Microwave Tube Simulator Suite (MTSS) is a fully featured tightly integrated software package for microwave tube analysis and design. Recently, some improvements have been made to improve the performance and to make it suitable for simulation of millimeter wave and terahertz vacuum electronic devices. In the paper, the improvements are introduced and a Terahertz folded waveguide traveling wave tube is simulated. The comparison between MTSS and CST PS simulation is performed and the improvements are validated.

Network anomaly detection or network optimization based on Netflow plays an important role in current high-speed network management. Storage and analysis of high-speed continuous Netflow are hot and difficult issues in network security research and industry communities. Existing solutions, although useful in above areas, have several drawbacks in well handling Netflow records generated by large-scale backbone networks. In this paper, we design and implement distributed Netflow storage system DNFStore. First, DNFStore dispatches high-speed Netflow records to efficient storage nodes through independent dispatchers to achieve parallel storage and uses interactive protocol to realize the goal of dynamically join and exit of nodes. Second, DNFStore merges Netflow records returned from storage nodes through query agent, and provides users with a fast unified query interface. We deploy DNFStore on a Gigabit network. The experimental results show that DNFStore can handle 20 million Netflow records per second and process multiple backbone networks concurrently. Besides, DNFStore can provide 40 times speed of query response than centralized storage under the same conditions.

In this note, we compare the value of nonlinear and linear control for a multiobjective H-infinity control problem with a linear time-invariant (LTI) plant. We show that if the H-infinity performance of a nonlinear feedback controller is measured by the maximum incremental gain, the optimal achievable performance with nonlinear, time-varying control is identical to that achievable by LTI control.

The spacers are placed in a testing package simulating a field emission panel and electron trajectories are recorded along a preset timeline. In the Pacific Northwest, combined-cycle combustion turbines (CCCT) have become the resource most likely to be selected as power purchasers decrease their dependence upon the Bonneville Power Administration (BPA). Gas prices are the crucial element setting the market-clearing price of new electricity generation. The overwhelming weight of factors controlling prices is in favor of generally low, if any, real growth of commodity prices. The main factor is intense global, continental, and regional gas-on-gas competition. Gas supplies to the Pacific Northwest are extremely abundant. The interstate pipeline system has sufficient capacity to transport the gas required for the expected additions of gas-fired resources. Pipeline expansions are being delayed and down-sized because current capacity release programs are supplying the required demand. The chief economic uncertainty is the rate treatment of pipeline expansions, being decided this year at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. The uncertainty - whether expansion costs are rolled-in or incremental - amounts to as much as $0.50/Mcf.

Available spectrum for wireless communications is a limited resource which gains importance with the increasing demand for mobile communication services with high data rates. Measurements show that assigned frequency bands (FBs) are not used efficiently. One approach for increasing the efficiency in spectrum use is the concept of overlay systems, which can be seen as an enabling technology for cognitive radio and dynamic spectrum access by providing frequency agility. In this paper, we propose an approach for the detection of spectral resources based on reinforcement learning, allowing the cognitive radio to select the FBs with the most available resources.

In this paper, the security issue of remote state estimation in cyber-physical systems (CPSs) is investigated. As the performance of remote state estimation depends on system topology and communication environment over each channel. Motivated by this, we research the problem of interfering which channel to maximize the attack effect using the terminal estimation error to measure the system performance. For a given system topology, it is shown that it makes no difference whichever channel the jammer attacks, when communication environments over all the channels are the same. Furthermore, the problem of energy dispatch, exploring an optimal tradeoff between the number of attacks and the power launched at each attack time, is studied. When the power used at each attack keeps unchanged, for a normal matrix involved in the plant, an explicit expression is provided for the terminal estimation error, based on which this problem is simplified into an optimization problem with one variable. Finally, the simulation results validate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.
