Recently, it has been shown that MMSE-based noise power estimation [1] results in an improved noise tracking performance with respect to minimum statistics-based approaches. The MMSE-based approach employs two estimates of the speech power to estimate the unbiased noise power. In this work, we improve the MMSE-based noise power estimator by employing a more advanced estimator of the speech power based on temporal cepstrum smoothing (TCS). TCS can exploit knowledge about the speech spectral structure. As a result, only one speech power estimate is needed for MMSE-based noise power estimation. Moreover, the presented estimator results in an improved noise tracking performance, especially in babble noise, where SNR improvements of 1dB over the original MMSE-based approach can be observed.

This paper proposes an event-triggered secure output regulation (SOR) control strategy against integrity deception attacks (IDAs) for networked switched systems (NSSs) with frequency-limited persistent dwell time (FPDT). Switching law based on FPDT allows for a much larger number of activated unstable subsystems than activated stable subsystems and all switching instants of subsystems and subcontrollers to be unstable. IDAs not only deceive input and output signals, but also tamper with switching signals. From the perspective of communication, cyclic redundancy check (CRC) technology is applied to detect IDAs in bilateral channel networks. The classified event-triggered mechanism (CETM) provides trigger conditions for input signal, output signals and switching signal separately. Compared to single ETMs where the switching signal and the output signal share the same triggering condition, CETM reduces the frequency of switching signal being attacked, thereby shortening asynchronous duration. Finally, a model of areo-engine is used to validate the feasibility of this method.

To address the multi-agent economic operation problem of a distribution network with multiple microgrids, a leader-follower game optimization model is proposed. In this model, the distribution system operator (DSO) serves as the leader, aiming to maximize its profit by setting transaction prices for microgrids (MGs). The MGs, as followers, optimize their operational strategies to minimize costs based on the given transaction prices. By integrating the DSO's pricing strategy with the MGs' power purchase and sale plans within the distribution network, the model fosters a mutually beneficial outcome for all stakeholders. Simulation results, conducted on an IEEE 33-bus system with multiple microgrids, demonstrate the effectiveness and practicality of the proposed approach.

[Motivation]: There are numerous software companies worldwide that split the software development life cycle into at least two separate projects an initial project where a requirements specification document is prepared;and a follow-up project where the previously prepared requirements document is used as input to developing a software application. These follow-up projects can also be delegated to a third party, as occurs in numerous global software development scenarios. Effort estimation is one of the cornerstones of any type of project management;however, a systematic literature review on requirements effort estimation found hardly any empirical study investigating this topic. [Objective]: The goal of this paper is to describe an industrial case study where an expert-based requirements effort estimation model was built and validated for the Brazilian Navy. [Method]: A knowledge engineering of Bayesian networks process was employed to build the requirements effort estimation model. [Results]: The expert-based requirements effort estimation model was built with the participation of seven software requirements analysts and project managers, leading to 28 prediction factors and 30+ relationships. The model was validated based on real data from 11 large requirements specification projects. The model was incorporated into the Brazilian navy's quality assurance process to be used by their software requirements analysts and managers. [Conclusion]: This paper details a case study where an expert-based requirements effort estimation model based solely on knowledge from requirements analysts and project managers was successfully built to help the Brazilian Navy estimate the requirements effort for their projects.

The technology of protection and control systems has been continuously evolving, integrating increasing numbers of functions over the last several decades, and delivering significant improvements in dependability, security, sensitivity, accuracy and greater reduction in equipment footprint. In the past, Protection and Control (P&C) systems consisted of numerous electromechanical relays. A line protection system would typically contain ten or so primary relays, many priced the same as an automobile. Later, solid-state relay technology emerged whereby two measuring units (phase and ground), each in the same price range, replaced the ten primary relays. Now, a single microprocessor based relay costing a fraction of the price of a solid-state measuring unit, performs all the measuring functions, incorporates auxiliary relay functions, and provides fault and event recording. In addition, microprocessor based relays support serial communication technologies originally developed for business applications and industrial automation. Pioneer efforts used vendor specific protocols each with functionality limited to one application. For example, dial-in modem access of fault records reduced the labor required and response time for fault analysis and direct relay-to-relay serial I/O decreased the cost of short-haul protection signaling. The last 10 years has seen a rapid pace of adoption of Ethernet for SCADA access to relays and relay-to-relay signaling. This evolution in technology has helped control capital costs for the materials for protection and control expansion projects. However, the electric utility industry is facing some significant challenges in the next few years. An ultra wideband LC voltage-controlled oscillator (LC-VCO) operating in the Ka-band with equally spaced sub-band coarse tuning characteristics is proposed and characterized. A tunable negative capacitance (TNC) circuit technique is used to cancel the fixed capacitance in the LC-tank to extend the tuning range (TR). A digitally-switched varactor coarse tuning structure with an inductance redistribution technique is utilized to reduce VCO gain (K_V) and retain uniform spacing between tuning curves. The proposed VCO structure and a baseline VCO are fabricated in a 130 nm CMOS process. Compared to the reference VCO, the proposed VCO achieves a 34% increase in TR with maximum K_V of 450 MHz/V. The measured worst-case phase noise is -100.1 dBc/Hz at 1 MHz offset across the TR from 30.5 GHz to 39.6 GHz. The power dissipation of the VCO core is 11 mW from a 1.2 V supply. The TNC-based VCO achieves a FOM_T of -189 dBc/Hz, which is the highest reported at the Ka-band.
