software development courses invariably require students to work on non-trivial software projects and demand ample supervised practice of students. In a conventional face-to-face classroom environment, time and resource limitations often severely constrain the scope of experiences that students gain and the supervision they receive. To alleviate these difficulties, we are working towards a blended learning approach for improving the leaching, learning and assessment activities in software development courses. This paper describes the requirements and design of TREASURE, a tool custom built to support blended learning of software project development, and the use of the tool in Such Courses.

A comparative analysis of CMMI software project management by Brazilian, Indian and Chinese companies

This article presents and discusses the perception of skilled professionals working in the Brazilian, Chinese and Indian software industries about their use of Capability Maturity Model Integration. About 429 employees from 19 software production companies that use the model took part in the study. Multivariate analysis methods, such as factorial analysis, were used to identify the interdependence between multiple variables. This led us to six factors: software project development, quality and productivity, professional career, team/working environment, problem identification and analysis and modeling. Three different analysis dimensions (country, company's maturity level and company size) were investigated to assess the impact of the CMMI model on the six factors, which were defined for each of these dimensions.

software cost estimation is important for budgeting, risk analysis, project planning and software improvement analysis. There are numerous estimation techniques. During the past three decades there had been some significant developments in effort estimation, size of software and cost estimation methodology. Current software cost estimation models have been experiencing increasing difficulties in estimating the costs of software, as new software development methodologies and technologies are emerging very rapidly. Most of the software cost models generally rely on such inputs as estimates of lines of source code, delivered sets of instructions, function points and processing complexity or experience levels to produce cost estimates. These models generally produce inaccurate results when used to estimate the cost of software development in current development environments such as those that use component-based software development environments like visual languages. The authors present in this study a new technique for software cost estimation that can be used for software projects developed using component-based fourth-generation-language environment. The model was calibrated using the empirical data collected from 19 software systems. Efficiency of the model was also compared with an existing model used for such environment. The proposed model achieved better predictive accuracy.

As few models are agreement based and others are relapsing based so it gets to be troublesome for the analyzer to settle on a choice. In this paper, a few models on agile methodology are being looked at on a few parameters, in order to check the disadvantages and also the advantages of the same furthermore to become acquainted with the distinctive estimating models.

Current air traffic control and air traffic management systems are already working near their capacity limit. To meet future requirements resulting from an increase in air traffic worldwide, the development of new air traffic management concepts and technologies is needed. Validation and evaluation is a major part during the development process of new systems in order to ensure their suitability for real operation conditions. Simulation is a commonly used approach for testing and evaluating new technologies. This paper presents a modular aviation simulation environment at the Institute of Flight Guidance of the Technische Universitaet Braunschweig. The environment comprises two aircraft cockpit simulators, an air traffic controller working position and an airport traffic simulator. It is primarily used for the development of future augmentation systems including new human machine interface technologies. A software development framework is introduced that simplifies the communication between individual simulation modules as well as the integration of applications. Moreover, the paper presents two software projects that were developed within the scope of research activities and integrated into the simulation environment using the software framework. The first project deals with a concept of the visual presentation of wake vortex hazard zones in flight to improve the flight crew's situational awareness. The second one describes an onboard airport navigation application supporting the pilots during ground movement operations on aerodrome surfaces.

In this era of dynamic technological phase shift, management and estimation of client's requirements in software project development has been established as one of the most crucial steps from the point of view of research. Ever changing user's environment make it more difficult to capture precise requirements and hinder successful software development process due to faulty capture leading to potentially live and abrupt threats. However, this situation can be averted by efficient management which tapers to the essence of this article. In this study, we have tried to narrow down to specific uncertainty types, their sources, relationships and their impact and finally getting down to the nitty-gritty in the form of a theoretical framework to manage the requirement uncertainty. This article also contributes in outlining good practices efficient handling of software project uncertainties and mitigating uncertainties through adequate methods and techniques. © 2021

In order to effectively avoid risks that might result in loss of failure in software development process, based on the experiences of software development and project management, this paper identifies 4 potential risk factors specific to software development projects which are integrated with 6 stages in software development process, and proposes a non-linear programming model to optimize funds allocation to reduce the risks. The paper provides an example to validate the effectiveness of the model.

The model is based on Neural Network technology to predict the early value of cost for software project development to overcome the problem of determining the unrealistic and overrun cost of the software projects, especially for project managers who need to determine the cost of the project at the early days of software development. software projects are failing for several decades due to multiple reasons. In this regard a lot of research has been done to investigate the reasons behind the failure. However, most of this research was executed in developed countries while under-developed and developing countries got little attention. The main objective of this study is to assess the impact of critical factors on the success of software projects for under-developed countries (like Pakistan), because enterprise environmental factors along with staff working habits, their experience and expertise level also have an impact on the success of a project. To accomplish this, a survey was conducted through the Pakistan software Export Board (PSEB), and logistic regression enquiry was executed to measure the relationship between various factors affecting software. The results reflect that improper planning along with wrong cost and time estimation are positively and significantly associated with software failure. Based on the finding of the survey, a model is proposed for intelligent decision support system (IDSs). The proposed model keeps track of the previous knowledge and behavior in a well-structured manner that might be helpful for project managers in the estimation and decision-making process of upcoming software projects. This research adds new knowledge from an under-developed country which will open new dimensions for the IT industry and project manager working under similar circumstances.
