This study implements a hybrid cuckoo search and patternsearchalgorithm (hcsa-ps) for PID controller design for load frequency regulation of a single area islanded microgrid. The single area system taken into account in this study is a combination of Photovoltaic (PV), wind turbine (WT), fuel cell (FC), Diesel engine generator (DEG), microturbine generator (MTG), Battery energy storage (BES), fuel cell energy storage (FES). Due to the dependency of PV and WTG on environmental condition the system nominal operation gets deviates. Inspired from this issue here a legend hcsa-ps based PID controller is designed and it is compared with conventional I and PI controller to evidence its supremacy. The proposed hcsa-ps algorithm is also compared to GA, PSO, CSA algorithm.
