The NTFS file system supports general usage of hard drives;but in some cases, it may be necessary to store large number of small files in this file system. In this context, small files are the files with size below the cluster size. This can be a problem because there will be a significant difference between the actual size of the file and the occupied disk storage size. Another problem is the high number of I/O operations during file processing. In this paper, we are looking for a solution to the problem of storing small files by grouping them together and store them as a single file or database instance. The examined methods were evaluated according to several criteria;and based on the Pareto dominance principle, we propose a generally good solution performing well for all metrics.
