The education system continues to evolve from Education 1.0 to Education 4.0. Currently, education has reached the Education 4.0 stage. Education 4.0 requires technological commitment. Learning processes focus on students, not the teacher as in the previous educational system. Learning processes involve other stakeholders such as the industries, the communities, the experts, or the government. Smart Hybrid Learning Method is a learning method that responds to the Education 4.0 system, which is possible to create collaboration among stakeholders. The purpose of this research is to produce a model of Smart Hybrid Learning Method and architectural framework design of Smart Hybrid Learning System using three-layer architecture approach. The Smart Hybrid Learning Method is the evolution of the flipped or inverted classroom method combined with several other learning method approaches, such as Challenge Based Learning and Case Based Learning. Learning can be done inside and outside the classroom. To apply the Smart Hybrid Learning Method, it needs system called Smart Hybrid Learning System, which can be accessed by several stakeholders. The use of three-layer architecture will create flexibility to function and layer in the system.

Internet-based remote supervision of industrial processes using self-organizing maps

In upcoming years, the strategies for maintenance, traceability, management and operation of productive processes will demand the use of novel information and communication technologies. Supervisory systems in these new scenarios will have to be able to integrate large volumes of information and knowledge coming both from local and remote points of large processes. These systems will therefore require new tools for management and integration of information and knowledge. In this work, the authors present an internet-based remote supervision system of industrial processes that incorporates powerful data and knowledge visualization tools based on self-organizing maps (SOM). This architecture adds an intermediate layer (database) to the well-known client and server layers, that isolates the client part from the industrial process, allowing to incorporate the required data management and neural network processing tasks. Remote users have access to advanced information visualization tools based on SOM, including both static visualizations, such as component planes or distance maps, and dynamical ones, such as residuals and state trajectory, allowing the interpretation of knowledge extracted by the SOM as well as the analysis and detection of possible abnormal conditions. This architecture has been validated through the supervision of an industrial pilot plant. (C) 2006 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Optimizing the QoS of ultra high and High Speed Moving Terminals in satellite-aided cellular networks

This paper presents a new channel assignment technique based on a three-layer cellular architecture which optimizes the QoS of Ultra High-Speed (UHSMT) and High-Speed Moving Terminals (HSMT) in a congested urban area. The lower layer of the proposed architecture is based on a microcellular solution, for absorbing the traffic loads of Low Speed Moving Terminals (LSMT). The second layer is based on a macro-cell umbrella solution, for absorbing the traffic load of the HSMT. The higher layer is based on satellite cell and absorbs the traffic load of UHSMT. The results show that assigning the optimum number of channels in every layer, the QoS of UHSMT and HSMT are optimized, having a small bad effect on the QoS of LSMT.

SOA is a service-oriented software architecture model, and it can support the transformation of geographic information software from "system and function" to "service and application". This paper first analyzes the connotation, model structure and main features of SOA, then proposes the basic frame and service process of geographical information service based on SOA, and finally takes the "Yellow River's Basic Information System" for an example to verify the strategies, methods and effects of the geographical information service based on SOA.

After deeply analyzing the applications, current development and existing problems of the police-using GIS, according to the requirement of Dalian City Public Security Bureau this paper presents a Police Geographic Information System which was developed by the MapGIS 7.3 platform. The system was designed by three-layer architecture and adopted the Dijkstra based on genetic algorithm to solve the shortest path problem. Through using this system can provide the statistics and analysis for the police-using data to improve the use efficiency.

Various situations of mobile platform navigation controls require a collaboration between a human agent and autonomous navigation modules. This work presents a new approach for collaborative control between such two agents, based upon a three-layer architecture. An arbitration scheme is proposed in the deliberative layer as well as a collaborative planning method for trajectory following based upon optimal control theory in the sequencer layer. The collaborative control signal in the execution layer is a weighted summation of each agent control signal. This collaborative architecture could be used for the shared control of vehicles such as motorized wheelchairs. Experimental results illustrate the efficiency of the proposed control architecture.

Contingency plans is growing in quantity and gains higher quality in recent years. Contingency plan management has become a public service and affects our society. In this paper, we proposed a formal model of contingency plans and designed the three-layer architecture of the contingency plan management system. First, we give the formal representation of basic attributes, contents and the task model respectively. We have three layer in proposed contingency plan management system. The storage layer is designed to adapt to various types of data, such as XML and relational. The formal-model layer provides interfaces for accessing contingency plans based on formal representation. The application layer use the interfaces for different applications.
