Design, Simulation, and Fabrication of a New Three-Axis Inertial Switch with a triangular Movable Electrode structure

A new three-axis inertial switch is proposed. The triangle-structured movable electrode is designed to improve the inertial switch's dynamic response performance, especially the movable electrode's dynamic stability performance. The static mechanical analysis indicated that the displacement of the movable electrode to the fixed electrode in the sensitive direction is the minimum when the acceleration is applied to this designed inertial switch. The dynamic simulation analysis showed that the threshold of the designed inertial is about 235 g. The threshold in the non-sensitive direction is about 240 g, 270 g, 300 g, and 350 g when the directions of applied acceleration deviate 15 degrees, 30 degrees, 45 degrees, and 60 degrees from the sensitive direction, respectively. These results indicated that the designed inertial could resist the impact in non-sensitive directions and improve the stability in sensitive directions. The prototype of the inertial switch was fabricated and tested successfully. The testing results indicate that the threshold of the fabricated inertial switch is about 219 g. The test results verify the dynamic stability performance of the designed inertial switch.

It is demonstrated that the quality of nanoscale triangular structures on Si (100) surfaces can be improved by applying intermittent ion beam sputtering. This investigation is conducted along the work of Rakhi et al. (2023), which introduces an additional physical parameter space related to intermittent sputtering. Through this approach, we have observed the minimum surface defect density associated with higher-order surface structures, particularly at t(T) = 8 min. This can have large potential applications in modern cutting-edge technology demands of controlled growth of nanostructures, especially the low dimensional high aspect ratio nanostructures.

本文研究了包含三个固支-固支弹性梁的屈曲三角形结构的失稳回跳问题.当屈曲三角形结构的一个顶点受到转角控制时,可以利用三个固支-固支弹性梁的刚度-曲率曲线得到屈曲三角形结构的变形与弯矩-转角曲线.根据弯矩-转角曲线的三个分支,可以确定失稳回跳对应的临界点,包括两个鞍点分叉点和两个边界点.失稳回跳后,移除外部弯矩,屈曲三角形结构仍然是对称的.此外,根据弯矩-转角曲线,手性形状是不稳定的.本文成果有助于研究多约束弹性梁的失稳回跳机制.

Simulation investigation of the particle flow behavior in the gas full circulation oil shale retort

3D models of the 300 t/d Gas Full Circulation Retort are developed to investigate the flow behavior of oil shale particles in the retorting process using the discrete element method (DEM). The results show that the flow patterns of oil shale particles gradually change from horizontal to waved along the radius direction in the descending process due to the friction between particles and walls. The cumulative contact energies are mainly concentrated at the top of the center pillar and the bottom half of the three support structures. With the addition of the conical structure for gas-oil mixture gathering and the triangular structures for particle distribution, the oil shale particles distribute more uniformly in the retorting zones. The interaction force among particles decreases obviously under those added structures, which is conducive to the enhancing of the convective heat transfer between gas heat carrier and particles. And the cumulative contact energies on the center pillar and three support structures decrease obviously, which could decrease the abrasion of refractory brick structures of the retort.

Differential evolution (DE) has been a popular algorithm for its simple structure and few control parameters. However, there are some open issues in DE regrading its mutation strategies. An interesting one is how to balance the exploration and exploitation behaviour when performing mutation, and this has attracted a growing number of research interests over a decade. To address this issue, this paper presents a triangular Gaussian mutation strategy. This strategy utilizes the physical positions and the fitness differences of the vertices in the triangular structure. Based on this strategy, a triangular Gaussian mutation to DE and its improved version (ITGDE) are suggested. Empirical studies are carried out on the 20 benchmark functions and show that, in comparison with several state-of-the-art DE variants, ITGDE obtains significantly better or at least comparable results, suggesting the proposed mutation strategy is promising for DE.

