A synchronization Scheme Based on Moving Average for Robust Audio Watermarking

The synchronization scheme based on moving average is robust and suitable for the same rule to be adopted in embedding watermark and synchronization code, but the imperceptibility and search efficiency is seldom reported. The study aims to improve the original scheme for robust audio watermarking. Firstly, the survival of the algorithm from desynchronization attacks is improved. Secondly, the scheme is improved in inaudibility. Objective difference grade (ODG) of the marked audio is significantly changed. Thirdly, the imperceptibility of the scheme is analyzed and the derived result is close to experimental result. Fourthly, the selection of parameters is optimized based on experimental data. Fifthly, the search efficiency of the scheme is compared with those of other synchronization code schemes. The experimental results show that the proposed watermarking scheme allows the high audio quality and is robust to common attacks such as additive white Gaussian noise, requantization, resampling, low-pass filtering, random cropping, MP3 compression, jitter attack, and time scale modification. Moreover, the algorithm has the high search efficiency and low false alarm rate.

It is a challenging work to design a robust audio watermarking scheme against various attacks. Moments and moment invariants have become a powerful tool in robust audio watermarking owing to their description capability and invariance property. Exponent moments (EMs) is a new kind of orthogonal moment defined on the circular domain. EMs has a better reconstruction, lower noise sensitivity, lower computational complexity, and excellent invariant property. Based on invariant exponent moments and synchronization code technique, a new and robust audio watermarking method with good auditory quality and reasonable resistance against most attacks is proposed in this paper. Specifically, the watermark data is efficiently inserted in host audio by taking advantage of both invariant EMs and quantization index modulation (QIM). EMs magnitude is robust to common signal processing operations, and QIM can render watermarking scheme blind in nature. To resist against desynchronization attack, the synchronization code technique is also integrated into our invariant EMs based audio watermarking method. Compared with the typical and related audio watermarking schemes, the proposed method is more robust to most attacks and has higher imperceptibility. Digital watermarking has been discussed in the literature for decades. In business perspective, it is important as a potential method for copy right protection, proof of ownership broadcast monitoring etc. In academic perspective, it is an interesting research problem. Audio watermarking is the most challenging of all as Human Auditory System is sensitive to even a very small change to the original audio. Other than imperceptibility of the signal, capacity and robustness are important too. Empirical mode decomposition is the latest revolutionary concept in audio watermarking. In this paper we present a robust audio watermarking scheme which ensures imperceptibility, robustness and high payload capacity. To prevent un-authorized third parties from removing the watermark, we make use of Tinkerbell chaotic map to generate random secret keys and watermark is embedded following the keys. Multiple keys are used to ensure efficient distribution of the watermark to prevent cropping attacks and enable watermark correction and synchronization with receiver. The experimental results show that the method is robust against re-sampling, cropping, re-quantization, AWGN attacks.

Pseudo-zernike moments-based audio content authentication algorithm robust against feature-analysed substitution attack

Content-based audio content authentication algorithms provide a method to solve the veracity and integrity of audio content. On the basic of pseudo-Zernike moments, an audio content authentication algorithm robust against feature-analysed substitution attack is proposed, which is aimed at some insecure issues in the existing content-based audio content authentication schemes. Firstly, the audio signal is cut into non-overlapping frames and each frame is divided into two segments, and each segment is scrambled. Then, synchronization codes generated by pseudo random sequence and watermark bits generated by pseudo-Zernike moments are embedded in the first and second segment, respectively, which are completed by quantizing the modulus of pseudo-Zernike moments. The scrambled segments used to generate and extract watermark are unknown to attackers. So, it is difficult for attackers to get the watermark generated and extracted to perform feature-analysed substitution attack. The synchronization code and watermark embedding method proposed is inaudible and has excellent ability to tolerance against common signal processing operations. Compared with the existing audio watermark algorithms based on pseudo-Zernike moments, the algorithm increases the embedding capacity and improves the security of the watermarking system.

