Background: Cognitive impairments are prevalent during remission in bipolar disorder (BD), but existing cognitive screening tools are time- and resource-intensive. Digital, web-based options can facilitate detection and monitoring of these impairments across clinical and research settings. Methods: This cross-sectional study investigated psychometric properties of the Internet-based Cognitive Assessment Tool (ICAT) when self-administered in home-based settings. Newly diagnosed, remitted outpatients with BD and healthy controls (HC) underwent cognitive testing with the standard paper-pencil tool Screen for Cognitive Impairment in Psychiatry (SCIP) in-clinic and ICAT at-home as part of baseline assessments for an intervention trial (ClinicalTrials ID: 2021-000862-14). Results: Data were analyzed for 31 BD patients and 29 HC. We demonstrated a strong positive correlation between at-home ICAT and in-clinic SCIP total scores within patients with BD (r(29) = 0.66, p < .001), which survived subsyndromal mood symptoms adjustment (partial r(25) = 0.67, p < .001), indicating adequate concurrent validity. There was a moderate positive correlation between ICAT and SCIP total scores across the entire sample (r(54) = 0.56, p < .001) and between subtest scores (r = 0.29-0.61, ps <= .03), except the executive functions tasks (p = .1). BD patients exhibited no impaired performance compared to HC on ICAT or SCIP (ps >= .08). Conclusions: ICAT is a valid and feasible online tool for remote cognitive screening in remitted patients with BD. web-based screening constitutes an accessible and efficient approach for implementing systematic cognitive screening in BD.

Barriers and facilitators to web-based support for informal caregivers of people with dementia: A systematic review and meta-synthesis

Objective: To identify barriers and facilitators to web-based support for informal caregivers of people with dementia. Methods: A systematic review and meta-synthesis was conducted. The Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research (CFIR) was used as a data extraction and synthesis guide. Results: Totally 26 studies were included in the study. Twenty-two barriers and 23 facilitators were identified across all 5 domains of the CFIR. The key facilitators were user-friendliness, communication with peers and professionals, social connection and solidarity, convenience and flexibility, and personalization. Primary barriers included time restriction, lack of technological literacy, accessibility of technological infrastructure, too complex designs, risk of losing the "human touch", privacy and security concerns, and cost and price. Conclusion: Future studies should focus on socioeconomic and cultural contexts, local policies, and laws in providing web-based support to informal caregivers of people with dementia. The findings highlighted the value of practical guidance and refinement of existing frameworks. (c) 2025 Elsevier Inc. Background Many bereaved individuals suffer from intense grief, anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder. To prevent these conditions from worsening, web-based grief interventions have emerged as a promising solution for providing accessible, flexible, and anonymous support to bereaved individuals. However, two previous meta-analyses focused only on the post-intervention effects of web-based grief interventions on grief, post-traumatic stress disorder, and depression in bereavement individuals, relying on a small number of studies published before 2021. Therefore, after including new research, the present study evaluated the effects of web-based grief interventions on grief, anxiety, depression, and posttraumatic stress disorder in bereaved adults, both post-intervention and after three months of follow-up. Methods Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) were retrieved from The Cochrane Library, PubMed, web of Science, PsycARTICLES, Embase, CINAHL, Medline, and Clinical Trials, with a search time range from database establishment to February 1, 2024, without language limitations. The quality of the included RCTs was evaluated using the Cochrane Risk Assessment Tool, and evaluation was conducted using Review Manager 5.3. PROSPERO Registration: CRD42024506293. Results A total of 726 and 771 participants were in the intervention and control groups, respectively. After the implementation of the web-based grief intervention, significant improvements were observed in anxiety (standard mean difference [SMD] = -0.37, 95% CI [-0.54, -0.20] p < 0.0001), posttraumatic stress disorder (SMD = -0.64, 95% CI [-0.78, -0.50], p < 0.00001), depression (SMD = -0.37, 95% CI [-0.47, -0.27], p < 0.00001), and grief (SMD = -0.30, 95% CI [-0.40, -0.19], p < 0.00001) among the bereaved individuals. Business processes have the potential to enhance efficiency, flexibility, productivity and revenue by, for example, automating. They can automate routine procedures thereby reducing costs of a process. In recent years, a plethora of frameworks have been developed that facilitate the modelling of activity-centric business processes. Nevertheless, there is a paucity of frameworks that concentrate on object-centric or data-driven business processes. Furthermore, the majority of commercially available business process tools provide local applications and only a limited number leveraging the benefits of a web-based environment. This demonstration paper presents the implementation of a web-based modelling environment that implements the object-centric business process management approach: PHILharmonicFlows. The implementation is a redesigned and enhanced web-based edition of the original, locally developed prototype. Moreover, the web-based framework incorporates additional features, including sophisticated verification algorithms, measurement metrics for the monitoring component, a more user-friendly graphical user interface (GUI), and functions that enable the modelling of a business process in greater detail than the original prototype, by setting constraints.

