The lithium-ion batteries,with their excellent performance,have been widely used in electric vehicles and hybrid electric *** an indispensable part of most electric vehicles and hybrid electric vehicles,the battery management system is designed to provide monitoring,diagnosis,control and protecting functions to enhance the operation of the battery *** and more attentions have been paid to lithium-ion battery management technology in recent *** present paper,through the analysis of literatures and in combination with our practical work,gives a brief introduction to the key technologies in battery management system such as lithium-ion battery performance modeling,theory and methods of estimation of the state-of-charge,state-of-energy,state-of-power and state-ofhealth,and other techniques for equalization,charging and fault diagnoses,in hopes of providing some inspirations to the research of the lithium-ion battery management.

A state reduction approach to interpretation of system behavior based on system simulation

system modeling and simulation techniques have been introduced to the early stage of model-based design in product development. Given a description of a system in terms of system components and connections, these techniques compute its numerical behavior by building and solving an equation system derived from the topology of system components. Currently, these techniques have a limitation in supporting designers to interpret the overall behavior of a system in terms of semantics rather than numerical values. To overcome the limitation, the paper briefly introduces a semi-automated procedure to support designers to validate a product model with system simulation results. The procedure reduces the dynamic state of a system by clustering the behavior of system components in terms of their parameters at discrete time intervals. It also generates the overall system behavior by computing clustering patterns and its transitions and identity relations across intervals in the entire simulation duration.

Squeezed states of light have numerous potential applications ranging from gravitational wave detection, quantum teleportation, quantum cryptography and quantum communication. They are generated using an optical squeezer and possess the desirable property of having less noise in one quadrature than dictated by the quantum noise limit (QNL). In this paper, we model the nonlinear optical process by which squeezed light is generated in a classical framework and analyze its steady-state behavior from a control theoretic perspective. In particular, through computer simulation, we provide a visual perspective of the effect of the steady-state operating point of the optical squeezer on the type of squeezed states of light generated. The study aims to reduce the incidence of central line associated bloodstream infections (CLABSI). We design a computer model that comprises the entire process of central line insertion and maintenance. The model attempts to capture all major events in patient care from entrance to the hospital through the time at which the central line is ultimately removed. CLABSI data is analyzed to identify areas of potential increased risk of patient death from CLABSI. Specifically, we attempt to predict death among patients affected with CLABSI while minimizing Type II (false negative) error. By crafting the model to prioritize against this type of error, and thus identifying patients most likely to die, providers will have the best chance of intervening to reduce CLABSI-related deaths. The study led to implementation of reminders and protocols that result in a reduction of 18% of CLABSI over a period of 12 months. The predictive analysis identifies high-risk individuals to allow for proper intervention to prevent CLABSI-related deaths.

Full system simulation is a developing methodology that aids to find the optimized configurations of system design. Huge amount of data is collected to better characterize the performance of the system. This process requires both accuracy and speed. Cycle-accurate modeling is precise but time and resource consuming. Higher abstraction level of modeling, such as transaction-level modeling, trades accuracy for speed. We propose a novel approach called "Effective-cycle Selection" to reduce redundant check of command scheduler in memory controller without affecting the functionality. Redundant checks occur in the cycles in which no command would be issued by the command scheduler. By predicting effective cycles, the proposed method diminishes redundancy and speed up simulation by up to 40% in multi-program real workloads, while introducing zero error in simulation compared to the cycle-based simulator. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first research work which leverages the redundancy of memory command scheduling to accelerate simulation.

Reduction of energy consumption is important for reaching a sustainable future. This paper presents a novel method for optimizing the energy consumption of robotic manufacturing systems. The method embeds detailed evaluations of robots' energy consumptions into a scheduling model of the overall system. The energy consumption for each operation is modeled and parameterized as function of the operation execution time, and the energy-optimal schedule is derived by solving a mixed-integer nonlinear programming problem. The objective function for the optimization problem is then the total energy consumption for the overall system. A case study of a sample robotic manufacturing system and an experiment on an industrial robot are presented. They show that there exists a real possibility for a significant reduction of the energy consumption in comparison to state-of-the-art scheduling approaches. Note to Practitioners-The motivation for this work is the great interest of companies on energy consumption optimization, looking for cost reduction and sustainability in manufacturing. Existing optimization methods focus on different levels of details. A high-level model would be able to optimize the overall system. Unfortunately, due to the high computational cost, it can hardly consider the deep level of mechanical and electrical parameters, which determine the real energy consumption. This paper presents a novel method to embed detailed energy consumption models into a scheduling optimization problem. An effective parameterization of the time variables reduces the model complexity, allowing the optimizer to reschedule the complete sequence of operations for minimizing the total energy consumption, while keeping a fixed cycle time. The method has been integrated into a commercial tool for robot programming. Control-Oriented modeling of an Automotive Thermal Management system

The design of control strategies for advanced powertrains and related thermal management systems requires the development of models to characterize their steady-state and transient behavior. Such models have to be simple enough to allow for control design, however complex and accurate enough to capture the relevant dynamics. This work presents a lumped-parameter model of an advanced engine thermal management system, whose objective is to characterize steady-state and dynamic system behavior for system analysis, optimization and control design. The system was modeled starting from individual components, namely the engine block thermal dynamics, radiator, thermostat, engine oil heater/cooler, transmission oil heater, and cabin heater core. Each model was calibrated on steady-state components data, and the complete thermal system model was then validated on a drive cycle conducted on a test vehicle, comparing the coolant and engine oil temperature traces during the warm-up phase. The results obtained show the model ability to accurately track the warm-up dynamics of the fluids with real-time computational capabilities, hence suggesting potential applications to system analysis and optimization for control design.
