In network security, Network Function Virtualization can be exploited to implement flexible security services tailored to specific user needs. However, in practice this is hard to achieve due to the limitations of reference software platforms, such as Kubernetes, which are designed to orchestrate cloud-native services. In this work, we complement Kubernetes with a state-of-the-art algorithm for application-aware provisioning of security services. We demonstrate that the proposed solution improves basic provisioning mechanisms, such as the default Kubernetes scheduler, in terms of Quality of Service and security guarantees for the users.

Performance of distributed data center applications can be improved through use of FPGA-based SmartNICs, which provide additional functionality and enable higher bandwidth communication and lower latency. Until lately, however, the lack of a simple approach for customizing SmartNICs to application requirements has limited the potential benefits. Intel's Configurable Network Protocol Accelerator (COPA) provides a customizable FPGA framework that integrates both hardware and software development to improve computation and communication performance. In this first case study, we demonstrate the capabilities of the COPA framework with an application from cryptography - secure Multi-Party Computation (MPC) - that utilizes hardware accelerators connected directly to host memory and the COPA network. We find that using the COPA framework gives significant improvements to both computation and communication as compared to traditional implementations of MPC that use CPUs and NICs. A single MPC accelerator running on COPA enables more than 17Gb/s of communication bandwidth while using only 3% of Stratix 10 resources. We show that utilizing the COPA framework enables multiple MPC accelerators running in parallel to fully saturate a 100Gbps link enabling higher performance compared to traditional NICs.

Model Free Control (MFC) is a novel strategy to handle nonlinear and unknown dynamices in the control of vehicle systems. The method is based on an ultra-local model, which approximates the dynamical behavior of the system for a short time period. Although this algorithm has already been successfully applied to several control problems, there are some open questions, related to its implementation and tuning issues. This paper proposes a new control parameter tuning method on the ultra-local model for achieving improved trajectory tracking performances with MFC. A novel formulation of the MFC structure, i.e., an error-based ultra-local model, for tuning purposes is presented. Moreover, the control parameter tuning method based on data-driven tools for achieving optimal control parameter selection is proposed. The effectiveness of the proposed control strategy through a trajectory tracking problem using high-fidelity vehicle dynamics simulation software is illustrated.

pressure to improve software development processes is not new, but today 's competitive environment places even greater emphasis on delivering better services at lower costs. Research and development of technologies to simplify and accelerate software development has been conducted since the existence of software. Never the less, projects typically spend at least 50 percent of their development work on rework that could have been avoided, or at least fixed in a more cost-effective manner. By finding more defects early in the software testing process, much of the rework cost can be avoided. One of the main reasons for high rework costs is that defects leak from early stages, when it is cheaper to find and eliminate them. Fault slip-through(FST) metrics are used to determine whether a fault has passed through the phrase in which it should be discovered. Defects can occur during unit testing, functional testing, integration testing, and system testing stages of a software project. The purpose of this study is to investigate the performance of the Cat Swarm optimization algorithm in predicting the drift of functional bugs during the software testing stage. The results obtained in this work show that the accuracy, precision, recall, f1: of the Cat Swarm optimization algorithm for the functional metric number of fault slip-through are 92%, 83%, 91% and 87%, respectively is show that.

The work proposed an automatic droplet splitting and routing algorithm on the control software based on a digital microfluidics chip. The algorithm can generate single droplets in an array by a recursive process, which is automatic and time-saving. The algorithm can be applied on biomedical applications in need of droplet arrays of large scale.

One of the biggest challenges at the moment in terms of vehicles is the realization of their autonomous operation. The control solution to this problem includes two functionalities: the hardware level of operation, detection, and communication, and the second level, software, which consists of advanced surveillance algorithms for the environment and the implementation of control algorithms. This paper aims to develop and implement an algorithm to compute the maximum velocity of a vehicle on a certain road sector. Linear mathematical models describing the operation of the vehicle were used emphasizing the two dynamics, longitudinal and lateral, respectively. The velocity adjustment solution is based on the model predictive control strategy that ensures good performances. As a reference to the process, several types of trajectories were considered based on which it was possible to calculate the velocity at each point. In this way, the velocity has been adapted accordingly, taking the maximum value necessary to achieve a safe movement along the road.

The Cyber-Physical Mobility (CPM) Remote project provides web-based access to a simulation service and the CPM Lab itself, which is provided by the Chair of Embedded software at RWTH Aachen University. With this approach, users no longer need special hardware, software, or physical access to use the simulation tool and the CPM Lab. This reduces the effort required to participate in research compared to the conventional simulation and lab setup. CPM Remote already offers uniform hardware by out-sourcing the simulation to our Chair's servers and uniform software through the computer simulation of the CPM Lab. This paper proposes extending the CPM Remote framework by a set of formalized problems and a unified evaluation method. These benchmarks detect whether the vehicles have successfully passed through the scenario and evaluate the quality of the driven trajectories. We compiled the extracted scenarios into an event, the CPM Olympics. Thus, CPM Remote now has a fully defined stack for the objective comparison of algorithms for networked and autonomous driving.

With its mobility and flexibility, autonomous robots have received extensive attention in industrial Internet of Things (IoT). In this paper, we adopt non-orthogonal multiple access and multi-antenna technology to enhance the connectivity of sensors and the throughput of data collection through taking advantage of the power and spatial domains. For average sumrate maximization, we optimize the transmit power of sensors and the trajectories of robots jointly. To deal with uncertainty and dynamics in the industrial environment, we propose a multiagent reinforcement learning (MARL) algorithm with experience exchange. Next, we present the visualization of robotic communication and mobility to analyze the learning behavior intuitively. From the software implementation results, we observe that the proposed MARL algorithm can effectively adjust the communication strategies of sensors and control the trajectories of robots in a fully distributed manner. Accurate identification of an uncertain underwater environment is one of the challenges of underwater robotics. Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) needs to understand its environment accurately to achieve autonomous tasks. The method proposed in this paper is a real-time automatic target recognition based on Side Scan Sonar images to detect and localize a harbor's wall. This paper explains real-time Side Scan Sonar image generation and compares three Deep Learning object detection algorithms (YOLOv5, YOLOvS-TR, and YOLOX) using transfer learning. The YOLOv5-TR algorithm has the most accurate detection with 99% during training, whereas the YOLOX provides the best accuracy of 91.3% for a recorded survey detection. The YOLOX algorithm realizes the flow chart validation's real-time detection and target localization.

Dual Connectivity is a key approach to achieving optimization of throughput and latency in heterogeneous networks. Originally a technique introduced by the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) for terrestrial communications, it is not been widely explored in satellite systems. In this paper, Dual Connectivity is implemented in a multi-orbital satellite network, where a network model is developed by employing the diversity gains from Dual Connectivity and Carrier Aggregation for the enhancement of satellite uplink capacity. An introduction of software defined network controller is performed at the network layer coupled with a carefully designed hybrid resource allocation algorithm which is implemented strategically. The algorithm performs optimum dynamic flow control and traffic steering by considering the availability of resources and the channel propagation information of the orbital links to arrive at a resource allocation pattern suitable in enhancing uplink system performance. Simulation results are shown to evaluate the achievable gains in throughput and latency;in addition we provide useful insight in the design of multi-orbital satellite networks with implementable scheduler design.