The development of a desynchronization invariant audio watermarking scheme without degrading acoustical quality is a challenging work. This paper proposes a robust audio watermarking scheme in Empirical Mode Decomposition (EMD) domain, in which the higher-order statistics and synchronization code are utilized. Firstly, the wavelet de-noising is performed on the original host audio, the de-noised digital audio is segmented, and then each segment is cut into two parts. Secondly, with the spatial watermarking technique, synchronization code is embedded into the statistics average value of audio samples in the first part. Thirdly, for the second part, EMD is performed, and a series of Intrinsic Mode Functions (IMFs) and a residual are given, and thenthe higher-order statistics of residual are obtained by using the Hausdorff distance. Finally, the digital watermark is embedded into the residual in EMD domain by using the higher-order statistics. Simulation results show that the proposed watermarking scheme is not only inaudible and robust against common signal processing operations such as MP3 compression, noise addition, resampling, and re-quantization etc, but also robust against the desynchronization attacks such as random cropping, amplitude variation, pitch shifting, and jittering etc.

In this paper a new adaptive audio watermarking algorithm based on Empirical Mode Decomposition (EMD) is introduced. The audio signal is divided into frames and each one is decomposed adaptively, by EMD, into intrinsic oscillatory components called Intrinsic Mode Functions (IMFs). The watermark and the synchronization codes are embedded into the extrema of the last IMF, a low frequency mode stable under different attacks and preserving audio perceptual quality of the host signal. The data embedding rate of the proposed algorithm is 46.9-50.3 b/s. Relying on exhaustive simulations, we show the robustness of the hidden watermark for additive noise, MP3 compression, re-quantization, filtering, cropping and resampling. The comparison analysis shows that our method has better performance than watermarking schemes reported recently.

This paper proposed an audio watermark algorithm with synchronization in wavelet domain based on support vector machine. The synchronization code and encrypted digital watermark are embedded into the low frequency coefficients in DWT domain by using quantization modulation, the image watermark and the synchronization code are extracted through SVM possessing two-class problem. The experimental results show that the audio watermarking scheme is inaudible, but also robust against noise adding, filtering, random cropping attacks.

It is a challenging work to design a robust audio watermarking scheme against various attacks. Wavelet moment invariances are new features combining the moment invariant features and the wavelet features, and they have some excellent characteristics, such as the ability to capture local information, robustness against common signal processing, and the linear relationship between a signal and its wavelet moments etc. Based on wavelet moment and synchronization code, we propose a new digital audio watermarking algorithm with good auditory quality and reasonable resistance against most attacks in this paper. Firstly, the origin digital audio is segmented and then each segment is cut into two parts. Secondly, with the spatial watermarking technique, synchronization code is embedded into the statistics average value of audio samples in the first part. And then, map 1D digital audio signal in the second part into 2D form, and calculate its wavelet moments. Finally, the watermark bit is embedded into the average value of modulus of the low-order wavelet moments. Meanwhile combining the two adjacent synchronization code searching technology, the algorithm can extract the watermark without the help from the origin digital audio signal. Simulation results show that the proposed watermarking scheme is not only inaudible and robust against common signals processing such as MP3 compression, noise addition, resampling, and re-quantization etc., but also robust against the desynchronization attacks such as random cropping, amplitude variation, pitch shifting, and jittering etc. (C) 2011 Elsevier Inc. An adaptive audio watermarking based on the singular value decomposition in the wavelet domain

This paper presents a secure, robust, and blind adaptive audio watermarking algorithm based on singular value decomposition (SVD) in the discrete wavelet transform domain using synchronization code. In our algorithm, a watermark is embedded by applying a quantization-index-modulation process on the singular values in the SVD of the wavelet domain blocks. The watermarked signal is perceptually similar to the original audio signal and gives high quality output. Experimental results show that the hidden watermark data is robust to additive noise, resampling, low-pass filtering, requantization. MP3 compression, cropping, echo addition, and denoising. Performance analysis of the proposed scheme shows low error probability rates. The data embedding rate of the proposed scheme is 45.9 bps. The proposed scheme has high payload and superior performance against MP3 compression compared to the earlier audio watermarking schemes. (C) 2010 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
