Tato diplomová práce se zabývá teoretickým rozborem, návrhem a implementací programovacího prostředí s virtuálními roboty. Roboti pomocí senzorů získávají informace o okolním prostředí, které dále ovlivňují virtuálními efektory na základě instrukčního kódu. Instrukce jsou zadávány v grafické podobě pomocí vlastního vizuálního programovacího jazyka. Jeho rozbor a návrh je v této práci rovněž detailně diskutován. Poslední částí je editace a vykreslování virtuálního světa, ve kterém se roboti pohybují, s ohledem na potřeby ukázkových úloh sledování čáry a pohybu robota v bludišti dle pravidel soutěže Micromouse. Jednotlivé úlohy jsou v práci popsány z hlediska možných řešení s návazností na vlastní programovací prostředí. Výsledkem práce je návrh uvedených dílčích částí a jejich implementace a propojení do funkčního celku v podobě výsledného programu.

Parametric Modeling of Biomimetic Cortical Bone Microstructure for Additive Manufacturing

In this work we present a novel algorithm for generating in-silico biomimetic models of a cortical bone microstructure towards manufacturing biomimetic bone via additive manufacturing. The software provides a tool for physicians or biomedical engineers to develop models of cortical bone that include the inherent complexity of the microstructure. The correspondence of the produced virtual prototypes with natural bone tissue was assessed experimentally employing Digital Light Processing (DLP) of a thermoset polymer resin to recreate healthy and osteoporotic bone tissue microstructure. The proposed tool was successfully implemented to develop cortical bone structure based on osteon density, cement line thickness, and the Haversian and Volkmann channels to produce a user-designated bone porosity that matches within values reported from literature for these types of tissues. Characterization of the specimens using a Scanning Electron Microscopy with Focused Ion Beam (SEM/FIB) and Computer Tomography (CT) revealed that the manufacturability of intricated virtual prototype is possible for scaled-up versions of the tissue. Modeling based on the density, inclination and size range of the osteon and Haversian and Volkmann ' s canals granted the development of a dynamic in-silico porosity (13.37-21.49%) that matches with models of healthy and osteoporotic bone. Correspondence of the designed porosity with the manufactured assessment (5.79-16.16%) shows that the introduced methodology is a step towards the development of more refined and lifelike porous structures such as cortical bone. Further research is required for validation of the proposed methodology model of the real bone tissue and as a patient-specific customization tool of synthetic bone.

Computational BIM tool for automated LEED certification process

Building information modeling (BIM) and sustainable building certification integration have been the focus of several studies in recent years, aiming to create a simpler and more effective building certification process. This paper describes a novel computational tool for architects and engineers, considering that the certification process takes place in a work environment that is familiar to them. The goal is to present a method for developing a computational tool that will automate the process of verifying the achievement of certain Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) credits using visual programming in a BIM environment. In this way, de-signers can have an insight into the achievement of certain LEED credits at any phase during the design process. Considering the complexity of the digital parameterization of LEED credits, this method includes the achieve-ment of three credits listed in the Material and Resources chapter of the LEED for Building Design and Con-struction protocol. Apart from similar research, the presented tool enables visibility of real-time LEED credits achievement at every moment of the design, from the building concept development to the final stage. The presented method creates space for the elaboration on the other LEED credits, as well as research in the area of applicability to other green rating certification programs and evaluation of existing building stock.

Integration of manufacturers' product data in BIM platforms using semantic web technologies

As building information modeling (BIM) gains popularity in the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry, manufacturers are required to distribute their product specifications in digital product models. Currently, manufacturers mainly employ proprietary formats, such as BIM objects supplemented by PDF docu-ments to represent their product data descriptions. However, these formats do not support flexible automated product search and data integration. This paperdescribes the use of Semantic Web technologies in combination with BIM-based visual programming language (VPL) to automatically integrate product data from external da-tabases. To facilitate data integration, we introduced a method to semantically represent product data linked with the CEN/TS 17623:2021 standard using ontologies in web ontology language (OWL). The study has focused on the use case of a manufacturer of lighting products. Results show that building designers are able to execute a more efficient product search that satisfies their query requirements and returns suitable products of their choice from the manufacturer's database based on their requests. This approach eliminates the time-consuming and error-prone process of manually entering product data into BIM software.

Developing automated code compliance checking systems is becoming increasingly complex-to the extent of challenging the implementation of these systems. This paper addresses the need to develop an automated system that prioritises user accessibility. Accordingly, the study aims to develop a system through a semi-automated rule translation process and the utilisation of BIM models in native file format. A total of 256 fire safety clauses in Malaysian regulations were translated through logic-based approaches (classification technique, decomposition through semantic mark-up method, and interview method), which further assisted in identifying the necessary BIM properties. A visual programming language was then utilised to demonstrate the proof-of-concept prototype. The classification technique and semantic mark-up method were established and structured in this study by developing a framework and flowchart to provide specific guidelines for formalizing the clauses. The semi-automated translation process encouraged the participation of relevant regulatory experts and provided more user accessibility compared to existing studies. This study also offered more practicality for designers to employ the system by utilizing native BIM model data representation. High mean scores ranging from 4.09 to 4.96 were obtained for the validation process, which affirmed the feasibility of the BIM-based Automated System for Malaysian Code Compliance Checking (BIMSMACC) to assist designers.

