In the ever-evolving landscape of autonomous vehicles, competition and research of high-speed autonomous racing emerged as a captivating frontier, pushing the limits of perception, planning, and control. Autonomous racing presents a setup where the intersection of cutting-edge software and hardware development sparks unprecedented opportunities and confronts unique challenges. The motorsport axiom, “If everything seems under control, then you are not going fast enough,” resonates in this special issue, underscoring the demand for algorithms and hardware that can navigate at the cutting edge of control, traction, and agility. In pursuing autonomy at high speeds, the racing environment becomes a crucible, pushing autonomous vehicles to execute split-second decisions with high precision.

Over the last decade, there has been a huge demand for health care technologies such as sensors-based prediction using digital health. With the continuous rise in the human population, these technologies showed to be potentially effective solutions to life-threatening diseases such as heart failure (HF). Besides being a potential for early death, HF has a significantly reduced quality of life (QoL). Heart failure has no cure. However, treatment can help you live a longer and more active life with fewer symptoms. Thus, it is essential to develop technological aid solutions allowing early diagnosis and consequently, effective treatment with possibly delayed mortality. Commonly, forecasts of HF are based on the generation of vast volumes of data usually collected from an individual patient by different components of the family history, physical examination, basic laboratory results, and other medical records. Though, these data are not effectively useful for predicting this failure, nevertheless, with the aid of advanced medical technology such as interconnected multi-sensory-based devices, and based on several medical history characteristics, the broad data provided machine learning algorithms to predict risk factors for heart disease of an individual is beneficial. There will be many challenges for the next decade of advancements in HF care: exploiting an increasingly growing repertoire of interconnected internal and external sensors for the benefit of patients and processing large, multimodal datasets with new Artificial Intelligence (AI) software. Various methods for predicting heart failure and, primarily the significance of invasive and non-invasive sensors along with different strategies for machine learning to predict heart failure are presented and summarized in the present study.

Topology-Specific Synthesis of Self-Stabilizing Parameterized Systems with Constant-Space Processes

This paper investigates the synthesis of parameterized systems that are self-stabilizing by construction. To this end, we present several significant results. First, we show a counterintuitive result that despite the undecidability of verifying self-stabilization for parameterized unidirectional rings, synthesizing self-stabilizing unidirectional rings is decidable! This is surprising because it is known that, in general, the synthesis of distributed systems is harder than their verification. Second, we present a topology-specific synthesis method (derived from our proof of decidability) that generates the state transition system of template processes of parameterized self-stabilizing systems with elementary unidirectional topologies (e.g., rings, chains, trees). We also provide a software tool that implements our synthesis algorithms and generates interesting self-stabilizing parameterized unidirectional rings in less than 50 microseconds on a regular laptop. We validate the proposed synthesis algorithms for decidable cases in the context of several interesting distributed protocols. Third, we show that synthesis of self-stabilizing bidirectional rings remains undecidable.

Islanded Microgrids are preferred in locations, where plenty of renewable energy is available and access to the power grid is quite difficult. Maintaining power quality and reliability of supply is a challenging task. In this proposed work an academic institution is considered with various buildings operating in islanded mode. The institution has multiple power sources- solar photovoltaic panels, battery energy storage systems, and diesel generator. The planning and implementation of an islanded microgrid is done in HOMER PRO software and for the efficient working of academic institution a fuzzy-based energy management scheme has been identified and implemented using MATLAB/SIMULINK. © 2022 IEEE.

Inserting of the protection system against exploits code in a situation where the source code is unavailable requires restoring the correctness of the program after modification. The proposed methodology makes it possible to formulate a criterion for the equivalence of programs and implement an algorithm for program transforming while preserving the logic of its operation. The experimental results confirm the correctness of the proposed solutions. © 2021 IEEE.

