This paper presents a new FPGA design of a task scheduler that supports not only aperiodic hard real-time tasks but periodic tasks too. Whenever a period of a periodic task is elapsed, the task is automatically restarted with no need of software intervention. The proposed scheduler is using Earliest Deadline First (EDF) algorithm. For inter-task synchronisation, the scheduler also supports temporary suspension of tasks with automatic resumption of tasks after the specified time elapsed. The proposed architecture is based on priority queues used for time management and decision-making processes. Thanks to FPGA implementation of the scheduler and its priority queues, the scheduler operations are always performed in two clock cycles regardless of the current number of tasks and regardless of the maximum possible number of tasks in the system. The paper contains results obtained by FPGA synthesis done for various parameters using Intel FPGA Cyclone V device. The proposed solution was verified using simplified version of Universal Verification Methodology (UVM) and applying millions of test instructions with randomly generated deadline and period values.

Single carrier frequency domain equalization technology is an important component of physical layer technology for broadband wireless access system, which can effectively avoid the lack of great complexity for single-carrier time domain equalization, as well as the high PAPR for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing In this paper, the MMSE decision feedback frequency domain equalization (MMSE-DFE) algorithm and the LMS frequency domain adaptive equalization algorithm are researched comparably. On this basis, a new LMS decision feedback frequency domain adaptive equalization (LMS-DFE) algorithm using non-linear structure is proposed. The computer Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can effectively update the equalizer tap coefficients by tracking the channel changes, and then lower BER are obtained.

This paper proposes a method for generating OpenSCENARIO1.0 files based on accident data (PCM) exported from PC-CRASH traffic accident reconstruction software. This method analyzes PCM raw data, integrates and processes data from different files such as dynamics data, traffic participant data, and weather data based on simulation time, extracts traffic participants and their motion data based on these data and algorithms, and then combines these data into XOSC files based on XSD(XML Schema Definition) files. Finally, to ensure the accuracy of the generated scenarios, strict validation testing was conducted in the VTD simulation environment.

XML is rapidly becoming technologies for information exchange and representation. It causes many research issues such as semantic modeling methods, conversion for interoperability with other models, and so on. Especially, the most important issue in practical area is how to achieve the interoperability between XML model and relational database model. Until now, many methods have been proposed to achieve it. However, several problems still remain. Most of all, existing methods do not consider implicit referential integrity relations, so it causes loss of information. This paper proposes an algorithm for extracting referential integrity relations during RDB to XML translation. The key point of our method is how to find implicit referential integrity relations among columns which have different names to represent the same semantic. To resolve it, we define an enhanced extraction algorithm which based on a widely used ontology, WordNet. The proposed algorithm can reduce an extraction time among comparison columns in RDB tables and prevent loss of information.

Several research works have argued that adaptive beamforming has the potential to realize the high spectral efficiency requirements of next-generation wireless standards, and is especially well-suited for multipath-rich environments such as indoors. Most works have been limited to theory; few works in literature address the practical benefits and realizability of adaptive beamforming. In this paper, we design and implement the first indoor WLAN beamforming system with multi-element array antennas and software radio platforms, that forms a testbed for exploration of practical benefits of beamforming, and evaluation of algorithms for efficient beamforming in diverse environments. In the process of building the system, we identify and address several challenges with practical beamforming that are often ignored in theoretical works. Most importantly, channel estimation for forming the best beam to a user is hindered by oscillator drifts on the transmitter and receiver side that introduce hard-to-isolate phase and frequency offsets from the estimated channel coefficients. We describe these issues and incorporate novel solutions in our system to address them without requiring hardware modifications. We use the system to demonstrate the realizable benefits of adaptive beamforming in a typical indoor office environment.

This paper presents an efficient hardware-based approach for segmentation of brain MR images utilizing kernel Fuzzy-C-Means (KFCM). First, the performance of the FCM algorithm for MR image segmentation is evaluated on 217 * 181 images of BrainWeb dataset by a software implementation of it. Experiments demonstrated that the proposed algorithm provides a clustering accuracy of 96%; an appropriate result compared to other methods. After asserting the validity of the algorithm, the hardware implementation of the algorithm is conducted. Here, an overall architecture is proposed and designed toward being implemented on Xilinx FPGA Virtex7. Based on synthesis results, this design occupies approximately 19% of the hardware resources of xa7al00tcsg324-2I. Base obtained clock frequency of the designed system was 108MHz; then it is increased to 254 MHz by applying optimization techniques such as pipelining and reducing critical path delay. In the final proposed design, the amount of speed up factor compared to software implementation is 101.06. This improvement in speed is the aim of optimized hardware implementation.

This paper presents a new approach to GPS-based navigation which offers significant improvement in antijam capability over traditional designs. The algorithms may be implemented at low cost in software in existing and future GPS receivers using, as inputs, postcorrelation I and Q data and, optionally, raw data from other sensors. Traditional systems are not optimal at high jammer-to-signal (J/S) ratios as a consequence of modular design, use of traditional fixed-gain or gain-scheduled tracking loops, and use of artificial moding logic. The approach described here employs a nonlinear filter that operates efficiently at all J/S levels. Filter gains continuously adapt to changes in the J/S environment, and the error covariance propagation is driven directly by measurements to enhance robustness under high jamming and dynamics conditions. Extended-range correlation may be optionally included to increase the code tracking loss-of-lock threshold under high jamming scenarios. Computational complexity is comparable to an extended Kalman filter. Results of hardware-in-the-loop simulations are presented which demonstrate improvements of 15 dB or more in antijam capability relative to traditional designs.

In this paper we propose a quadratic dynamic programming algorithm applied in software testing domain, more specific in the test case selection decision making. We addressed a specific problem in software testing: running a subset of test cases from the whole set of available test cases in a limited time frame with the goal of maximizing the chances of finding potential defects. We employed both objective methods as the dynamic programming algorithm and subjective and empiric human decision as defining the selection and prioritization criteria. The proposed solution is suited for medium to large projects where in the worst-case scenarios the memory space complexity of the proposed algorithm does not exceed the order of GBytes. The proposed optimization algorithm is presented in pseudocode along with the dynamic programming recurrence formula and potential selection criteria as currently used in the industry.

In recent years, streamed 360° videos have gained popularity within Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) applications. However, they are of much higher resolutions than 2D videos, causing greater bandwidth consumption when streamed. This increased bandwidth utilization puts tremendous strain on the network capacity of the cloud providers streaming these videos. In this paper, we introduce L3BOU, a novel, three-tier distributed software framework that reduces cloud-edge bandwidth in the backhaul network and lowers average end-to-end latency for 360° video streaming applications. The L3BOU framework achieves low bandwidth and low latency by leveraging edge-based, optimized upscaling techniques. L3BOU accomplishes this by utilizing down-scaled MPEG-DASH-encoded 360° video data, known as Ultra Low Resolution (ULR) data, that the L3BOU edge applies distributed super-resolution (SR) techniques on, providing a high quality video to the client. L3BOU is able to reduce the cloud-edge backhaul bandwidth by up to a factor of 24, and the optimized super-resolution multi-processing of ULR data provides a 10-fold latency decrease in super resolution upscaling at the edge.
