Dynamic partner selection in Cloud Federation for ensuring the quality of service for cloud consumers

Cloud Computing has become the popular paradigm for accessing the various scalable and on-demand computing services over the ***,individual Cloud Service Providers(CSPs)offering specialized services to the customers collaborate to form the Cloud Federation,in order to reap the real benefits of Cloud *** collaboration,the member CSPs of the federation achieve better resource utilization and Quality of Service(QoS),thereby increasing their business *** a CSP runs out of resources in the Cloud Federation,in order to offload the customer requests for resources to other CSP(s),identifying a suitable partner is a challenging task due to the lack of global coordination among *** this paper,we propose the design and implementation of an efficient partner selection mechanism in the Cloud Federation,using the Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP)and the technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution(TOPSIS)methods,and also considering the trust values of various CSPs in the *** AHP method is used to calculate the weights of the QoS parameters used in the TOPSIS method which is used to rank the various CSPs in the Cloud Federation according to the user *** results show the effectiveness of this approach in order to efficiently select the trustworthy partners in large scale federations to ensure the required QoS to the cloud consumers.

Application in environmental art design practice based on a fuzzy evaluation system

Environmental art design (EAD) has recently encouraged creative thinking by investigating novel materials, technologies, and techniques for designing environmental art that advances sustainability. EAD faces challenges in integrating novel materials and technologies while promoting sustainability. Environmental art design is targeted at human living areas;here, adequate and excessive utilization of resources is minimized, and the social and natural environments are utilized aesthetically. Aesthetic excellence in environmental art design, along with growing technological accomplishments and cultural heritage, is concentrated on meeting the demands of human aesthetic pursuits in the new era, which lacks earlier techniques. Hence, an algorithm named environmental art design using fuzzy (EADF) to evaluate the environmental criteria for better decision-making is introduced. Initially, a fuzzy-based technique for order preference similar to the ideal solution (FTOPSIS), which considers multiple variables such as visual appeal, environmental impact, sustainability, and audience involvement in the community, was employed in the design process. Environmental art designers utilize fuzzy TOPSIS to assess works of art using several criteria. It seeks to make accurate decisions and accomplish desirable creative effects by considering ambiguity and subjectivity. The approach utilizes fuzzy variable entropy analysis to determine questionable attribute weightings and employs triangular fuzzy numbers to represent criteria and analyze preference values. Artworks are evaluated for deviation from ideal results using the Euclidean distance measure, enabling logical ranking evaluation and comparison. The EADF model outperforms the other models when considering different input factors. EADF excels in color (83.74), composition (82.37), emotion (85.61), contrast (97.52), clarity (98.16), harmony (95.49), and sensitivity (96.44) when evaluated in environmental art design, showcasing its use

Investments in energy projects require careful consideration, since inappropriate decisions can lead investors towaste finances, time and other resources. This paper will present the position that decisions for energy projects should be made after considerable, thoughtful and appropriate decision research and analyses. Due to the different aspects related to investment decisions in energy projects, using multi-criteria decision-making approaches is deemed to be a sensible approach to better ensure an appropriate course of action. In this study, the decision regarding location of a solar power plant, a critical issue pertaining to solar energy investments, is considered. Since solar power plant location decisions consist of conflicting criteria and varying possible locations, the solar power plant location problem is considered in this study. The main aim of this study is to propose a decision-making approach for solar power plant location problem which is integrating "Analytic Hierarchy Process" and "technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution" methods under hesitant fuzzy environment. The applicability of the proposed approach is then tested on a case study. Besides the innovative contributions to industry literature, the results of the case study demonstrate that the proposed approach is applicable for the challenge of determining plant locations.

In this paper, a technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS)-based linear programming (LP) approach is developed for determining optimal quantities of renewable energy sources according to the source's potential compared with other renewable energy alternatives. A combined model is established with the forecasting model, TOPSIS, and LP methods to determine optimal results. The developed decision support approach's applicability is illustrated in this paper. The paper illustrates how renewable energy sources can be preferred to meet additional energy demand in the next five years in Turkey using the developed TOPSIS integrated LP model. For this objective, a time series analysis is applied to estimate production capacity for the constraints of the mathematical model. Then, a question is answered how much energy should be produced from which alternative for each year? A flexible structured mathematical model is developed to meet the necessary energy requirements in dynamic and variable economic systems. So, the decision-maker can assign different criteria weights in the TOPSIS model, which is integrated with LP, and obtain new optimal solutions related to requirements in the future.

A group decision making support system in logistics and supply chain management

Purpose: The paper proposes a decision support system for selecting logistics providers based on the quality function deployment (QFD) and the technique for order preference by the similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS) for agricultural supply chain in France. The research provides a platform for group decision making to facilitate decision process and check the consistency of the outcomes. Methodology: The proposed model looks at the decision problem from two points of view considering both technical and customer perspectives. The main customer criteria are confidence in a safe and durable product, emission of pollutants and hazardous materials, social responsibility, etc. The main technical factors are financial stability, quality, delivery condition, services, etc. based on the literature review. The second stage in the adopted methodology is the combination of quality function deployment and the technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution to effectively analyze the decision problem. In final section we structure a group decision system called GRoUp System (GRUS) which has been developed by Institut de Recherche en Informatique de Toulouse (IRIT) in the Toulouse University. Results: This paper designs a group decision making system to interface decision makers and customer values in order to aid agricultural partners and investors in the selection of third party logistic providers. Moreover, we have figured out a decision support system under fuzzy linguistic variables is able to assist agricultural parties in uncertain situations. This integrated and efficient decision support system enhances quality and reliability of the decision making. Novelty/Originality: The novelty of this paper is reflected by several items. Numerical and experimental studies on sustainable alkali activated concretes at elevated temperatures

