Hydraulic engine mounts (HEMs) are important vibration isolation parts in vehicle powertrain mounting systems, and the structural parameters of HEMs are the main factors which determine their vibration isolation characteristics. It is of great significance to discover the influences of the structure parameters on their vibration isolation characteristics in the design and study of HEMs. Firstly, the vibration isolation characteristics of HEMs are analyzed theoretically using a simplified lumped parameter (LP) model. Secondly, the HEMs with different rubber materials, lengths and cross-sectional areas of the inertia tracks are designed and manufactured, and their frequency response characteristics are investigated by experimental and analytical methods. Finally, the influences of these structural parameters on the vibration isolation characteristics of HEMs are educed. The analytical methods and conclusions are instructive for the design and tuning of the vibration isolation characteristics of HEMs.

The objective of this study was to investigate the uniformity and penetration of surface modification into textile materials including fiber, yarn and fabric treated by atmospheric pressure plasma jet (APPJ). Exposure to helium/oxygen plasma at atmospheric pressure made improvement in the wettability, dyeability, adhesion of single fiber, yarn and woven fabric. The results showed that such a plasma jet was possible and effective in penetration of surface modification into textile structure. It can treat the whole surfaces of a single fiber, yarn filament in the treated parallel filament tow uniformly. For porous fabrics, rapid and efficient treatment on both sides of the treated samples was found to be ensured. And the degree and depth of penetration depended on the penetration of active species in plasma jet, which was affected by plasma parameters and materials structure. The former included treatment time, power, gas temperature, jet-to-substrate distance. The latter included number of twisting and fabric pore size. These findings would have important effects on industrialization of textiles treated by atmospheric pressure plasma jet.

Determination of design parameter for three-product heavy-medium cyclone

Analyzed the selected raw coal nature and forecasted the number quality of its separated product. Considering each product＇s density, volume, and suspending liquid assignment, combining the separating mechanism of the cyclone and the rela- tive formulas obtained from scientific experimentation and practice, the structure parameter was determined by calculation. This provides a more scientific reasonable method for determining the structure parameter of the unpressurized feeding three-product heavy-medium cyclone.

The FAD3000/50 safety valve is researched that is newly developed by Zhengzhou Coal Mining Machinery Group Co., Ltd with high water-based pressure ultra great current capacity. The mathematical model is fistly established according to the study of its structure and the practical system on hydraulic support. The simulation computation has carried under the MATLAB software, and this simulation model has confirmed through the test result. After a comparison of multiple sets of simulation results, the influence of primary structure parameter's change in safety valve to dynamic characteristics is gived.

Study on conductivity property and microstructure of TritonX-100/alkanol/n-heptane/water microemulsion

The validity of percolation theories on TritonX-100/heptane/alkanol/water W/O (water-in-oil) microemulsion has been investigated based on conductivity analysis The experiment results have proved that the microemulsion follows both Bernasconi-Weismann (BW) and effective medium theory with dipole-dipole interaction (EMTDD, clusters) theories in the water content range from W-0 = 1 to W-0 = 7. The results here are different from the reported microemulsions with CTAB. AOT or SDS as ionic surfactant and alkanols as cosurfactants, and those microemulsions always follow effective medium theory (EMT) perfectly This suggests that nonspherical surfactant aggregates and droplet clusters exist in the microemulsion solution due to the dipolar interaction between the dispersed droplets The size of water pool, the hydrodynamic diameter of droplet, and the number of surfactant and cosurfactant per droplet have been evaluated according to the two validated theories The dynamic state and the calculated size distribution of droplets are agreed with the results detected by dynamic light scattering technique The research has indicated that the percolation theories are also adaptable to nonionic surfactant microemulsions with low water content and the structure parameters of droplets can be calculated by the effective theories (C) 2010 Elsevier B.V All rights reserved.

Study and modeling of the separation characteristics of a novel alkali-stable NF membrane

In this study, we used several methods to examine the membrane structure of a kind of alkali-stable nanofiltration membrane, as well as the effect of pH on its permeability, retention, and structure. A novel alkali-stable nanofiltration membrane was studied. Its retention and flux behavior could be related to its charge, its swelling properties and its pore size distribution. The filtration performed was of uncharged glucose, salt solutions, and caustic sodium solution. A novel artificial neural network-based model was generated to simulate the permeate flux and retention behaviors. Our experimental data were compared with the model outputs. A Spiegler-Kedem model was also examined in this study. Our results showed that the membrane pore diameter was about 0.36 nm, and had a negative surface charge. In addition, the membrane opened significantly at high pH, a finding which can be attributed to the chemical nature of the polymer chains in the membrane skin layer. The correlation factor of the artificial neural network model was 0.9918, which was a little higher than that of Spiegler-Kedem model, indicating that both models are suitable to predict this membrane system.

Loss of stability, characteristic length, and Novozhilov-Neuber criterion in fracture mechanics

The present paper presents a summary of results in fracture mechanics obtained using the fundamental propositions put forward by V. V. Novozhilov in 1969. Namely, fracture is treated as loss of stability, the role of a structural parameter having the dimension of length is emphasized, and the importance of the Novozhilov-Neuber force criterion is stressed;this criterion allows obtaining simple and far-reaching generalizations. The main attention is paid to the results obtained by the author either in collaboration with Professor Novozhilov or as a result of close communication with him for almost two decades. The force treatment of the strict stability condition, which implies using a linear softening in the crack tip region, and the estimate of the maximal speed of crack propagation, based on a structural-time criterion, are performed for the first time.

A relatively simple optical method based on Seidel aberration theory was presented for the design of mechanically compensated infrared reflective zoom systems with 4 mirrors. This research includes the study of image formation rules by a single mirror, the concept of the mechanical compensation method in zoom systems, and the derivation of analytical formulae for the Seidel aberration coefficients. The advantage of this method is that it allows the designer to achieve the initial structure parameters of the optical system (radii of curvature and separations between mirrors, etc.) by solving a set of Seidel aberration coefficient functions. Two design examples of 4-mirror zoom systems were given. The results show that the proposed method is feasible in the design of infrared reflective zoom systems with large zoom ratios.
