Thermomechanical stress induced by through-silicon vias (TSVs) plays an important role in the performance and reliability analysis of 2.5D/3D ICs. While the finite element method (FEM) adopted by commercial software can provide accurate simulation results, it is very time-and memory-consuming for large-scale analysis. Over the past decade, the linear superposition method has been utilized to perform fast thermal stress estimations of TSV arrays, but it suffers from a lack of accuracy. In this paper, we propose MORE-Stress, a novel strict numerical algorithm for efficient thermal stress simulation of TSV arrays based on model order reduction. Experimental results demonstrate that our algorithm can realize a 153–504 x reduction in computational time and a 39-115x reduction in memory usage compared with the commercial software ANSYS, with negligible errors less than 1%. Our algorithm is as efficient as the linear superposition method, with an order of magnitude smaller errors and fast convergence.

In VANETs, vehicles typically broadcast periodic beacon messages, which can be accessed by malicious attackers to track vehicles. To enhance the location privacy of vehicles and reduce the linkage between a vehicle's communication identity and its specific location, this paper proposes a location privacy protection scheme based on pseudonym exchange. By exchanging alternative pseudonyms, the anonymity entropy of vehicles is increased, thereby reducing the probability of being tracked. This approach effectively elevates the level of privacy protection for vehicles during network communications and provides a new perspective on defending against location tracking.

Radice: (Italian noun) root Root cause analysis is one of the most crucial operations in software reliability regarding system performance diagnostic. It aims to identify the root causes of system performance anomalies, allowing the resolution or the future prevention of issues that can cause millions of dollars in losses. Common existing approaches relying on data correlation or full domain expert knowledge are inaccurate or infeasible in most industrial cases, since correlation does not imply causation, and domain experts may not have full knowledge of complex and real-time systems. In this work, we define a novel causal domain knowledge model representing causal relations about the underlying system components to allow domain experts to contribute partial domain knowledge for root cause analysis. We then introduce RADICE, an algorithm that through the causal graph discovery, enhancement, refinement, and subtraction processes is able to output a root cause causal sub-graph showing the causal relations between the system components affected by the anomaly. We evaluated RADICE with simulated data and reported a real data use case, sharing the lessons we learned. The experiments show that RADICE provides better results than other baseline methods, including causal discovery algorithms and correlation based approaches for root cause analysis.

Constrained Path-based Testing (CPT) is a technique that extends traditional path-based testing by adding constraints on the order or presence of specific sequences of actions in the tests of System Under Test (SUT) processes. Through such an extension, CPT enhances the ability of the model to capture more real-life situations. In CPT, we define four types of constraints that either enforce or prohibit the use of a pair of actions in the resulting test set. We propose a novel Constrained Path-based Testing Composition (CPC) algorithm to solve the Constrained Path-based Testing Problem. We compare the results returned by the CPC algorithm with two alternatives, (1) the Filter algorithm, which solves the CPT problem in a greedy manner, and (2) the Edge algorithm, which generates a set of test cases that satisfy edge coverage. We evaluated the algorithms on 200 problem instances, with the CPC algorithm returning test sets (T) that have, on average, 350 edges, which is 2.4% and 11.1% shorter than the average number of edges in T returned by the Filter algorithm and the Edge algorithm, respectively. Regarding the compliance of the generated T with the constraints, the CPC algorithm produced T that satisfied the constraints in 95% of the cases, the Filter algorithm in 45% cases, and the Edge algorithm returned T that satisfied the constraints only for 6% SUT instances. Regarding the coverage of edges, the CPC algorithm returned test sets that contained, on average, 91.5% of edges in the graphs, while for T returned by the Filter algorithm, it was 90.8% edges. When comparing the average results of the edge coverage criterion and the fulfillment of the constraint criterion by individual algorithms, we consider the incomplete edge coverage achieved by the CPC algorithm and, at the same time, 95% fulfillment of the graph constraints to be a reasonable compromise.

Aiming at the problem of low refresh rate and high-power consumption of electronic ink screen, this paper studies a refresh optimization technology based on FPGA and proposes a dynamic waveform optimization algorithm (DWOA). The algorithm analyzes the dynamic and static areas of the image content, dynamically adjusts the driving waveform, selects high-frequency refresh waveform for the dynamic area, and selects low-frequency refresh waveform for the static area, thereby reducing unnecessary refresh operations and improving display efficiency. The system architecture is based on Xilinx ZYNQ7010/7017 chip, combined with dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 (PS side) and FPGA (PL side), realizing software and hardware collaborative optimization. The experiment was carried out in the Vivado 18.2 development environment, and the image sequence containing static and dynamic content was used for testing. The results show that the DWOA algorithm increases the refresh rate from 0.5 Hz of the traditional algorithm to 1.2 Hz, and reduces the power consumption from 2.5 W to 1.8 W. The algorithm not only significantly improves the display performance of the electronic ink screen, but also reduces energy consumption, providing a new technical path for the application of electronic ink screen in the field of dynamic display, which has important theoretical and practical significance.

