A new variable step-size least-mean-square (VSSlms) algorithm is presented in this paper for applications in which the desired response contains nonstationary noise with high variance. The step size of the proposed VSSlms algorithm is controlled by the normalized square Euclidean norm of the averaged gradient vector, and is henceforth referred to as the NSVSSlms algorithm. As shown by the analysis and simulation results, the proposed algorithm has both fast convergence rate and robustness to high-variance noise signals, and performs better than Greenburg's sum method, which is a robust algorithm for applications with nonstationary noise.

A new variable step size lms adaptive filtering algorithm is proposed based on variable region. The step size mu (k) in the algorithm varies with variation of the deviation e(k) region to ensure the optimization of the three performance objectives, which are initial convergent speed, tracking ability of the time-varying system and stable state convergence precision. The convergence of the algorithm is respectively proved by Lyapunov function and ODE with random noise and non-random noise.

A variable step long lms algorithm based on Bessel function was put forward,which established the functional relationship between the step size factor and the error *** this algorithm would be applied to the adaptive noise canceller in order to improve the ability of the algorithm of uncorrelated noise *** algorithm has a larger step-size during initial convergence stage or unknown system parameters change in order to get a faster convergence time and tracking ***,and it adjusts small step-size to achieve a very small steady-state maladjustment noise after the convergence of the algorithm.

Aiming at the unbalanced vibration problem of bearingless induction motor caused by the rotor mass eccentricity, an adaptive lms extraction method of unbalanced displacement is proposed. Firstly, the characteristics of unbalanced displacement signal, the influences of step size factor on the tracking speed and the steady state tracking error are analyzed;then in order to solve the contradiction between tracking speed and steady state tracking error, and achieve the quick extraction of unbalanced displacement, a convenient nonlinear function of step size factor is adopted. On this basis, an unbalanced vibration control system of a bearingless induction motor is constructed;simulation verification and analysis are made. The simulation results have shown that the unbalanced displacement signal can be extracted quickly in dynamic status, a higher extraction precision of unbalanced displacement can be obtained in steady status;based the proposed extraction method of unbalanced displacement signal, the magnetic suspension control performance of a bearingless induction motor can be improved greatly.

In order to achieve the fault diagnosis of the broken rotor bar of the squirrel-cage induction motor in real time, the paper designs the fault diagnosis system of the broken rotor based on LabVIEW. The effect of parameters adjusting on many variable step size lms algorithms for adaptive notch filter was analysed systemically. In the end, this article takes the stator current signal of the squirrel-cage induction motor as the research object, the adaptive notch filter based on the many variable step size lms algorithms was used in the fault diagnosis of the broken rotor bar of the squirrel cage induction motor. Experiments show that the system can effectively choice variable step size lms algorithm for the signal of the broken rotor bar. It has faster convergence speed, lower state error, and to eliminate the interference from the power frequency component. It can better accomplish the fault diagnosis of the broken rotor bar of the squirrel-cage induction motor based on the FFT spectrum. (C) 2011 Published by Elsevier Ltd. The recent digital transmission system imposes channel equalization technique for transmission of more prominent data rate. In the process of recompensing the turbulent effects, Channel equalization is referred, which spiels a crucial role for enabling more prominent data rate in digital communication. Channel equalizer technique is also crucial to eliminate or minimize the problem of Inter Symbol Interference in a band-limited channel. Active fields of research exemplified by development of advanced algorithms, structures and the excerpt of the design parameters for equalizers is eclipsed by the benefits of different signal processing techniques. This paper entails about vital adaptive algorithms such as variable step lms and CMA with QAM and PSK modulation technique and presents a comparative analysis of Error rate evolved in all these combinations of adaptive algorithms and modulation techniques using a SIMULINK platform. All conclusive results are expressed with diagrams.

It presents the Multi-level filter's idea of the adaptive noise cancellation system based on the fact that the adaptive noise cancellation system can't filter out noise signal completely. According to the linear combination and the variable *** algorithm, it analyzes the effects of the two level filters. Theory analyzing and simulation results prove that the multi-level filter can get a better the filtering effect than the one-filter, which improves the filter performance in terms of the fast convergence speed, tracking speed and the low maladjustment error. And the anti-noise materials with multi-level filter based on the adaptive noise cancellation system has the good de-noising ability of noisy signals.

Conventional subspace decomposition-based direction of arrival (DOA) estimation methods require eigenvalue decomposition of spatial covariance matrix, therefore these methods are computationally intensive, and their implementation is difficult in real-time applications. However, a DOA estimation method based on fixed step size least mean square (lms) algorithm has overcome this deficiency but the suitable selection of step size is very difficult. A DOA estimation method based on the variable step size lms algorithm is proposed in this article. In the proposed method, the step size is updated by using the estimated error signal. The spatial spectrum is obtained by the reciprocal of array pattern, where the peak values indicate the estimated DOAs of signals. The proposed method can provide better performance with low computational cost. The performance of proposed method is verified by the simulations and compared with some existing methods.