Lessons Learned from Teaching Scratch as an Introduction to Object-oriented programming in Delphi

As part of curriculum changes in South Africa, an introductory programming language, Scratch, must first be taught before switching to the well-established teaching of Delphi. The nature of programming in Scratch is considerably different from that in Delphi. It was assumed that the teaching of Scratch as introductory programming language could support learners’ understanding of Delphi. Teachers did not receive much training in Scratch. This study explores teachers’ experiences of their first year of the teaching of Scratch. The purpose of the research was to understand how Scratch can be used effectively as a transitioning language to Delphi and to deduce guidelines for teaching Scratch as introduction to object-oriented programming in Delphi. A qualitative research method, within the interpretive paradigm, was selected for this research. Interviews were done with eight randomly selected Information Technology (IT) teachers in the province of North-West, South Africa to gain insight into their experiences of teaching Scratch in 2012, the first year of implementing the new curriculum. Findings show that teachers were uncertain how to teach programming concepts and how to integrate problem solving and algorithm design into teaching Scratch. The focus of teaching was on Scratch, instead of on teaching programming concepts with Scratch. Emerging guidelines emphasise the integration of problem solving and algorithm design; the creation of opportunities to expose learners to error handling and program testing; and the inculcatation of programming concepts. We furthermore recommend active teaching-learning strategies such as pair programming.

Evaluation of Orange data mining software and examples for lecturing machine learning tasks in geoinformatics

The study presents the advantages of, and possible uses for, Orange software for data mining in combination with processing spatial data by ArcGIS Pro software in education. To present suitability of Orange software in education, the scientific method of Physics of Notation by D. Moody is used to evaluate the Orange software's visual vocabulary. All nine principles are applied in the presented evaluation. As a result, a high level of effective cognition of the Orange visual vocabulary is proven by this method. Namely, the semantic transparency of visual vocabulary, thanks the explicit inner icons, is semantically immediate. Also, principle of dual coding is used properly by automatic text labels of graphical symbols with the opportunity to rename labels. Renaming is also a way to ensure the partial overloading of symbols found by the first principle of semiotic clarity. The principle of cognitive interaction is partially fulfilled by automatically reorganizing connector lines between symbols to reduce the crossing of lines. A high level of effective cognition is beneficial for students. The evaluation of the visual notation of Orange software is presented to inform teachers and the geoinformatics community of the highly effective cognitive aspects of Orange software. The two practical lectures of processing in Orange and ArcGIS Pro software are shown to the teachers and students of geoinformatics community as examples of machine learning tasks. They are cluster analyses carried out with the density-based spatial clustering of applications with noise method, first for the location of cafes in Olomouc town and the second example concerns finding similar European towns based on their land use arrangement, using the neural network and following hierarchical clustering. Both examples could provide inspiration for the geoinformatics community to adopt Orange data mining software.

One of the major challenges related to teaching programming and algorithmics to amateur students is the time spent to explain a language's syntax. Also, students who undertake computer programming may find problems that hinder their understanding of concepts and the development of their problem-solving and programming skills. This paper presents the results of an experimental approach that evaluated the interaction of a group of Colombian students with a Web solution within the context of Mobile Robotics to learn programming and algorithmics. The designed Web App is oriented towards autodidactic learning by using visual Blocks programming through five interactive modules that include concepts to be learned by students such as the following: variables, sensors, conditionals, cycles, and functions. The solution is designed to present virtual scenarios for Mobile Robotics. This proposal was evaluated with middle school students from the Colombian education system and was compared to the results obtained using Scratch as a reference tool.

We have tried the development of estimation method using the track of log in the process of programing learning. This research were applied to elementary school students as well as university students. From the relationship between the number of “run” or “execute” and processing time of programming learning, we have extracted the learning characterization of students. As a result, it was found that each student has each characterization for learning process, and students with many “run” or “execute” have achieved the goal in the short period. These results indicate that student log analysis is very useful method to evaluate the programing learning..

The availability of embedded, digital systems has led to a multitude of interconnected sensors and actuators being distributed among smart objects and built environments. programming and understanding the behaviors of such systems can be challenging given their inherent spatial nature. To explore how spatial and contextual information can facilitate the authoring of intelligent environments, we introduce Ivy, a spatially situated visual programming tool using immersive virtual reality. Ivy allows users to link smart objects, insert logic constructs, and visualize real-time data flows between real-world sensors and actuators. Initial feedback sessions show that participants of varying skill levels can successfully author and debug programs in example scenarios.