The field-programmable gate array (FPGA) offers an effective solution to meet the high-performance requirements of real-time digital signal processors. IP cores developed on FPGAs benefit from the programmable logic's flexibility, efficient timing, and adaptability in algorithm modification, coupled with the processing power provided by the embedded processor. Integrating image processing into this sector is an ideal addition, especially in the growing field of edge detection, which is crucial in areas like image pattern recognition, machine learning, and data processing. This paper presents a case study focused on kidney CT scan images for edge detection, utilizing the Sobel and Canny edge detection techniques on the target FPGA device, xc7z020clg484-1. An IP core was designed and generated using VIVADO software, converting image pixels into binary form for pre-processing through these edge detection algorithms. The algorithms were simulated and synthesized on the xc7z020clg484-1 FPGA, with the entire design implemented in Verilog code to create the IP, which connects to the DMA controller throughout the system. This IP core can process multiple CT scan images simultaneously, making it valuable for various biomedical applications. The primary aim of this research is to compare the Sobel and Canny edge detection algorithms to identify the best approach for developing an IP core, evaluated by metrics such as total power consumption, CPU time, execution time, LUT count, and FF usage. The resulting IP core is efficient and conserves resources, making it suitable for other embedded applications.

Logistics path planning technology is one of the key technologies of logistics logistics system, which has important research value. Scholars at home and abroad have carried out extensive research on logistics path planning, and proposed intelligent optimization algorithms, heuristic algorithms, sampling algorithms and other path planning methods. However, there are still many problems in the existing research results, for example, the existing methods are mostly based on the path planning problem of logistics as the research object, without considering the cooperative operation of the path in the actual operation scenario. Moreover, the existing logistics path planning algorithms are less efficient and have the risk of falling into local optimization. Aiming at the above problems, this paper proposes an efficient logistics path planning method for multi-logistics operation scenarios, which realizes the planning path close to the optimum and avoids the logistics conflict problem at the same time. In this paper, we optimize the redundant turning points of the local path planning algorithm due to the limitation of the expansion direction, and at the same time extend its evaluation function to realize the integration of the algorithm. The length of the planning path of the improved algorithm is shortened by $\mathbf{3 5. 4 \%}$ and $\mathbf{2 5. 8 \%}$ respectively, and the completion time of the task is reduced by 10.2 % and 6.4 % respectively, which verifies that the improved algorithm has certain optimization effect.

This paper discusses the optimization strategies of image processing technology in art design, and verifies the effectiveness of these strategies through experiments. In order to achieve the research goal, this paper designs a targeted experimental scheme. In terms of methods, this paper comprehensively optimizes the image processing technology around three core directions: improving algorithm efficiency, optimizing user interface and enhancing artistic effect. A series of experiments are carried out by adjusting algorithm parameters, improving model training skills and expanding the functions of image processing software. The experimental results show that the optimized image processing technology has achieved remarkable results in all aspects. The running efficiency of the algorithm is obviously improved, and the processing speed is greatly accelerated; The user interface is more friendly and intuitive, and the designer's operation convenience is greatly improved; The artistic effect is more colorful, which meets the designer's higher pursuit of creative expression. These experimental results fully prove the effectiveness of the optimization strategy. The application prospect of image processing technology in art design is broad, and the optimization strategy is of great significance to improve the design efficiency, quality and creativity.

Image segmentation is the way of splitting digital data into subgroups known as image segments, which reduces the entire image's complexity and allows for further processing or image analysis of each segment. The general segmentation techniques of images are divided into traditional methods and deep learning methods. In this paper, we introduce a deep-learning approach to a traditional image segmentation method (i.e., edge detection) and propose a new framework for hierarchical image segmentation. In the new framework, we first use the Bi-Directional Cascade Network (BDCN) model as our edge detector to preprocess the input image in order to form a feature map with coarse edges. Then, we refine the edges of the image by using the watershed algorithm. Finally, we form a segmentation dendrogram by using the Ultrametric Contour Map (UCM) algorithm. Extensive experiments have demonstrated that our proposed framework has significant advantages in segmentation performance compared to the state-of-the-art algorithms.

Smart Building Control Based on Wireless Sensor-Actuator Networks

Wireless sensor-actuator networks can bring flexibility to building control. We develop a building control prototype system to exhibit how to apply the wireless sensor-actuator networks technologies to the building control. The general purpose is energy saving and emission reduction through the collaboration among a mass of lowcost sensor nodes and actuator nodes. In this paper, we detail the hardware and software in our building control prototype system, and then we address the following key technical challenges: (1) a lightweight trust management framework for discrete data; (2) self-adaptive audio sampling and combining reception algorithm; (3) hierarchical synchronization strategy. Finally, a set of experiments are presented to evaluate the performance of our key technologies.
