In this paper we first introduced the concept of visualization in scientific computing technology, and explained its basic methods and application areas. Then we discussed its application in the architecture design, construction,decoration, and urban planning, and analyzed its future development prospects. Reasonable suggestions have been pointed out to promote the effective application of scientific computing visualization technology in architecture industry and related field.

It is fundamental for the kinematics simulation and mechanism design to apply the visualization in scientific computing on the simulation research of 3D mechanism. It is also the basis of independent development for 3D CA software without any copyright limit. This paper offered a parameterized kinematics simulation template for 3D mechanism based on the visualization in scientific computing, in which the open graphics library is applied by MFC compiler. This paper illuminates the fundamental principle of the simulation development applying the OpenGL technology. The principle of OpenGL, the procedure structure, the working flow of OpenGL, the concept of program designing and the code implementation based on VC++ is demonstrated and an application approach for mechanism simulation is developed under the MFC environment.

Digital technology is the leading technology in 21st century: it has already penetrated into all fields, and promotes the development of many disciplines. In recent decades, visualization in scientific computing technology can be used in architectural design to transform three-dimensional data into images, and assist architectural design. Its effect is very good. In our country, the research and application of visualization technology, no matter in algorithms, or in application, has achieved some encouraging results. In this paper we first introduced the concept of scientific computing visualization, and explained its basic methods and application areas. Then we discussed its application in the architectural design, and analyzed its future development prospects. Reasonable suggestions have been pointed out to promote the effective application of scientific computing visualization technology in architectural design.

Nonlinear programming and scientific computing visualization in the optimization design of electron optical system

In part I of this paper, five different nonlinear programming methods, improved Powell method, axis directional search method with fixed step, Hook-Jeeves method, axis directional search method with variable step and Rosenbrock method, are discussed for the optimization design of electron optical systems. Major aspects of these techniques in their applications are systematically studied, which include convergence rate, optimal objective function value and global convergence. The calculation results indicate that Rosenbrock method should be recommended in electron optical system optimization. In part II of this paper, an efficient method, reverse-match interpolation method, is presented for the visualized optimization design of electron optical systems, which is a new development of CAD in electron optics. This method can produce the density distribution of electron beam from electron trajectories worked out in the optimization search process. It makes real-time control system possible. A fast algorithm for visualizing 3D unstructured grid data on outer surfaces

An efficient algorithm for data visualization is presented. Its purpose is to display the data distribution on the outside of three-dimensional (3D) unstructured grid. For speeding up the visualization procedure, two algorithms for classifying element surfaces of the grid into outer surfaces and inner surfaces are presented, their efficiency is discussed, and algorithm 2 based on related surfaces of the minimum (or maximum) element node number is chosen as the better one in rendering the data distribution on outer surfaces. The algorithm has higher efficiency than other algorithms available, and can be implemented easily. (C) 2002 Published by Elsevier Science Ltd.

Volume rendering has been a key technology in the visualization of data sets from various disciplines. However, fast volume rendering of large-scale data sets is still a challenging field due to the vast memory, bandwidth and computational requirements. Two consecutive image slices of volume data usually have very high comparability. It is designed an accelerating footprint volume-rendering method based on comparability of consecutive image slices. When the contribution of the sampling point to screen pixels color value is computed, only the changed contribution of the next slice sampling point changed data value to screen pixels color value is computed The influencing screen pixels color value is modified based on the changed contribution value. The experiment expresses that the new footprint volume-rendering method can obviously accelerate speed of volume rendering.

The characteristic of the acoustic radiation of vibrating structure is the important factor in valuing its performance. This paper puts forward a visualization system of the acoustic radiation based on NAH which combines the measurement, data management and visualization. The visualization technology it adopts point a new way to the observation of the acoustic radiation. Experiments have shown that this system can offer a complete solution for the measurement and research of the radiation field.

Two adjacency-layers of volume data usually have very high comparability. It is designed an accelerating splatting volume-rendering algorithm based on comparability of adjacency-layers. When the contribution of the sampling point to screen pixels color value is computed, only the changed contribution of the next layer sampling point changed data value to screen pixels color value is computed. The influencing screen pixels color value is modified based on the changed contribution value. The experiment expresses that the new spaltting algorithm can obviously accelerate speed of volume rendering.