Formation and characteristics of bilamellar microstructure in Ti6242S titanium alloy under dual heat treatment

The formation and characteristics of bilamellar microstructure in Ti6242S titanium alloy under a dual heat treatment (single-phase heat treatment + two-phase heat treatment) were investigated. Heated at single 13 region and cooled by the air, when the grain boundary alpha (alpha GB) kept BOR (Burgers orientation relationship) with the 13 matrix on both sides, more grain boundary Widmansta center dot tten alpha (alpha WGB) clusters were generated. The cooling modes after single-phase region heat treatment will change the source of the primary lamellar alpha, 13 -> alpha phase transition or martensite decomposition. During two-phase heat treatment, the secondary lamellar alpha nucleates at the 13 grain boundaries or the wide interface of the primary lamellar alpha and the existing primary lamellar alpha facilitates the formation of the secondary lamellar alpha with same or similar orientation, showing a typical intragranular Widmansta center dot tten alpha(alpha WI) microstructure. The V-shaped lamellar alpha with an angle of about 60 degrees is precipitated from the martensite and shows a V-cone shape in three-dimensions. When the holding time is prolonged to 60 min, three alpha variants grow simultaneously and keep a mirror relationship in pairs, forming a triangular structure which has a pyramid shape in three dimensions. Variant selection occurred in the lamellar microstructure during dual heat treatment. Held at subsequent two-phase region, the primary lamellar alpha with the misorientation angle of 90 degrees preferentially dissolved, increasing the variant selection. The primary lamellar alpha provided nucleation sites for the secondary lamellar alpha, leading to a decrease of variant selection.

Design of a low cost, double triangle, piezoelectric sensor for respiratory monitoring applications

In this paper, a novel piezoelectric sensor is presented for patient's breath monitoring applications. Breath rate monitoring is important especially for the new coronavirus patients. In this work, a piezoelectric sensor is designed in the form of a vertex-attached triangular beam made of Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) and Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS). It exploits chest displacement to distinguish breathing vibrations. The device shape and dimensions have been designed for low frequency operation. The output respiration signal is amplified using a low power charge amplifier circuit. The sensor can be placed in a vest and fastened as a belt, or be attached to the chest by a tape. A low pass filter is used to eliminate the noise from the environment and body movement. Among the most important features are high accuracy, low resonance frequency to distinguish chest movement, low weight, low cost, portability, and reliability. Simulation of the designed sensor using COMSOL shows output voltage of 1 V at breathing frequency of 0.2 Hz.

This paper addresses attributed network embedding which maps the structural information and multi-modal attribute data into a latent space. Most existing network embedding algorithms concentrate on either node-oriented modeling or edge-oriented modeling, resulting in unilaterally capturing information from nodes or edges. However, there is no effective method to bilaterally extract node attributes cooperated with edge attributes, which delineates the outline and detail of social network. To this end, we propose a novel Node-Edge Bilateral Attributed Network Embedding method named NEBANE. Regarding each edge as a specific node, we construct a pioneering node-edge-node triangular structure for bilateral information modeling on both nodes and edges. Furthermore, we envisage a pairwise loss which maximizes the likelihood of connected node pairs and of connected node-edge pairs to measure the node-node and node-edge similarity. Empirically, experiments on two real-world datasets, including link prediction and node classification, are conducted in this paper. Our method achieves substantial performance gains compared with state-of-the-art baselines (e.g., 4.21%-13.65% lift by AUC scores for link prediction).

Hydrothermal synthesis of gold nanoplates and their structure-dependent LSPR properties

We developed a facile hydrothermal method to synthesize gold nanoplates with the assistance of surfactant cetyltrimethylammonium chloride (CTAC). Gold nanostructure shapes from triangular, truncated triangular to hexagonal morphology with different sizes can be obtained by accommodating the molar ratios of the surfactant to the gold precursor ([CTAC]/[HAuCl4]). The edge width of gold nanoplates could also be adjusted from tens to hundreds of nanometers, and even several microns. The growth mechanism analysis reveals that the surfactant CTAC directs and promotes the growth of the tabular {111} facets to form nanoplate structures with the size and shape variations. The structure-dependent localized surface plasmon resonance of different gold nanoplates was theoretically and experimentally explained by finite element method simulation and surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) enhancement, respectively. Based on the Raman spectrum analysis of the marker molecule 4-mercaptobenzoic acid (4-MBA) labeled with different gold nanoplates, it demonstrates that the enhanced SERS performance relies on the different plasmonic properties of the gold nanoplates. Therefore, the gold nanoplates may have potential applications in SERS-based sensing and imaging field.