INTEGRATED LINEAR AND NONLINEAR DIGITAL CANCELLATION FOR FULL DUPLEX COMMUNICATION

Full duplex (FD) communication has the potential to double the throughput of wireless links while occupying the same bandwidth of half duplex communication. To enable FD communication, the self-interference (S1) signal is to be suppressed down to the noise floor. S1 cancellation can be achieved via antenna suppression, active analog cancellation, and digital cancellation. At high transmit power levels, the nonlinear behavior of the transceiver hardware degrades linear S1 channel estimation;hence, S1 cancellation results in reduced total suppression. In this article, we review nonlinear DSIC solutions in the literature, and we present a comprehensive integrated linear and nonlinear digital S1 cancellation framework with nested and residual approaches, where nonlinear algorithms, memory polynomial, support vector regression, and orthonormalized least mean squares algorithms are implemented together with linear cancellation. The performance of the proposed integrated framework is evaluated in comparison with well-known nonlinear digital cancellation techniques by implementing all techniques on the same software defined FD radio setup, consisting only of a single antenna and a WARP v3 board. It is shown that the integrated residual approach can enhance the total S1 suppression performance significantly by up to 7 dB as compared to linear-only digital S1 cancellation and by up to 4 dB with respect to existing nonlinear-only techniques observed at moderate power levels, and the integrated nested approach can provide an improvement of up to 6 dB over linear-only and 3 dB over nonlinear-on-ly digital S1 cancellation for high power settings. All schemes are also evaluated in terms of training overhead and computational complexity, providing insights about the trade-off between cost and performance at different power levels.

This paper presents a novel approach to passivity assessment of multiport frequency-dependent rational models. The strategy exploits the interlacing properties relating the eigenvalues of a full transfer matrix and those of its submatrices plus some additional concepts from graph theory. Contrary to many existing approaches in which passivity assessment applies only to the full system, this novel scheme aims at identifying passive subsystems embedded into a non-passive system so that a partial positive system could be specified. This enables the identification of parameters contributing to passivity violations and how these are distributed across the system ports. We also propose an index to quantify how passivity violations permeate into the system and take as cases studies actual transformer data to demostrate its applicability.

Accurate software Effort Estimation is of high importance with regard to software Project Management. It can be specified as the process for predicting Effort regarding costs, needed for developing software products. A lot of techniques related to software effort estimation were carried out for developing models that are generating optimal estimation accuracy. Swarm intelligence is one such technique. The process-related in selecting the optimum estimation algorithm is expert dependent and complex. The presented study optimizes the estimation using the COCOMO II models by two models: the first model applied the dolphin algorithm, the second model applied suggested hybrid dolphin and bat algorithm (DolBat). By applying the two models on two data set and evaluate with the use of Magnitude of Relative Error(MRE) and Mean Magnitude of Relative Error(MMRE). The results indicate that the dolphin algorithm has better than previous algorithms but the (DolBat) is the best to get the coefficient value of the COCOMO II model.

A Fast Algorithm to Solve Delay Vandermonde Systems in Phased-Array Digital Receivers

Phased-array multibeam RF beamformers require calibration of receivers used in an array of elements before the signals can be applied to an analog beamforming network. This article presents a fast O(n(2)) algorithm for solving linear systems having a delay Vandermonde matrix (DVM) for the analog beamforming matrix. The structure of the DVM enables to obtain a fast algorithm to efficiently reverse multibeams at the DVM output such that calibration of the input low noise amplifiers can be achieved. The arithmetic complexity of the proposed DVM system solving algorithm is preferable over the standard matrix inversion consuming O(n(3)) operations. Numerical experiments are presented for forward accuracy of the proposed algorithm computed at the calibration frequency. Moreover, numerical results are shown to compare the order of the arithmetic complexity and the execution time of the proposed algorithm. Signal flow graphs are presented for four- and eight-element multibeam phased arrays.

Detecting Integer Overflow Vulnerabilities in Binary Executables Based on Target Filtering and Dynamic Taint Tracing

The number of identified integer overflow vulnerabilities has been increasing rapidly in recent years. In this paper, a smart software vulnerability detection technology is presented, which is used for the identification of integer overflow vulnerabilities in binary executables. The proposed algorithm is combined with Target filtering and dynamic taint tracing (TFDTT). Dynamic taint tracing is used to reduce the mutation space and target filtering function is used to filter test cases during the process of test case generation. Theory analysis indicates that the efficiency of TFDTT is higher than NonTF-DTT and random Fuzzing technology. And the experiment results indicate that the detection technology based upon TFDTT can identify the possible integer vulnerabilities in binary program, meanwhile, it is more efficiency than other two technologies.
