In order to reduce the memory requirements of the video applications, we present a lossy Bayer image compression pipeline performed better set-partitioning in hierarchical trees (SPIHT) coding as the core of the original data compression algorithm. The proposed method encodes and decodes images available in the CFA format. After finishing the image coding stage, a demosaicking stage often follows to produce a full color image. Simulation results in this paper show that: pipelines which employ a SPIHT coding scheme achieve significant compression performance improvements and relatively low artifacts compared to similar processing pipelines equipped with a JPEG coder.

In this paper, we propose a novel video similarity measure model using video time density function (VTDF) and dynamic programming. First, we employ VTDF to describe the density of video activities in time domain by calculating the inter-frame mutual information. Second, a temporal partition solution is applied to divide each video sequence into equi-sized temporal segments. Third, a new VTDF based similarity measure using correlation is calculated to measure the similarity between two temporal segments. Fourth, dynamic programming is then developed to find the optimal non-linear mapping between two video sequences. A new normalized similarity measure function combing both visual characteristics and temporal information together is to evaluate the semantic similarity of two video sequences. Experimental results show that the proposed measurement model is effective to explore the semantic similarity of video sequences.

With the development of three dimensional media resources, the corresponding intellectual property protection problem also occurs. In this paper, a blind stereoscopic image watermarking algorithm based on the relationship modulation is proposed. Firstly, the original stereoscopic images are divided into non-overlapping blocks respectively, and the polarity of these blocks in left and right images are defined. Secondly, the watermark is embedded by modulating the relationship between watermark and the polarity of the divided blocks. When the binary watermark is "1", the polarity of the corresponding image block is changed in order to make that the polarity of left image block is the same as the right one. On the contrary, the polarity of left image block is set to be not the same as the right one. The binary watermark is extracted by judging polarity which is consistent or not from the watermarked images without the original images. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm is robust against some general image processing operations.

MPEG has recently released a first public draft of the new Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP (DASH) specification. The new streaming technique is based on the 3GPP and partly also on the Open IPTV Forum (OIPF) specifications. In this paper, we give an overview about the new DASH specification with a special focus on Live streaming services. In order to re-use existing web content distribution schemes, the new streaming technique provides the live stream as a sequence of files, which are continuously downloaded by the streaming client. This way of streaming introduces new delay components into the system streaming. Live Streaming technology is often used for events like sport events to allow other users to virtually participate. It is generally preferred to minimize the end-to-end delay for live services. In the paper, we identify and analyze the different delay components of the new adaptive HTTP streaming technique and how they contribute to the end-to-end delay of live services. We also discuss the dependencies and system implications when minimizing the end to end delay. The evaluation principles are also applicable for other adaptive HTTP streaming formats.

In this paper, an efficient 2D shape matching algorithm is proposed. The proposed algorithm uses the mean distances and standard deviations of shape contexts as the index of shapes to reduce the search space of the previous work on shape matching with shape context descriptor. The best-fit ellipse modeling is adopted as the preprocessing for normalizing its scale. The simulation databases include human body postures and shapes of 3D objects from MPEG-7 silhouettes, and the COIL data set, respectively. Experimental results show that the recognition rates are 98% for human body postures and 100% for shapes of 3D objects.

It encodes the data with jpeg2000 algorithm and improve on partial data loss when the signal data are transformed to 2-dimension. The algorithm contains: QRS detection, signal pre-estimate and classification, 2-dimension conversion, signal compression encoding, signal rebuilding and algorithm evaluation. Compare with universal evaluation criterion of ECG algorithm items, its performance is better than others and keep most information for diagnosis.

In this paper, an AVS-embedded multi-format video decoder is presented. It integrates AVS JP@L6.2, H.264 HP@L4.2, VC-1 AP@L3, and MPEG-2 MP@HL in a single chip and features resources sharing, memory management, and early-stage acqusition to facilitate cost and bandwidth efficiency. For the applications of broadcasting, an adaptive error concealment method is proposed. A chip is fabricated and integrates 415K logic gates and 682Kbits embeded SRAM in 65nm single-poly seven-metal CMOS process with area of 2.47mm 2 . AVS video decoding of full 1920×1088 high-definition sequences at 60 frames per second is achieved at 166MHz clock frequency with power dissipation of 41.3mW at 1.0V supply voltage.

In this paper, we propose a statistical test to discriminate between original and forged regions in JPEG images, under the hypothesis that the former are doubly compressed while the latter are singly compressed. New probability models for the DCT coefficients of singly and doubly compressed regions are proposed, together with a reliable method for estimating the primary quantization factor in the case of double compression. Based on such models, the probability for each DCT block to be forged is derived. Experimental results demonstrate a better discriminating behavior with respect to previously proposed methods.

Digital Video Broadcasting - Handheld (DVB-H) is a technology developed as an extension of Digital Video Broadcasting - Terrestrial (DVB-T) with additional features that make it suitable for delivery to mobile devices such as phones and Personal Digital Assistant (PDAs). This paper deals with the conditions of receiving digital video broadcast type services in mobile handheld devices. The DVB-H standard is introduced and the key technology elements on data link layer and physical layer are discussed in some details. Finally the DVB-H terminal and network design is described.