Background: In-person nutrition and exercise interventions improve physical function in chronic diseases, yet the acceptability and effectiveness of web-based delivery, especially with different levels of personnel support, require further investigation. Objective: This study aims to evaluate a web-based nutrition and exercise intervention delivered entirely digitally from recruitment to trial completion. Methods: A randomized controlled trial was conducted using the Heal-Me version 1 platform across 2 levels of personnel support (Light and Intensive). Eligible adults with a history of cancer, chronic lung disease, or liver or lung transplant;internet access;and prior participation in a rehabilitation program were enrolled in a fully web-based program to minimize barriers to exercise participation. Participants were randomly assigned (1: 1: 1) to 1 of 3 study groups. The control group received a detailed, self-directed digital nutrition and exercise guide. The Heal-Me Light group received the web-based intervention alongside dietitian and exercise specialist-led group classes. The Heal-Me Intensive group received web-based intervention, group classes, and one-to-one sessions with the dietitians and exercise specialists. All participants received a wearable activity tracker. The primary acceptability outcome was adherence to the intervention based on a priori targets. The primary effectiveness outcome was the change in Lower Extremity Functional Scale (LEFS) score. Secondary outcomes included physical function tests, which were performed and measured by videoconference. Questionnaires were used to assess well-being, quality of life, and food intake. Analyses adhered to the intention-to-treat principle. Results: Of 216 participants, 202 (93.5%) completed the intervention (mean 61, SD 11 years;female: 130/202, 64.4%;cancer: 126/202, 62.4%). Perceptions in 3.6 Million web-based Posts of Online Communities on the Use of Cancer Immunotherapy: Data Mining Using BERTopic

Background: Immunotherapy has become a game changer in cancer treatment. The internet has been used by patients as a platform to share personal experiences and seek medical guidance. Despite the increased utilization of immunotherapy in clinical practice, few studies have investigated the perceptions about its use by analyzing social media data. Objective: This study aims to use BERTopic (a topic modeling technique that is an extension of the Bidirectional Encoder Representation from Transformers machine learning model) to explore the perceptions of online cancer communities regarding immunotherapy. Methods: A total of 4.9 million posts were extracted from Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, and 16 online cancer-related forums. The textual data were preprocessed by natural language processing. BERTopic modeling was performed to identify topics from the posts. The effectiveness of isolating topics from the posts was evaluated using 3 metrics: topic diversity, coherence, and quality. Sentiment analysis was performed to determine the polarity of each topic and categorize them as positive or negative. based on the topics generated through topic modeling, thematic analysis was conducted to identify themes associated with immunotherapy. Results: After data cleaning, 3.6 million posts remained for modeling. The highest overall topic quality achieved by BERTopic was 70.47% (topic diversity: 87.86%;topic coherence: 80.21%). BERTopic generated 14 topics related to the perceptions of immunotherapy. The sentiment score of around 0.3 across the 14 topics suggested generally positive sentiments toward immunotherapy within the online communities. Six themes were identified, primarily covering (1) hopeful prospects offered by immunotherapy, (2) perceived effectiveness of immunotherapy, (3) complementary therapies or self-treatments, (4) financial and mental impact of undergoing immunotherapy, (5) impact on lifestyle and time schedules, and (6) side effects due to treatment. Background: From a global perspective, China is one of the countries with higher incidence and mortality rates for cancer. Objective: Our objective is to create an online cancer risk prediction tool for middle-aged and elderly Chinese adults by leveraging machine learning algorithms and self-reported data. Method: Drawing from a cohort of 19,798 participants aged 45 and above from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (2011 - 2018), we employed nine machine learning algorithms (LR: Logistic Regression, Adaboost: Adaptive Boosting, SVM: Support Vector Machine, RF: Random Forest, GNB: Gaussian Naive Bayes, GBM: Gradient Boosting Machine, LGBM: Light Gradient Boosting Machine, XGBoost: eXtreme Gradient Boosting, KNN: K - Nearest Neighbors), which are mainly used for classification and regression tasks, to construct predictive models for various cancers. Utilizing non-invasive self-reported predictors encompassing demographic, educational, marital, lifestyle, health history, and other factors, we focused on predicting "Cancer or Malignant Tumour" outcomes. The types of cancers that can be predicted mainly include lung cancer, breast cancer, cervical cancer, colorectal cancer, gastric cancer, esophageal cancer, and other rare cancers. Results: The developed tool, MyCancerRisk, demonstrated significant performance, with the Random Forest algorithm achieving an AUC of 0.75 and ACC of 0.99 using self-reported variables. Key predictors identified include age, self-rated health, sleep patterns, household heating sources, childhood health status, living conditions, and smoking habits. Conclusion: MyCancerRisk aims to serve as a preventative screening tool, encouraging individuals to undergo testing and adopt healthier behaviours to mitigate the public health impact of cancer. Our study also sheds light on unconventional predictors, such as housing conditions, offering valuable insights for refining cancer prediction models.

