0.9% improvement in R 2 , 5.0% reduction in MAE, and 9.4% decrease in MSE compared to standard baseline models, with potential applications for various time-dependent forecasting tasks.

This paper presents a deep reinforcement learning (DRL) agent for duty ratio control of the dual active bridge (DAB) converter using triple phase shift (TPS) modulation. The operation of a dual active bridge under the TPS modulation technique was briefly discussed, stating its advantage over the other phase shift techniques, thus creating the requirement of a model-free control approach for the converter. The reinforcement learning method has evolved as the deep reinforcement learning method that can solve complex problems with rising computational accuracy. This paper focuses on a deep deterministic policy gradient (DDPG) agent founded on actor-critic policy, i.e. implemented as the DRL controller. A detailed discussion about the control strategy using the DRL controller was presented. The model was simulated using MATLAB/Simulink software version 2024b to verify the voltage regulation of the dual active bridge using the DDPG agent. Finally, the conclusion presents the advantages of using a DRL controller for the TPS modulation of the DAB converter.

Increasing the noise immunity of a digital radio communication system (decameter communication line) through the use of software equalizers is a modern and relevant topic for the development of adaptation algorithms and mechanisms for using signal-code sequences for such a radio link. It is necessary to provide fundamentally new solutions for the task of creating ionospheric radio communication lines. A critical condition for each of these options is the effect of the Doppler shift. The study highlights the importance of adaptive technologies to ensure stable and reliable communications in a volatile and heterogeneous distribution environment. The proposed method of reducing the effect of Doppler shift by using a channel equalizer contains new ideas about using the variability of the signal preamble to adjust the receiver. Contribution. The simulation results showed that the use of equalizers significantly increases noise immunity, reducing the required signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) at a given level of bit errors (BER) by 10 −3 .

The multi-objective flexible flow shop scheduling problem with limited buffers (MO-FFSS-LB) is widely encountered in modern manufacturing systems. However, the existence of limited buffers greatly increases the complexity of job scheduling and needs to consider job completion time, replacement costs of different recipes, and dynamic buffer balancing simultaneously. To address the challenge of MO-FFSS-LB, this paper proposes a model-driven differential evolution (MDE) algorithm. Firstly, it designs a multi-layer coding mechanism to represent the solution of the problem according to the characteristics of the scheduling problem and then introduces an initialization mechanism to improve the quality of the initial solution and the solving efficiency. Moreover, the proposed MDE utilizes a machine learning-based model trained on historical scheduling data to approximate fitness, enabling rapid population evolution. To further improve the convergence speed and solution quality, a neighborhood search-based local optimization strategy and dynamically adjusted crossover rates and mutation factors strategy are introduced, enhancing the algorithm’s adaptability to complex scheduling problems. Experimental results demonstrate that the MDE algorithm can generate high-quality solutions for the MO-FFSS-LB and outperforms existing traditional scheduling algorithms in several performance metrics. This research not only provides an effective optimization tool for solving complex scheduling problems with limited buffer constraints but also offers new insights and methods for theoretical research and practical applications in related fields.

When ultrasound waves propagate through the human body, they produce reflections and scatterings, resulting in speckle noise in ultrasound images. Additionally, these speckles, being multiplicative noise, present a significant challenge for despeckling processing. Existing methods can suppress speckle noise, but they often struggle to adequately protect details while smoothing the images. In this paper, we propose a novel algorithm for ultrasound images by using multi-scale structural information distillation. Firstly, a denoising network is utilized to efficiently reduce speckle noise in ultrasound images. Next, a pre-trained network is leveraged to extract multi-scale features from both the noise ultrasound image and denoised ultrasound image. Multi-scale feature extraction is crucial as it enables the network to grasp diverse structural details across various resolutions, facilitating a deeper comprehension of the image content. Lastly, based on these extracted multi-scale features, a structural distribution similarity metric loss function is constructed. This loss function serves as a critical guide during the optimization process of the speckle noise suppression network. By minimizing this loss function, the network is trained to balance noise suppression with the preservation of fine structural details, aiming to overcoming the challenges posed by multiplicative speckle noise in ultrasound images. The proposed method is evaluated on a open access ultrasound image dataset, and the experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

This paper presents a novel approach to constructing a digital twin (DT) for the thermal cutting process of flat materials, such as those used in laser or gas cutting. The primary goal is to optimize the cutting tool path while accounting for thermal effects on the material, which can lead to overheating and deformation. The proposed method utilizes a discrete-logical (voxel-based) representation to model temperature changes in the material during cutting. A computational experiment demonstrates the effectiveness of the developed algorithm, which minimizes both idle travel and local overheating zones. The results show a 14% improvement in path optimization compared to traditional methods, highlighting the potential of integrating real-time temperature data into the cutting process. This approach enhances the quality of cut blanks and reduces production costs, making it a valuable tool for industrial applications.

This paper introduces sTiles, a GPU-accelerated software framework that computes factorization of sparse structured symmetric matrices. By leveraging tile algorithms to achieve fine-grained computations, sTiles employs a structure-aware flow of task executions for the Cholesky factorization to tackle challenging arrowhead sparse matrices with variable bandwidths. These matrices, common in various scientific and engineering fields, necessitate an adaptive factorization strategy that operates only on nonzero tiles. Our approach relies first on a collection of permutation techniques to minimize fill-in during factorization. Then, sTiles proceeds with a customized static scheduler to orchestrate computational tasks on shared-memory systems equipped with GPU hardware accelerators. sTiles strikes the required balance between the tile size and the degree of parallelism. The former has a direct impact on the algorithmic intensity, although monitoring the additional floating-point operations and memory footprint becomes crucial for parallel performance. The latter may be limited due to the inherent arrowhead sparse matrix structure. To further expose parallelism, we must adopt a left-looking variant of the Cholesky factorization to break the sequential dependencies during the accumulation operations on the trailing submatrix and operate on them instead using tree reductions. Extensive evaluations demonstrate a boost in performance for the sparse Cholesky factorization on various arrowhead structured matrices against the state-of-the-art sparse libraries, with sTiles achieving up to 8.41X/9.34X/5.07X/11.08X speedups compared to CHOLMOD/SymPACK/MUMPS/PARDISO, respectively. On GPUs, sTiles further exploits the computational throughput by adjusting the two key ingredients aforementioned to attain a 5X speedup compared to a 32-core AMD EPYC CPU when executed on an NVIDIA A100 GPU. The work is devoted to solving the problem of restoring the representation of the source code of a program (and in the future, algorithms, architecture, etc.) in the form of a binary code, which will allow searching for vulnerabilities in them more effectively. For this purpose, it is proposed to use reverse-engineering based on genetic algorithms. The concept of genetic reverse-engineering, consisting of a sequence of deevolutions of individual representations of the program, and created necessary model-algorithmic instrumentry, is described. The results of experiments on restoring the source code for a non-trivial mathematical expression by various methods and the obtained operating time are presented: by expert groups – 30, 15 and 3-5 minutes, by smart brute-force – 10 minutes, by a genetic de-evolution prototype (as a special case of full reverse-engineering) – 0.5 minutes.
