In this work we propose a class of bayesian watermark detectors based on a spatially weighted Total Variation (TV) image model. The inherent flexibility of the proposed prior in modelling local image variations, provides us with a novel spatial mask capable to perceptually shape the embedded watermark. We also propose methods to estimate the parameters of the proposed mask, creating watermarks with more energy and in consequence with improved robust properties. Numerical experiments are presented that demonstrate the performance of our proposal with regard to detection sensitivity and the superiority of the mask compared with other existing spatial masking schemes.

Internet has emerged as a popular medium of communication, not only for common people but also for criminals. Various modes of covert communication are adopted by such elements. Steganography hides the information in digital images without changing their visual perception. These images can then be transferred over internet, without causing any suspicion to an observer. Steganalysis techniques inspect the images and detect the presence of hidden messages. In this paper, we have investigated the effect of quality factor of JPEG images on steganalysis using Discrete Cosine transform. Features are extracted in Discrete Cosine transform domain using higher order statistics, and subsequently a Fisher Linear Discriminant classifier is trained using different clean and steganographic images at different JPEG compression ratios i.e., quality factor. The quantitative results of experiments demonstrate that a classifier trained on particular quality factor gives better detection accuracy for images compressed with the same or a lower quality factor, but gives degraded performance of detection for images compressed with higher quality factor. This inference can aid in developing improved quality independent steganalysis mechanisms.

In this paper a robust image watermarking algorithm based on DCT by Arnold transform and spread spectrum is proposed. The watermarking image is scrambled by Arnold transform to enhance its privacy. The specific second high-frequency DCT coefficients of the original image are selected effectively according to Human Visual System (HVS) and characteristic of digital image processing and then encrypted watermarking is embedded into DCT coefficients selected by spread spectrum. In this paper a general parametric model is proposed which provides estimation for the perceived quality of video, coded with different codecs, at any bit rate and display format. The proposed model takes into account video content, using an objective estimation of the spatial-temporal activity, based on the average SAD (Sum of Absolute Differences) for the clip. Studies were made for more than 2000 processed video clips, coded in MPEG-2 and H.264/AVC, in bit rate ranges from 25 kb/s to 12 Mb/s, in SD, VGA, CIF and QCIF display formats. The results shows that the proposed model fits very well to the perceived video quality, in any combination of codec, bit rate and display format.

This paper presents a new wavelet domain watermarking method, the carrier image using wavelet decomposition. After the Walsh transform low frequency wavelet coefficients, calculated by block adaptive embedding strength, modify the wavelet coefficients of each block, and then do singular value decomposition (SVD), repeat on embedded watermark in the singular value. Fractional part of the anti-transformed image is saved, correction of the watermarked image can be accurately extracted watermark. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm can effectively resist cutting, scaling, translation and other geometric attacks, attacks in general are also robust.

A robust and geometric invariant digital watermarking scheme for gray-level images is proposed in this paper. The scheme carries out watermark embedding and extraction based on histogram in DWT domain. For watermark embedding, the original image is decomposed into the approximation and details sub-bands. Pixels of the approximation sub-band are grouped into m blocks, each of which has the same number of intensity-levels, thus the block histogram is generated; with the block histogram, pixels are moved to form a specific pattern in the intensity-level histogram distribution, indicating the watermark. For watermark extraction, the watermarked image is decomposed into the approximation and details sub-bands; then the pixels in the approximation sub-band are grouped into blocks in the similar manner. According to the histogram distribution in each block, the watermark is extracted. Experimental results show that the proposed scheme is highly robust against JPEG compression, geometric attacks and some common signal processing.

We propose a novel shape descriptor-Included Angle Histogram -for correspondence recovery of graphic vertex and shape-based object recognition. After detecting points local maximal curvature with and the center point of the contour, we construct vectors from the center point to the curvature points. Consequently the point descriptor can be obtained through computing the histograms of included-angles between this vector to the others. The descriptor at each point captures the distribution over corresponding points in the relative position, thus the global shape can be summarized by the combination of each local descriptor. It's invariant to geometrical transformation, eg. rotation, translation, scale and symmetry. The approach has been tested on the well known KIMIA99 database and MPEG-7 CE-Shape-1 database. The image retrieval results demonstrate that our descriptor is practical in shape matching. Moreover, compared to the other methods, it's more efficient in time-consuming.

This paper presents a improved video watermarking technology based on the MPEG-4 standard and the spread-spectrum technique. The watermarks are embedded in the luminance's DCT direct current coefficient of the video's `I' frames. It need not to decode fully when the watermarking is embedded and extracted. As a result, the complication of operation is predigested and the capability of real time is improved. Furthermore, experimental results show that because the watermark is embedded in the luminance's DCT direct current coefficient rather than in the chroma's DCT direct current coefficient, the video effect is distorted less, and the watermark is still steady.
