We have developed a Simulator for virtual phacoemulsification Surgery. In the Current study, the performance of one experienced cataract Surgeon was compared to the performance of four Subjects naive to cataract Surgery. They all operated on the same virtual patient and a number of different response variables were measured. It was found that the experienced Subject performed better than the naive Subjects on almost all response variables. This indicates that the simulator developed by LIS is authentic for phaco emulsification Surgery. The lack of negative effects in case of complications during virtual phacoemulsification Surgery makes the phaco simulator that we developed a very attractive tool for learning phacoemulsification surgery.

Underwater visual SLAM algorithms play a vital role in autonomously localizing Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUV) in challenging underwater environments. The low-light conditions underwater necessitate the use of artificial lighting sources. However, this can lead to issues such as overexposed or underexposed images, resulting in reduced image contrast and information content. This study introduces a transform-domain image enhancement technique aimed at bolstering the resilience of underwater visual simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) systems. Specifically, a homomorphic filtering method is implemented to alleviate the impact of low-frequency lighting variations on images, thereby enhancing overall image clarity and bolstering the performance of visual SLAM systems. The efficacy of this filtering approach is validated through experiments conducted on the AQUALOC dataset. Our findings demonstrate that this method enhances the success rate of visual SLAM tracking, thereby enhancing its utility in AUV localization tasks.

This paper presents a novel formulation of the comparison of the neuroanatomy of different individuals. We propose to take into consideration and compare cortical connectivities, i.e. connections between different areas of the cortical surface through neural axon fiber bundles, as inferred from diffusion magnetic resonance volumes. Matching of cortical connectivity is a novel concept that could potentially open the way to many applications and research interests that motivate this work, such as the possible link between cortical connectivity and the appearance of sulci during morphogenesis, the study of causal relationships between functional areas in neurofunctional studies, or the relationship between cortical connectivity and different kinds of populations or diseases. This novel approach still lacks good understanding and mathematical modeling due to poor knowledge of human axon fiber anatomy. Our approach is a conservative one and consists in minimizing a robust distance between cortical connectivity matrices, while at the same time drastically simplifying the problem by imposing matrix entry pairings to stem from realistic spatial configurations, restricted to lie in a finite dimensional deformation space. The whole process is embedded in a multiresolution framework to improve both robustness of the match and computational load.

A dual band (2G/5G) IEEE 802.11b/g/n/ac wide-band AM-AM envelope feedback power amplifier with digital pre-distortion is demonstrated in 40nm CMOS. This architect effectively improves both EVM and spectrum mask up to 20.9dBm in 40MHz bandwidth at 2G and 17.2dBm in 80MHz bandwidth in 5G. In addition, comparing to the conventional class AB PA, the power consumption is significantly reduced by 33% at low output power (<6dBm) and 21% at high output power (>16dBm).