PurposeTo reduce environmental impact caused by excessive use of ordinary Portland cement (OPC) and to mitigate scarcity of base materials such as natural coarse aggregate (NCA), industrial by-products can be carefully used as alternatives to OPC and NCA, in production of concrete. This paper aims to describe the performance of using ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBS), fly ash (FA) as a complete replacement to OPC and ferrochrome slag (FCS) as replacement to NCA in production of novel FCS based alkali activated slag/fly ash concretes (AASFC) and evaluate their performance at elevated ***/methodology/approachTwo control factors with three levels each i.e. FA (0, 25 and 50 per cent by weight) and FCS (0, 50 and 100 per cent by volume) as a GGBS and NCA replacement, respectively, were adopted in AASFC mixtures. Further, AASFC mixture specimens were subjected to different levels of elevated temperature, i.e. 200 degrees C, 400 degrees C, 600 degrees C and 800 degrees C. Compressive strength and residual compressive strength were considered as responses. Three different optimization techniques i.e. gray relational analysis, technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution and Desirability function approach were used to optimize AASFC mixtures subjected to elevated *** FA replacement increases in FCS based AASFC mixtures, workability increases and compressive strength decreases. The introduction of FCS as replacement to NCA in AASFC mixture did not show any significant change in compressive strength under ambient condition. In this paper, demand response (DR) is modeled based on price elasticity and customer benefit function. A comprehensive decision model for DR based on Multiple Attribute Decision Making (MADM) techniques is proposed to extract the priorities of DR programs and select the most effective program. The proposed model includes the determination of attribute set, calculation of attribute weight and comprehensive evaluation of the alternatives. As for the attribute set, two new attributes, namely the electricity consumption manner satisfaction index and electricity cost expenditure satisfaction index, are introduced to consider customer's satisfaction. Besides, a combination weighting method is adopted to determine the weights of attributes. To prioritize DR programs, a new sorting method which combines technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS) with Gray Correlation Analysis (GCA) is proposed to overcome the decision bias due to the limited information in the decision approach. The performance of the proposed decision model is evaluated on a modified IEEE 118-bus system.

The selection of raw material supplier is a multifaceted issue relating multi-criteria under fuzzy environment. For Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), they do not have their own engaged suppliers and certainty budgets;therefore, it is quite difficult to find the optimal raw material suppliers on multi-periods. Recently, there has been extremely little research work in the area of vender selection based on time axis. However, there has not been any research study for considering about the problem of selecting of raw material supplier accordingly to time series for SMEs. To overcome this problem, Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS) methods are integrated in this paper, which is a novel approach for solving the problem of both qualitative and quantitative criteria of selecting raw material supplier. The Fuzzy AHP algorithm is able to handle the ambiguity and uncertainty of criteria. The extension of TOPSIS algorithm is applied to rank the supplier alternatives. The main purpose of this paper is to enhance the selection potentiality for SMEs that lack of their own engaged suppliers and certainty budgets for choosing the proper raw material suppliers based on multi-period planning horizon. For dynamic economics changing, this method is able to help the prediction of the raw material budget effectively for the next period after getting the optimal supplier for each period. This paper presents a successful application of Fuzzy AHP-TOPSIS to a real raw material supplier selection of SME in Thailand.

Reverse supply chain logistics, means mobility of goods from end consumers towards core manufacturer in the channel of product distribution. In the turbulent business environment, the companies must promote alternative uses of resources that may be cost-effective and ecology friendly by extending products' routine life cycles. Reveres logistics activities i.e. storing, transporting and handling of used products poses a great challenge to reverse logistics managers as there is always chances of uncertainty in terms of quantity, quality and timing of return of EOL products in case of reverse supply chains. Business organizations including those of white/electronics goods manufacturing industries would like to focus on their core competency areas and there is need of making outsourcing decisions of their reverse logistics process to Third-Party reverse Logistics Providers (3PRLPs). Thus, most important strategic issue for top management is the evaluation and selection of third party logistics service provider who can effectively provide reverse logistics operation services to the firms. The objective of this work is to develop decision support system to assist the top management of the company in selection and evaluation of different 3PRL service providers by hybrid approach using Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) and technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS) method. A real life case study of a mobile phone manufacturing company is presented to demonstrate the steps of the decision support system. Present study also enables the logistics managers to better understand the complex relationships of the key attributes in the decision making environment and subsequently improve the reliability of the decision making process.

A combined AHP and TOPSIS approach for prioritizing the attributes for successful implementation of agile manufacturing

Purpose The concept of agile manufacturing is becoming critically important to manufacturing industry due to rapid industrialization, fluctuating customer demand, and turbulent business environment. The aim of this study is to prioritize the attributes for successful implementation of agile manufacturing using a combined analytical hierarchy process (AHP) and technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS) approach in Indian manufacturing industry. Design/methodology/approach The current study identifies eight agile manufacturing attributes through literature review and discussion with subject experts. The experts from different manufacturing industry have been asked to provide data for pairwise comparison of attributes. Afterward, an integrated AHP and TOPSIS approach is employed. The AHP is used to drive the priority weights of the attributes, and TOPSIS is used for prioritizing the attributes for successful implementation of agile manufacturing. Findings "Information technology," "human resource management-related issues," "customer-related issues," "leadership support," and "organizationalc related-issues" have been ranked as the top five significant and contributing attributes, which can pave the path for top management to concentrate on the critical areas and allocate significant resources to ensure successful implementation of agile manufacturing. Originality/value This research integrates AHP and TOPSIS to prioritize the attributes for successful implementation of agile manufacturing, which are further validated by comparing the ranks obtained through respective approach and sensitivity analysis.