Student translators' web-based vs. GenAI-based information-seeking behavior in translation process: A comparative study

The rise of Generative AI (GenAI) tools, such as ChatGPT, is transforming translators' information-seeking behavior (ISB), traditionally centered on web search. This study compares student translators' ISB in web-based and GenAI-driven contexts using a literature-informed ISB analytical framework, developed from a systematic review of existing ISB theories and models, with a focus on time-related, query/prompt-related, and process-related aspects. To compare these two conditions, twenty-four student translators completed two tasks under each condition. Their on-screen activities were recorded and analyzed using a comparative approach, which involved evaluating differences in the three aforementioned aspects. The data were collected through screen recording, coded using NVivo, and analyzed using mixed-effects regression models to assess behavioral patterns and determine how these aspects vary between web-based and GenAI-based ISB. Findings reveal distinct patterns: 1) Time-related: GenAI-based ISB takes longer, with extended information-seeking durations, whereas web-based ISB is quicker and more efficient;2) Query/prompt-related: Both focus on source comprehension, but GenAI-based ISB addresses complex, segment-level tasks with broader objectives, whereas web-based ISB handles immediate, word-level issues with narrower goals;3) Process-related: GenAI-based ISB is dynamic, involving frequent switching with less depth, while web-based ISB is more linear and structured, supporting deeper exploration within online resources. Overall, GenAI-based ISB is dynamic and interactive, allowing broader exploration of translation tasks, yet it may sacrifice depth and lead to increased reliance. In contrast, web-based ISB is more structured and precise, well-suited for word-level tasks, but lacks the flexibility for more complex translation challenges. PurposeCognitive vulnerability to anxiety can partly be explained by an interplay of attentional biases and control processes. This suggests that when aiming to reduce anxiety, simultaneously reducing an attentional bias for threat and strengthening control processes would be the optimal approach. We investigated whether a combined web-based Attentional Bias Modification (ABM) with affective Working Memory Training (WMT) was effective in reducing trait anxiety relative to control conditions and whether state anxiety moderated ABM *** this pre-registered randomized controlled trial, adults with heightened trait anxiety (n = 433) received either an active or control visual search ABM combined with an active or control emotional chessboard WMT training (2 x 2 design). Trait anxiety (primary outcome) was assessed at pre- (T1), mid- (T2), and post-training (T3), and at 1, 2, and 3-months follow-up. Attentional Bias (AB) and Working Memory (WM) capacity were assessed at T1, T2, T3, and FU3. State anxiety was measured prior to each training *** of the training conditions, participants showed a decrease in trait anxiety over time. The ABM training was associated with stronger reductions in AB. The WMT training was not associated with more improvements in WM capacity relative to the control condition.
